Bill Gaytten, John Galliano‘s longtime assistant not only took over his former boss’ namesake label but seems like he’s also running Christian Dior for now. And if his Fall 2011 Haute Couture show is any indication, he’s running it right into the ground. The first of many mistakes? Karlie Kloss not opening the show for what would have been like the 300th time.

Just look at those little punims! Ugh, I’m nauseous. Not gonna lie to ya, I’ve never liked kids. Even when I was a kid, I didn’t much care for them. What, you have to run around screaming and laughing all the time? What’s wrong with sitting down and quietly paging through a Vogue? However, with Lanvin‘s irressitibly cute new children’s line and this mini-Benetton-esque ad for H&M‘s All for Children collection, my icy heart is beginning to melt. Slowly.

- Our little girl’s all grown up! Supermodel and high school senior Karlie Kloss went to her prom with this adorable little cherub, childhood friend Gabe Smith, who at 5’6 is half a foot shorter than her. Gabe, ever the gentleman, insisted on buying Karlie’s ticket and chauffeured them to the prom and in return he gets to flaunt to his friends for the rest of his life that he went to prom with a supermodel. Mario Paglino and Gianni Cossi of Magia 2000 created the custom doll in the Dolce & Gabbana lace dress and leopard clutch Dello Russo wore to the Burberry Spring 2011 men’s show. Modelina is excited to report that Agyness Deyn is “back.” Aggy is basking in the supermodel spotlight once again after what amounts to a fashion eternity: “her last runway appearance was during the Spring 2011 season” — that is last fall. Admittedly, I’ve missed the Deyn, but with only a few months in model hibernation, is this an official comeback?

The 90s began with the biggest names in the business and then they were all but wiped out when 15 year old Kate Moss slouched onto the scene. Like Twiggy, Jean Shrimpton and Penelope Tree (who bears a striking resemblance to Kate) before her, Kate ushered in a new body image for women to aspire to. That image was the definitive shape for the past two decades and only now are we seeing curves reappear on the runway and in advertising. We’re parking this model mobile in the here and now!

From the flurry of of tweets fluttering in from thousands of miles and six hours away, the show was a success. Sidney Toledano, chief executive of Christian Dior, made a speech before the show, Karlie Kloss opened (naturally) in dramatic cape (naturally) and the entire atelier came out to take a bow. Dior posting a united front in what has surely been one of the most important — for good and for bad — fashion weeks in quite some time. Update: Quotes from Sidney Toledano’s speech after the jump.
