I really wish that Chanel Mobile referred to a new cell phone company for the fashion elite (with speed dials set for Karl Lagerfeld maybe) but alas, it’s just their traveling art show, which crash landed in Central Park this week. Activists Bash Madonna’s Shoe Choice

This is a stickup! Nobody wear gun heeled shoes and nobody gets publicly bashed! It seems to me that anti-violence groups are really cracking down on celebrities who flaunt even the tiniest amount of violent connotation. With the recent FCC crackdown on M.I.A’s song “Paper Planes,” disallowing the gun bangs and clicks to be aired on the radio and now a British anti-violence group marking Madonna’s footwear as “uncaring,” I don’t know where the line begins or ends! 

Madonna wore these killer (literally?) gun heels to the screening of her film Filth and Wisdom Monday night. These platforms were the spotlight for Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel 2009 Resort collection. But don’t jump the gun now, Lyn Costello, from Mothers Against Murder And Aggression said:

“I am horrified that Madonna can see these shoes as fashion. Celebrities have a massive part to play and an icon like Madonna should have more sense.”

I really think these heels are more of a fashion statement and less of a violence marketing campaign. And seriously, when was the last time you heard an 8-year-old say that Madonna was their idol? Now, if Hannah Montana was rocking the gun heels, then we would have some problems…

Karl Lagerfeld Officially a Noun

Karl Lagerfeld has applied his design talent to the 2009 edition of the lauded French illustrated dictionary Le Petit Larousse Illustré (Larousse Small Illustrated Dictionary) - joining the ranks of Christian Lacroix and comic book artist Moebius as designers who have lent their aesthetic vision to the tome in the past.

The black case is adorned with a photo-realistic sketch of the man himself accompanied by the words “Habillé par Karl Lagerfeld” (”dressed by Karl Lagerfeld”).  Lagerfeld has joined Brad Pitt  in the dictionary’s proper noun section. The book is due for release on November 9.

The Blessed: Kate Lamphear

Kate Lamphear, fashion editor for Elle magazine, was looking pretty fabulous around Bryant Park during New York Fashion Week. I absolutely love the masculinity she throws in to counter her delicate, feminine aesthetic. The fitted blazers and the basic colors have got Ms. Lamphear looking like Karl Lagerfeld’s twin! And if you ask me, Kate Lamphear rocks the bleached, edgy cut better than Agyness Deyn! If only Nina Garcia had this much style…and better hair…
