There are three occasions I look forward to, in terms of getting dressed. First and foremost, is my annual gaycation to Provincetown, during which the booty shorts cum denim panties too risqué for even Chelsea and the sequined leggings too “say-something” for a work look are paraded about on a daily basis. More recently, I’ve gotten into Halloween just for another excuse to wear a heel. And then of course, there is Fashion Week. It’s a battlefield out there; survival of the chicest. The ante has been further upped by the explosion of photoseekers running around, snapping pics of the best-dressed stomping in and out of shows. So how do you catwalk in front of the lens and into the hearts of the new social anthropologist — the streetstyle blogger? Here are 5 looks to get you noticed.

The Kentucky Derby is tomorrow, meaning extravagant hats, mint juleps and drunk gambling are on the horizon. In this edition of Red Carpet Report Card, we will look at the best and worst dressed of the 2010 Kentucky Derby. Hopefully everyone can learn a little something about how to look like a lady for the big event tomorrow.

AvaMaria is tucked away along the cobblestones of Crosby St just So. of Ho. Inside you’ll find a load of Louboutins and Choos and DVF wraps next to relative unknowns that will soon circulate your wardrobe. Store owner, and former professional ballroom dancer, Katherine Virketiene’s buying philosophy lies in that when you buy something one season, you’re going to have it forever. Therefore, she doesn’t always scramble to get the very newest in Ava Maria, much of her energy goes to finding the best never-before-worn pieces from recent seasons past, and sells them a discount.

Wearing wide-leg pants can be tricky, especially if you’re not 5’10″. But fear not, everyone can wear this timeless trouser silhouette if done correctly. If you only remember one rule after reading this post, keep in mind that fit is everything. Pants should be fitted through the waist and hips before expanding into wide-legged splendor. Start small and work your way to bigger flares, but don’t overdo it – you’re trying to look chic, not like a circus extra who forgot her stilts.

It seems like ages ago now that high-end and fast-fashion retailers alike were proudly trying to make the female population dress like fighter pilots and/or garbage collectors by foisting jumpsuits upon them. Now, hopefully, that trend has given way to another full-body outfit: the catsuit. Take a look at this black velvet number from Bodkin and tell me it isn’t an improvement. Me-ow! Jump for another look.

These 2 ladies have always been a favourite. Its nice to see meher not do a black and instead do a relazxed grey. Also given the amount of black dresses we saw are we glad we dont have another one in it.
Rhea on the other hand looked effortlessly stylish and casual chic in this jumpsuit. Pairing it with heels made us love it more.
