Celebrating its 10th birthday this year, the festivities at Art Basel Miami almost outshined the actual artwork. With 18 other local art fairs simultaneously going on around town, over 260 galleries showing the works of over 2000 artists and 50,000 creative enthusiasts from around the world, South Beach and downtown Miami’s Design District were the country’s creative mecca this first week of December. Our week was jam packed, with back to back versions of “the most fun party ever”, sandwiched between “the best art exhibit ever” Here’s a rundown of our favorite events:

It seems like forever since we last saw or wrote about Kirsten, but here she is at the Tribeca Film Festival looking Spring ready. I just got back from the G-Star Raw Spring 2010 show, and while I should be left with impressions of the clothing, I can’t help but wonder why Kate Lanphear, style director of Elle Magazine, was seated behind celebrities Juliette Lewis, Kat Von D, Eric Balfour and Leonor Varela, let alone on the side runway (yep, that’s her in the upper left corner!) I admire Lanphear’s support of fashion, as I’ve seen her at numerous shows and throughout the tents this past week, and I feel like her influence is far more important than an actor’s or tattoo artist’s.
If I learned one thing during this season’s fashion week, it’s this: DAMN PUBLIC RELATIONS PEOPLE NEED TO GET THEIR SHIT TOGETHER.

A friend of the late DJ AM had the beautiful and talented Kat Von D create a lasting memorial. DJ Fashen got inked with a tribute tattoo of DJ AM who died last week. Her work is always so detailed and precise- what better way to remember a dear friend?

With all the perfumes out there, it’s sometimes easier if we classify ourselves to a specific type to break down the confusion. Maybe you like the subtler scents, the vanilla flavored, angelic fragrances, or maybe you’re more “out there”, you prefer those scents that really state your presence in the room. Kat Von D seems to have found the answer to both of these. Her two perfumes, Saint and Sinner, take a walk on the wild side with Sinner, and give you that angelic touch with Saint. Haven’t tried it yet, but we hear they’re pretty awesome. Pick one up at Sephora stores this September!
