One of our favorite editorial actresses, Keira Knightley makes a triumphant return in the April issue of Interview, shot by the always dynamic duo of Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Stylist Karl Templer adorns the British beauty in Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Céline, Givenchy, Salvatore Ferragamo, Diane von Furstenberg, Chanel and Valentino as she smokes and smolders in the sultry spread. There’s a bit of good old-fashioned 80s androgyny meets Helmut Newton’s stark sexiness happening that fits Keira’s lithe bone structure perfectly. Full spread after the jump, kids.

Knightley discusses her two new films with David Cronenberg, who recently directed the 27-year-old in last year’s A Dangerous Method. First there’s June’s Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, co-starring fellow fashion plate Steve Carell, and an adaptation of Anna Karenina, in which she plays Tolstoy’s legendary literary heroine — out just in time for awards season in December.

Seriously, just throw that girl in a period piece and watch the Oscars fly.

Vogue Italia Takes a Page Out of the Joan Rivers Playbook

QVC and HSN, once the domain of Marie Osmond‘s creepy fetishistic dolls and the legendary Joan Rivers Classics Collection has gotten a recent injection of diva with Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Lopez and Mariah Carey taking to the air to hock their perfumes, clothing lines and pregnancy stories. For its first issue of the year, Vogue Italia, perhaps sensing a trend, tapped Steven Meisel and Karl Templer for this brilliant send-up of the home shopping networks featuring leggy ladies Joan Smalls, Karlie Kloss, Sigrid Agren, Caroline Trentini, Gertrud Hegelund, Daria Strokous and Natasha Poly. And if that weren’t enough to get your collective hearts beating in anticipation, there’s a…video. Listen closely and you can almost here Joan screaming from beyond (L.A.) about the only things these skinny bitches are eating up is her goddamn screentime. Video and gallery after the jump!

Steven Meisel Accused of Double-Dipping in Inspiration Inkwell

Remember that gorgeous editorial Steven Meisel shot with Raquel Zimmermann featuring “before” and “after” looks? Okay, which one? W‘s a little miffed that Meisel shot a nearly identical story for Vogue Italia — something we pointed out ages ago – and rumor has it that the photog may have financed that shoot on W‘s dime.

The two shoots are not completely alike; after all W used 10 models including Linda Evangelista, Karen Elson and Jessica Stam, while Vogue Italia only used Zimmermann. And Karl Templer styled for Vogue Italia while Edward Enninful styled for W.

Still, the theme, and even some of the poses, of the two spreads are remarkably similar and they’re both in black and white, thus making the similarities even more apparent.

Sure this doesn’t seem like that big of a deal — fashion continually recycles itself, even if after only a month — but WWD, at least, thinks there might be repercussions:

“The fallout will be worth watching. If it damages W’s relationship with Meisel, [Stefano] Tonchi will lose out on a big-name photographer he’s craved for the magazine. If Tonchi doesn’t act, it will demonstrate the lengths a fashion magazine editor will go to appease a photographer who holds considerable influence in the industry.”

What’s Tonchi going to do, go to Condé Nast and issue a recall of all August Italian Vogues? Mesiel’s a brilliant photog — he just got a little lazy. It happens to the best of us. I got lazy when it came to the conclusion of this post…The End. [WWD]

All together now: “STUNNING!” Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott are apparently the only working fashion photographers these days, scoring yet another gorgeous cover for Interview, this time with the always editorial Anne Hathaway for their “Fall Fashion Issue.”

Are you there vodka? It’s me, anticipation. Hathaway is interviewed by bawdy bitch-and-a-half Chelsea Handler so I’ll be waiting with breath more bated than usual for my issue to turn up at my door. And with Karl Templer handling the styling duties, this should be one of the highlights of the September issue season.

Meanwhile, if you direct your attention to the lower left hand corner you’ll notice that Carine Roitfeld was interviewed by Karl Lagerfeld. No big deal, except perhaps being the best thing ever. But again, no big deal. [Design Scene]

Louis Vuitton’s Fall Campaign Goes to the Dogs

For their upcoming fall-winter print campaign, shot by Steven Meisel and set to launch in August, Louis Vuitton cast some real bitches.

Out of dozens of hopefuls, only seven pedigree pooches made the final cut, along with Zuzanna Bijoch, Daphne Groeneveld, Gertrud Hegelund, Nyasha Matonhodze, Anaïs Pouliot and Fei Fei Sun.

Karl Templer did the styling, Pat McGrath did the make-up and Guido Palau did the hair…at least the human hair. But considering how classy these canines are, they probably had their own glam squad. [WWD]

Fans, cigarettes and erotic female behavior has a special place in the March 2011 issue of Interview Magazine. Karl Templer styled models Tao Okamoto, Querelle Jansen, Kristina Salinovic, Sun Feifei, Crystal Renn and Dinara Chetyrova with body harnesses, obi belts, breast-skimming earrings and silk pantsuits for the spread “China Girls”. Dresses from the likes of Louis Vuitton and Versace glammed-up the ladies along with finger waves and eyes adorned with heavy and exaggerated makeup. Shot by Mert & Marcus, this sexy opium den scene is magazine editorial at its finest.

Alexander Wang’s “Image Piece” Non-Ad Runway Flashback

Alexander Wang is launching an “image piece” in the March issue of Interview Magazine and on a Billboard in Noho, according to WWD. It sounds suspiciously like an advertisement, but he has renounced that word, because an ad campaign would mean bending to industry standards. And Aymeline Valade as a Wang-bearing Samurai is anything but standard.

Craig McDean photographed the techno aluminum poncho, windswept around this warrior, and we’ll get to see more in the film of the shoot when it releases on March 1st. Layered as the Alexander Wang girl should be, it was styled by Karl Templer. But how hard of a task was that? Isn’t this the exact look we saw on the runway a few months ago…

And with so many layering pieces to choose from?! Frank Baron, couldn’t you have Creatively Directed Mr. Templer to the rest of the collection? Not that this look isn’t fly, but give me a wardrobe of Alex’s Spring look book and I’ll never wear the same outfit twice! Not that I ever would anyway.

Freja Beha Erichsen and Arizona Muse cover the January 2011 issue, shot by Steven Meisel and styled by Karl Templer. Inside, Anais Mali, Fei Fei Sun, Herieth Paul and Kinga Rajzak join Freja and Arizona as they traipse around in Lanvin, Chanel and Louis Vuitton.
