How long have you been working as an agent? How did you get started in the industry?
I have been working at Women for the past five years. The opportunity presented itself when I was inbetween jobs, in search of a new career path. A good friend of mine was an agent at Women and invited me in to meet the team and discuss a possible opening. The core philosophies of the agency and its overall history really drove me to want to learn more about the biz. I did as much research as possible beforehand, and the rest is history. All went well, and I’ve been here ever since.

Women Management has one of the most impressive model client lists in the business, it must be dynamic to work with these girls. Do you have a favorite aspect of your job, something you love doing time and again?
It is a complete honor to be a part of the Women team and work with some of the most talented models and agents in industry. I must say, I am continuously inspired by my job and the chance to build a career that is successful and fulfilling. The possibilities are endless and the paths are all different. But with the right team and support, anything and everything is possible. We have such a strong core at Women, it makes the job that much more amazing.

Is there a specific campaign you worked on that particularly stands out in your mind as a favorite?
The Tom Ford campaign is memorable and confirmation that he is a legend and one of my favorite designers. Second to that has to be booking Daria Strokous in the film Contagion.

Can you talk about any exciting projects you have coming up with your clients at Women?
We are in the middle of campaign season, so I can’t reveal too much. You’ll just have to wait and see….

Tom Ford on why he eschews the runway: "The reason I present in a small controlled way is that so much of what makes my clothes special is the cut, the stitching, the lining -- things that would be lost on the catwalk. On the catwalk you have to exaggerate, almost."

Natalia Vodianova on dieting: "The only diet I have ever done is the blood type diet -- I have done it for five years now. The big contracts go to the girls who are healthy - they need to have a sparkle in their eyes and you can't fake that if you're unhealthy." Natalia Vodianova on negativity: "I think it's really important to say no in this industry actually, it's more important than saying yes. I believe it is very much about saying no, and fighting for what you think you deserve." Eva Herzigova on being a 90s super: "It's a different time now - [the supermodel phenomenon] was a trend," she said. "The woman was much more feminine then, and we took longer to build up our careers. Modelling is very much based on experience."

Jourdan Dunn on healthy body image: "I've learnt to accept my flaws - I hated being skinny and lanky growing up. I think I'm fine so I've decided that no one can tell me otherwise. OK I'm skinny -- what's next, let's move on!"

Diane von Furstenberg on independent women, part 1: "I was on an early flight one morning and I was the only woman on the plane. On the same day, I'd managed to make it onto the cover of the Wall Street Journal -- which I had bought for the journey. There was a man sitting next to me on the plane and he kept staring at my legs and nudging me in the way someone does when they want to talk to you, but don't know what to say. So instead, the first thing he said to me was: 'Why would a girl like you be reading Wall Street Journal?' I looked at him like 'you jerk'. I never said to him, 'look you idiot, I'm on the cover!' Of all the satisfactions I've ever had in my life, that was the biggest." Stefano Gabbana on Domenico Dolce: "We are in love. It's a different kind of love, but we love each other. It's a difficult word to explain, but there's no real difference in the way we work together. We have a better level of understanding and tolerance maybe since separating romantically. People are jealous of what we have: still being in love and being able to make something interesting - we are strong and that's disturbing to some people. Domenico is like my family - even though we're not a couple any more. I have a brother, a mother, and Domenico... it has been a 20-year love affair." Domenico Dolce on underage models: "People say: 'Models are so young, they're so skinny.' But Mr. Balenciaga used models at 16 and that will never change. People say they are skinny, but there is a difference between skinny and sick. If someone is sick, they're sick. It's not because of fashion. If I have flu, I have flu; it's not because I work in fashion." Stefano Gabbana on shuttering the D&G line: "When we decided to do it, the people [stockholders] called us, going crazy - but we need to do it. Chanel has one label; Gucci; Vuitton - why do we need D&G? The people call Dolce & Gabbana 'D&G' - it is the symbol for Dolce & Gabbana, there's no need for us to have two labels." Stefano Gabbana on Madonna: "We went to see her on the Blond Ambition tour, we were big fans. We were watching the show - she was wearing Jean Paul Gaultier then - and I said to Domenico: 'Imagine if one day she wore Dolce & Gabbana.' - Unsurprisingly, everyone and their mother has something to say about Raf Simons’ appointment to Dior. But it’s mostly positive — even from professional curmudgeon Cathy Horyn — which is actually surprising. [The Cut]

1. Alexander Wang Sweatshop Controversy. Well, this pretty much came out of nowhere but when a young designer at a crucial moment in his career gets hit with as serious as an allegation as using sweatshops to produce his clothes, the ramifications could be enormous.

2. Shake-Ups at Jil Sander and Yves Saint Laurent.  Would it be a Paris Fashion Week without someone leaving somewhere under a cloud of suspicion? Stefano Pilati finally submitted to the frequent rumors of his demise with Hedi Slimane set to replace him, but what of poor Raf Simons, who's now unceremoniously on his keester after years of loyal service?

3. Christian Dior's ever-revolving door of candidates. Yeah, this is still happening, but with Bill Gaytten finally getting a handle on this creative director thing -- the Christian Dior Fall 2012 collection wasn't awful...it was actually rather pretty, if nothing revelatory, and you know how much it pains me to say that -- there might be no need for Maxime Simoens or Haider Ackermann or whoever's the designer dujour.

4. Kanye West returns. God bless his heart. Like any artist with a pair, Kanye West isn't letting the negative reviews of his last collection get to him and he's returning today with his second offering. No one ever said fashion was an easy game to get into and Ye's got a long road ahead of him, but we all gotta crawl before we can walk. Unless you're Jourdan Dunn who tweeted that Kanye's shoes for the show tonight were "sexy as fuck but you can't walk in them!" Oh, and fellow model Leomie Anderson said Mr. West "cussed" at a girl for not being able to walk in the precarious pumps. Of course, Anderson threw some shade behind West, tweeting "her walk isn't top notch in kitten heels." #shitmodelssay

- Lindsay Lohan continues to be employable, if only by German fashion houses you’ve never heard of/care about. This can’t go well, particularly considering the first sentence of the press release announcing Lilo’s participation in Philipp Plein‘s spring campaign: “Lindsay is a beautiful, highly acclaimed actress and model.” Who are we lying to Philipp Plein? [Styleite]

Edward Enninful‘s styling takes backseat to Jourlie’s (okay, it’s cute and I’m on board) lithe, lovely and leggy frames, but they reveal more than just their bodies in an interview with the mag.

Italian Vogue‘s EIC, Franca Sozzani addressed the issue of discrimination in the fashion industry on her amazing blog last week, asking “Is skin color still an issue?”:

“We continue to give it [diversity] more space in the magazine and website. The truth is that real beauty doesn’t care for skin color or nationality.”

For Sozzani there is no issue of race, no issue of discrimination and she wonders why readers think it’s “such an issue to choose black models?”

Well, the answer is simple. For so long, beauty was defined by a specific type of girl; designers and magazines only chose skinny, non-distinct Eastern European girls which became the industry standard.

The trend is slowly shifting, but it’s difficult to change the perception of fashion being particularly racist when the industry itself is responsible for the proliferation of that perception.

So in reaction to this homogeneity, any time there is an editorial exclusively featuring black models the inevitable debate begins anew:  is this a matter of progress or exploitation?

I’d like to think it’s progress. It’s incredibly important and inspiring to see beauty represented in all forms and all colors, for society and for the fashion industry. Everyone needs to see themselves reflected in ads and editorials in order to feel beautiful and to feel that they too are respected consumers.

And furthermore, after looking at pale, emaciated human hangers for all those seasons, I think we could all use an injection of, dare I say, color.

Joining Karolina Kurkova on the knocked-up models list is 18-year-old beauty Jourdan Dunn. Confirmed by Vogue UK, Dunn is almost six months pregnant with her boyfriend of several years’ baby. Despite the claims that Dunn will continue modeling after giving birth, I’ve got a feeling that this barely legal lady’s career is over. Sorry Dunn, but swollen boobs and post-pregnancy chub don’t quite cut it in the modeling world. But hey, if you can somehow manage to regain your beautiful physique in a healthy way, all the power to you!

Jason Kibbler shot Jourdan Dunn for Vogue Russia, who displays her versatility in these shots.  From beginning to end, Dunn goes from high society (in Dior), to high jumping (and her legs look gorgeous, I might add).  The only thing I’m not crazy about in this jump is her left wrist…I think the America’s Next Top Model judges would probably agree.

A smash of style indeed! Craig McDean’s most recent spread for Vogue Italia is certainly turning mixed and matched styles around, making them more glamorized than their typical fashion faux pas status. Models Magdalena Frackowiak, Eniko Mihalik, Jourdan Dunn, Evelina Mambetova, and Suzie Bird totally rock out the conglomerate of studded boots, ballerina skirts, layered chains, bows, lace gloves, corsets, fur pelts and sun hats, as well as their furled hair and caked on makeup. Loving the creepy stares and natural, somewhat masculine body language too. All in all, the styling is impeccable and Vogue Italia is finally starting to break the safe, conservative mold.

The May 2009 issue of Vogue is the Steven Meisel-shot “Model Issue,” and features a pull-out cover with “The Faces of the Moment.” (Is it just me, or is Natalia Vodianova having the longest moment ever?!)

It’s great, of course, to see models on a US cover (especially since not one of them is American!) but so many of these names are established already.

Earlier this month the blogs were buzzing with rumors that Luella Bartley was planning to dip her toes into the publishing world.

Now the plans seem more solid.  The debut issue of Luella (that was easy!) features Jourdan Dunn as covergirl, and is set to hit newsstands in spring.

Luella has been rumored to be working with a lot of youngsters in New York, and maybe some familiar names.

While I love Luella’s designs and don’t doubt she’s in touch with the trendsetters and tastemakers of the world (and did you know she started out as a journalist and fashion editor?) I can’t help but wonder why she’d get into the magazine world now, when so many are folding.

Even Daniel Saynt knows that.

There is noting more stunning than December British Vogue’s editorial titled “Unbelievable Fashion.” Leave it up to Nick Knight to capture Lily Donaldson and Jourdan Dunn in an imaginative, dream like pictorial poetry spread. This is an editorial for fashion lovers, dreamers and visionaries. Despite the anything but ready to wear fashions and amazing styling, this editorial seems so natural and effortless. Kudos Vogue, this is brilliant.

Fashion forward magazine, Pop, has created six amazing Fall issue covers.  Also similar to Italian Vogue, Pop features women of color. Each cover features a different iconic model: Jourdan Dunn, Naomi Campbell, Agyness Deyn, Oluchi Onweagba, Natalia Vodianova and Amber Valletta grace the covers, in Prada. The issue pays homage to the 80′s era and moreover the fabulousness of 80′s fashion culture. The culmination of stunning supermodels and love for Studio 54 should make this issue it’s best yet! Pick up a copy!

Don’t be surprised if you see these two women plastered on the walls in SoHo. These two leading ladies, Jourdan Dunn and Karlie Kloss, have been chosen to appear in the add campaign for Topshop. The shoots have been taking place on tube trains as well as London buses; the placement of the shoots relate back to Topshop’s firm roots. The theme that these women play out in the adds is “Topshop on the move”. The girls sport bold makeup with a statement. They wanted the adds to speak to the viewers. The company has a voice and a certain style; they want it seen and heard.
