Paris Fashion Week Packs in the Trends & Carries Them For You

Edited by

And the French get the final say. Paris Fashion Week has drawn to a close and we’ve sifted the runways for the trends that will affect your wardrobe come September, or sooner. Designers have squared offwhited out, and swept their competition. Karl Lagerfeld and Marc Jacobs were on some similar wavelengths for the new silhouette of Chanel and Louis Vuitton. Ann Demeulemeester and Gareth Pugh finally got coordinating dragon tattoos. Meanwhile, the leg bomber strikes again and we’re still highlighting the hot outline. Now, follow the bell hop to the trends of Fall 2012.

Look of the Day: Margarita Madness

Edited by

It’s National Margarita Day, and we’ve been working hard calling all over town trying to see who delivers the frozen cocktails in NYC. Though we haven’t had much luck in the booze delivery search, we did come up with the perfect outfit in which to celebrate the festivities in our Look of the Day.

Virtual Statues of Daphne Guinness to Go on Display in Paris Department Store

Edited by

Daphne Guinness is going on display once again. But this time it’s not a window performance piece at Barneys nor an exhibit dedicated to her enviable collection of couture. Paris department store Printemps has teamed with the heiress and photographer Nick Knight‘s SHOWstudio to create virtual mannequins of Guinness for their store windows, using photographic images rendered using cutting-edge three-dimensional scanning technology.

Indie Wish List: What Lester Wants for Christmas

Edited by

I’ve never cared much for Christmas — aside from a really long vacation from school or work, I never really got the fuss. In fact, I’d more than happy to ignore this holiday and just get wasted, eat Chinese food and catch the premiere of The Iron Lady. However, in the spirit of the season, I came across a few items that struck my fancy and would make even my Grinch’s heart grow marginally larger.

4 Trends that Spring Forward

Edited by

Fashion Week has spread its Spring seed. The Big 4; NY, London, Milan and Paris have offically had their say, and now we can reflect. (We’re certainly not reflecting on NJ Fashion Week. Wait, what? That exists?! No, no. Well, yes. But really, no.) We’ve collected the trends that have spoken. The four trends that dominated the four cities we trust with our fashionable senses called out to us from many a runway. We’ve taken our favorite from each city, each trend that matters. See what’s abuzz here, there and everywhere for Spring 2012.

Peekaboo Paris: See Through Runway

Edited by

New York already cut it out, but now Paris is playing this game too. The game is Peek-a-Boo and the goal is to show enough without showing everything. These are little slits that come in slight shapes, some veiled, some open straight to skin. These open slivers are the sexiest pseudo-exhibitionist cuts to come off of the Paris runway.

Carine Roitfeld’s Barneys Lookbook For Less

Edited by

While she is no longer the editrice of Vogue Paris, Carine Roitfeld is still turning it out, now on her own terms. In her latest project, she styled the Barneys lookbook, gathering a collection of werqing women that move her, and dressed them in that way that made French Vogue so epic. Here, we’ve taken five of our favorite looks and (though we’d love to go to Barneys for them, a. these pieces are not available online, and b. pshh we wish) found their essences for less.

Paris Fashion Week: Junya Watanabe in Leather and Faux

Edited by

Structured and restructured leather bombers walked much of Junya Watanabe’s runway this week in Paris. With columns of fit seams, he builds the strength of the hide and shapes the skin into curves. He played with the typical vision of the leather motorcycle jacket and turned it, not just cinched waisted, but also oversized, caped, bell sleeved and large collared. He faced the stampede of leather against fake fur, the likes of which we have not been seeing this season.  His use of the material can be even more intriguing than the real deal.
