Coachella wasn’t the only fashion-forward festival going down this weekend. On the other side of the pond industry luminaries — ranging from Tom Ford and bff Stella McCartney, to Diane von Furstenbreg and Dolce & Gabbana and Natalia Vodianova and Rachel Zoe – regaled attendees of the inaugural Vogue Festival with advice and anecdotes on a series of panels during the two-day event. The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals removed whatever pole they had been sitting on as of late to point it in blame at Janet Jackson, Kim Kardashian and Cameron Crowe. The alliterative trio have earned positions on PETA’s list of “Celebrity Grinches of 2011″ for their unfriendliness towards animals.

The New York Times claims the red carpet is stylish again and mentions Elle Fanning‘s couture coming-of-age in particular: “the 12-year-old star…has been schooling her elders all week…” And what, pray tell, is the reason for this sudden sartorial uptick? Why, the reason for everything else, of course: Cher.

The blonde bombshell said ““Almay is known for its fresh, effortless approach to beauty.” It makes sense that she would go for a beauty campaign with them instead of another cosmetic company which would try to cake her with makeup and thus cover up her natural beauty. She’ll do print, television, and online ads not to mention become an Almay spokesmodel.

Expect one of the hottest celebrity spawn to get you to buy make-up from Almay next season. Kate Hudson has just been named the brands new spokeswoman. Hopefully, we won’t see her opposite Matthew McConaughey in any of the ads.
