Vogue Festival Draws a Fashionable Crowd

Coachella wasn’t the only fashion-forward festival going down this weekend. On the other side of the pond industry luminaries — ranging from Tom Ford and bff Stella McCartney, to Diane von Furstenbreg and Dolce & Gabbana and Natalia Vodianova and Rachel Zoe – regaled attendees of the inaugural Vogue Festival with advice and anecdotes on a series of panels during the two-day event. Tom Ford on personally test driving his beauty collection: "I put every single thing on -- I don't wear it down the street, but I want to see how it covers, how it works. When you put your name on something, you want people to know you believe in it." Tom Ford on his incredible shyness: "I'm the face of the brand. With Chanel, you feel that Karl Lagerfeld's personality has really melded with Coco's - but not everyone knows yet who I am, so that's why I'm in the pictures. I don't like having my picture taken but it helps people to respond. My real life's not like the fantasy Tom Ford world - with naked girls pouring perfume everywhere. It's more staying in and watching Friends on television." Tom Ford on why he eschews the runway: "The reason I present in a small controlled way is that so much of what makes my clothes special is the cut, the stitching, the lining -- things that would be lost on the catwalk. On the catwalk you have to exaggerate, almost."

Natalia Vodianova on dieting: "The only diet I have ever done is the blood type diet -- I have done it for five years now. The big contracts go to the girls who are healthy - they need to have a sparkle in their eyes and you can't fake that if you're unhealthy." Natalia Vodianova on negativity: "I think it's really important to say no in this industry actually, it's more important than saying yes. I believe it is very much about saying no, and fighting for what you think you deserve." Eva Herzigova on being a 90s super: "It's a different time now - [the supermodel phenomenon] was a trend," she said. "The woman was much more feminine then, and we took longer to build up our careers. Modelling is very much based on experience."

Jourdan Dunn on healthy body image: "I've learnt to accept my flaws - I hated being skinny and lanky growing up. I think I'm fine so I've decided that no one can tell me otherwise. OK I'm skinny -- what's next, let's move on!"

Diane von Furstenberg on independent women, part 1: "I was on an early flight one morning and I was the only woman on the plane. On the same day, I'd managed to make it onto the cover of the Wall Street Journal -- which I had bought for the journey. There was a man sitting next to me on the plane and he kept staring at my legs and nudging me in the way someone does when they want to talk to you, but don't know what to say. So instead, the first thing he said to me was: 'Why would a girl like you be reading Wall Street Journal?' I looked at him like 'you jerk'. I never said to him, 'look you idiot, I'm on the cover!' Of all the satisfactions I've ever had in my life, that was the biggest." Diane von Furstenberg on independent women, part 2: "I didn't know what I wanted to do, I just knew the sort of woman I wanted to be. I wanted to be independent, I wanted to have my own money and be able to stand on my own - not the type of woman that waits for a man to call."

Stella McCartney and Kate Hudson on Keith Richards: "We met at the VH1 Fashion Awards. I saw her -- she was so cool -- standing in this doorway with Keith Richards." - Kate "I always carry Keith Richards with me in my handbag so I look cool." - Stella Stella McCartney on counterfeiting: "Part of you thinks, 'that's really annoying - we worked really hard on that. But my CEO came in one day so happy and said: 'My mum just saw a fake Falabella Bag in Marbella!' I suppose it does show you've hit kind of a sweet spot if people are copying you. But with the Silhouette Dress and the Polkadot Dress last season, we did have to send a few little letters reminding people that maybe it's not a good idea."

David Bailey on Cecil Beaton: "I mean, I was always a big fan of Cecil - but he was the most terrible middle-class snob." David Bailey on feminism: "I had a terrible time with feminists in the Seventies. They hated me, those women. I think they hated everything."

Stefano Gabbana on Domenico Dolce: "We are in love. It's a different kind of love, but we love each other. It's a difficult word to explain, but there's no real difference in the way we work together. We have a better level of understanding and tolerance maybe since separating romantically. People are jealous of what we have: still being in love and being able to make something interesting - we are strong and that's disturbing to some people. Domenico is like my family - even though we're not a couple any more. I have a brother, a mother, and Domenico... it has been a 20-year love affair." Domenico Dolce on underage models: "People say: 'Models are so young, they're so skinny.' But Mr. Balenciaga used models at 16 and that will never change. People say they are skinny, but there is a difference between skinny and sick. If someone is sick, they're sick. It's not because of fashion. If I have flu, I have flu; it's not because I work in fashion." Stefano Gabbana on shuttering the D&G line: "When we decided to do it, the people [stockholders] called us, going crazy - but we need to do it. Chanel has one label; Gucci; Vuitton - why do we need D&G? The people call Dolce & Gabbana 'D&G' - it is the symbol for Dolce & Gabbana, there's no need for us to have two labels." Stefano Gabbana on Madonna: "We went to see her on the Blond Ambition tour, we were big fans. We were watching the show - she was wearing Jean Paul Gaultier then - and I said to Domenico: 'Imagine if one day she wore Dolce & Gabbana.' Then we picked up the paper and there she was, in one of our dresses...She's beautiful, she's mature, she's a mother - like Isabella Rossellini or Monica Bellucci. She's a real woman."

Rachel Zoe on one of her fave jobs-well-done: "Anne Hathaway at the Venice Film Festival 2008 was a really good one. She wore an Atelier Versace celadon green gown and she looked just like the quintessential movie star. Literally - I gasped for air." Rachel Zoe on avoiding wardrobe malfunctions: "One of the things I'm most militant about is proper undergarments. Dress transparency can be a real issue! I photograph my clients in their dresses from the front, from the back, from the side, inside, outside, under hot lights... it needs to be an outfit that looks good from all angles and where potential disasters are kept to a minimum."

PETA Names Janet Jackson and Kim Kardashian Celebrity Grinches of 2011

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals removed whatever pole they had been sitting on as of late to point it in blame at Janet Jackson, Kim Kardashian and Cameron Crowe. The alliterative trio have earned positions on PETA’s list of “Celebrity Grinches of 2011″ for their unfriendliness towards animals.

PETA has these snarky comments for their Grinches:

“Filmmaker and former visionary Cameron Crowe went retro in the wrong way for his new flick, We Bought a Zoo, which relied on the performing-animal industry—in which the “actors” are routinely neglected and even abused—instead of using state-of-the-art computer imaging. Exploiting live animals to tell a story about saving animals? At least Elizabethtown won’t go down as his worst creative flop.”

“Some have speculated that Kim Kardashian’s wedding to NBA forward Kris Humphries was fake. Too bad the socialite princess doesn’t have the same enthusiasm for faking her fur. Unlike her sweet sister Khloe, who starred in her own PETA anti-fur ad, Kim just can’t seem to divorce herself from fur and say ‘I do’ to a kind and kompassionate wardrobe.”

“When Janet Jackson had her infamous “wardrobe malfunction” during the Super Bowl, at least the flesh that popped into view was her own—unlike the stolen animal skins that she drapes herself with, which are as dead as her taste in fashion (not to mention her career). Ms. Jackson, you’re just plain nasty.”

PETA’s outrage over Janet stems from her Blackglama‘s “What Becomes a Legend Most?” campaign, which has featured a host of other legendary ladies including Diana Ross, Audrey Hepburn, Lucille Ball, Lena Horne, Barbra Streisand, Judy Garland, Elizabeth Taylor and Bette Davis. Now I can abide by ridiculing Kim Kardashian. In fact, I even fully support it. As for Cameron Crowe, so sue the guy for wanting to use real animals — that’s not to say they weren’t treated humanely on set. Plus, how bad could he possibly be? He did Almost Famous (and almost convinced the world Kate Hudson could act).

But you don’t just go around insulting divas like that. Sure she may have flashed a few hundred million people. Sure she hasn’t had a hit in god knows how long. Sure, she’s been relegated to starring in Tyler Perry movies and Nutrisystem commercials. But what about the good times? What about the parade of hits and classics over the past 25 years? And more importantly, what about her hot billionaire boyfriend who probably keeps her up to her wigs in all the stolen animal skins she wants?

It’s time someone stood up to people like PETA, which makes me proud to announce the formation of my new charity, PETD (pronounced: petted) — People for the Ethical Treatment of Divas. Divas are not ours to eat, wear, or experiment on — just to use for entertainment and in drag shows.

Now that the rainbow is a ‘do, there are quite a few ways to prismatically enhance your locks. Do it like Nicki Minaj or Avril Lavigne. Do it yourself or go to the boldest colorists out there. The all over tie dye effect is the wildest. It’s like a tousled hippie, but ooh this chick makes it so chic. As can you.

RED CARPET REPORT CARD: The Best, Worst & Most Boring at the Met Gala

Last night was the holy grail of red carpet fashion. The 2011 Met Ball honoring late and legendary designer Alexander McQueen brought out the best in, well, almost everyone. In this edition of Red Carpet Report Card, we’ll take a peek at the star-studded event and decide who was working, who was sleeping and who should have been turned away upon arrival.

*Andre Leon Talley wins the award for best purple tent. As always, his volumes are amazing.

Let’s take a look at the Best Dressed of the night. This category has quite a bit of people, as it should, for fashion’s biggest event. These were the As and high Bs, the working girls.

Shalom Harlow is my pick for BEST DRESSED in Marchesa. This is what the Met Ball is all about – she looks breathtaking in that gown.

I almost fell over when I saw Christina Ricci in Zac Posen. She never ages a day and looks super sexy in this sheer number.

I found Mary-Kate’s dress underwhelming, but Ashley Olsen looks ravishing in vintage Dior Haute Couture. The whole look is perfect.

Elle Fanning looks like a little couture doll in Valentino. She is so outshining her sister, it’s not even fair.

Rihanna has been looking haggard lately, so I was pleasantly surprised at how elegant she was in this striking Stella McCartney gown.

Iman, also in Stella McCartney, turned it out in a metallic gold jumpsuit. A little draggy, a lot amazing.

Karolina Kurkova in a spring 2011 Jean Paul Gaultier lace legging-dress creation. If the models can’t do it, who can?

I love this Prabal Gurung gown and funky jewelry on Ciara. White could be difficult to pull off at the ball, but she did it right.

Even though Crystal Renn is too skinny for my taste, she is an absolute vision in Alexander McQueen. I need my hair to look like this.

After getting ready in a Barneys window yesterday, Daphne Guiness showed up in McQueen. Perfect, amazing, stuns.

I loved Ginnifer Goodwin‘s look from the moment I saw it. Then I realized it was custom Topshop. Damn she makes it look good.

Naomi Campbell looks like the queen she is in custom McQueen. She wears the sedatives well too.

Hamish Bowles looks like a true gentleman in custom McQueen. Love it from head to toe.

I always wait with baited breath to see what Blake Lively is wearing. She obviously did not disappoint in a Chanel toga.

New York’s best couple showed up looking better than ever. Beyonce is working that Emilio Pucci gown like whoa.

Queen Bitch Anna Wintour gave her best smile to the camera and looks like a shiny grandiose statue in Chanel.

On to the Most Boring of the night. On any other occasion, these folks would have looked great (probably). Unfortunately, this also means they’re the Cs of the Met Ball.

I’m sleeping. Zoe Saldana is usually among the best dressed. Why did she choose this boring Calvin Klein for the biggest fashion night of the year?

Leighton Meester is amazing, but she has trouble getting it right. Different shoes and hair would have done this Louis Vuitton dress more justice.

I love this Michael Kors dress on Emma Roberts, but she has the body to wear something more over the top on a night like this.

Madonna, the Material Girl herself, definitely could have done better than this Stella McCartney dress. Pretty, but boring.

I’m actually quite obsessed with this Miu Miu dress Michelle Williams is wearing. But I would wear this to a nice dinner, not a gala.

And now ladies and gentleman, the Worst Dressed of the night. These are the Ds and Fs of the Met Ball, the creme de la creme of mistakes.

ARGH! Christina Hendricks used to dress so well! This Carolina Herrera gown is an unflattering fit and color on her.

Oh dear. Hate to say it Alicia Keys, but it looks like you’re wearing a giant turd instead of Givenchy. Brown jacket AND dress is NOT fly.

Jennifer Lopez looks like a halfway plucked bloody chicken. Matchy-matchy lipstick, bag and Gucci is a no go.

I thought Chloe Sevigny would make McQueen look good, but I was wrong. The hair is awful and the dress fits like she grabbed it off some rack.

Sorry to say it Kate Hudson, but this Stella McCartney is not a cute pregnant lady dress. And whatever is on your head isn’t working either.

Nooooo! In the rush of preparing for the gala, Lucy Liu forgot to get a wax! Oh wait, that’s just her looking blech in Vionnet.

Going and Coming Around the 70s

Penny Lane was in my eyes and on the runway during What Goes Around Comes Around (WGACA)‘s Fall 2011 fashion show, a collection heavily informed by 70s glamour and Bohemia.

I’m referring to Kate Hudson‘s first and only acting role, as Penny Lane in Cameron Crowe‘s Almost Famous. That was the kind of girl the vintage-inspired clothing line paraded down its runway; a free spirit not afraid of a giant fur or a little sexy.

WGACA’s girl might have also been a regular at 54 — the first look, a leopard print jumpsuit, was born to move under strobe lights. This “Raquel jumpsuit,” named no doubt after 70s bombshell Raquel Welch, was paired with a pair of platform stripper heels — as were the majority of women’s looks, leading to at least one misstep on the Soho Hotel‘s carpeted, and rather cramped, runway.

While the ladies veered between hippie chic and DVF glitz, WGACA’s gents were a little more down to earth. Shearling jackets, vintage denim and billowy blouses kept things loose while a pair of fur clogs had my name and probably a few of my friends’ names all over them.

From the first look to the last — a (Faye) Dunaway dress with a flowing cape — What Goes Around Comes Around presented a wearable, covetable collection that proves once again that the 70s are alive and kicking. And in a 5-inch platform no less.

Get Your Notebooks, Elle Fanning Is Taking You to School

The New York Times claims the red carpet is stylish again and mentions Elle Fanning‘s couture coming-of-age in particular: “the 12-year-old star…has been schooling her elders all week…” And what, pray tell, is the reason for this sudden sartorial uptick? Why, the reason for everything else, of course: Cher.

NYT: “Also, Cher is back. Did you see that raunchy Julien Macdonald dress and the red wig?”

See it? I lived in it.

Geriatric perfection.

A few hundred years Cher’s junior, Fanning was flawless nonetheless in head-to-toe, off-the-runway Rodarte for the New York premiere of Sofia Coppola‘s new film, Somewhere. Then for the Hollywood premiere she wore Valentino Haute Couture.

Meanwhile, she’s barely through puberty and is dressing better than half the starlets, twice her age.

And yes I am looking at you, Kate Hudson.

So are female stars dressing better and taking more chances? Well, yes and no. For every Elle Fanning in Rodarte or Carey Mulligan in Prada, there’s bound to be someone abusing McQueen or horribly out of place in Dior.

What we have are young women who grew up on fashion magazines and have a love, interest and knowledge of fashion and dressing up. Fashion is more democratic than ever, so it’s only natural for a twelve-year old to embrace a heady brand like Rodarte.

Especially when her older sister has been turning it out for ages. And with awards season upon us, Elle and the rest of young Hollywood will have plenty opportunities to wow, stun, confuse and confound us.

I don’t want to look like a blind grandma on a tropical vacay or a trailer park fashion victim, but I know there has to be a way for me to work the romper trend. If bohemian stars like Mischa Barton and Kate Hudson can pull them off, so can I.

While the look can be either casual hippie (loose and floral) or Studio 54 glam (black and fitted), I’m opting for the first option for a playful look for day. The coral romper above is by Free People and retails for $148 (www.freepeople.com).

Rompers are definitely something I have to try on in the store, instead of buying online, but they are something I’m willing to experiment with this spring.

#3. Julia Louis-Dreyfus. We know you’re wearing D&G but you must not be one of their A-list clients because you wouldn’t have ended up with such a badly made dress if you were. Those horizontal strips of cheap-looking tulle are doing nothing for your midsection, and that drop-skirt hem?!?! GIRLLL.

#2. Julie Bowen in god knows what. There is really NOTHING flattering about this dress. It looks as if the designer ran out of white fabric to finish the dress, so he just had to make do with the black! She looks like a chessboard gone wrong.

1. Olivia Wilde in Gucci

My second fave look of the evening, a perfectly fitted dress to go with a perfect face!

2. Diane Kruger in Christian Lacroix

Love her and everything she wears, how can you not love this dress? The color is amazing and the white bow is perfect.

3. Kate Hudson in Marchesa

Kate wears white soo well, I love everything about this look, including the perfectly matched shoes!

4. Drew Barrimore in Atelier Versace

Was not loving the hair, but the dress is pretty amazing! Glad she (or her stylist) picked something so distinct!

5. Tina Fey in Zac Posen

Perfect perfect perfect! The length is great, the shoes are adorable, and it fits her like it was made for her!

6. Chloe Sevigny in Valentino

Amazing, gorgeous, fabulous, stunning, perfect! My favorite look of the evening hands down!

7. Zoe Saldana in Louis Vuitton

At first I didn’t like it, but the more I look at it the more I like it, especially the color.

On failed relationships: “No matter how many times my heart breaks, I’ll never be any different.”

On why heartbreak is worth the risk: “I’d rather hang out with a person who’s done everything than who’s done nothing. It would suck to die and not have experienced my life, really. I mean, I think you should keep your eyes open. Blinders are fun for a second, but they have to come off eventually. And I believe it’s important to get to know people, to really get to know them.”

On pregnancy, engagement and break up rumors: “I’m not pregnant,” she says. “I can’t go two months without being pregnant, engaged, or breaking up because I’m too needy, which is always the one they love. I’m not needy. You kind of have to laugh it off, but it can kind of screw up other things around it.”

On why she doesn’t talk about her relationships: “I have a child, and there are people involved, and it’s unfair to talk about somebody else, especially when you’re not in that place yet to be discussing those things. If I was sitting here with a belly out to here, I’d be talking about what the relationship is and how important that is in my life right now.”

On not feeling pressure from family or friends to avoid Alex Rodriguez because of his past mistakes: ” I don’t really have friends like that,” Kate says. “My mother never shook anybody’s hand. She has kissed and hugged her way through life. [My family had] an open-door policy. We were never afraid to bring the wrong person home. They were always open to our failures.”

On the photo of her and A-Rod kissing: “There’s a guy that’s shooting probably 60 frames a minute. That was a sideswipe on the cheek. That wasn’t even a kiss. I quickly kissed the cheek. And I remember one of the headlines the next day said, MAKEOUT SESSION. What is wrong with people?”

On Chris Robinson: “Chris is a great dad. I feel really lucky. When we first met, it was so immediate. I had no question in my mind I was supposed to marry him and have children with him.

This list was too big for just ten. Here’s 20 celebrity hairstyles that just bother us.

1. Kate Goesslin- I’m not really sure what she’s thinking with that little spike in the back. I mean, I know that it’s “her thing” but…why would you want that to be your thing?

2. Cassie/Carmen Electra/Amber Rose/Alice Dellal- Shaved heads on girls = not good, unless you’re a punk, which clearly, none of these girls are.

3. Billy Ray Cyrus- This is better than the Achey Breaky mullet, but the whole surfer/highlights thing is trying a little too hard for a 47-year-old dad.

4. Donald Trump- I don’t even know what is going on. How does he even get his hair like that?

5. Amy Winehouse- The beehive was cool for like, a day, but as soon as Wino started falling apart, so did her hive.

6. Megan Fox at the MTV awards- I don’t even need to talk about this…this makes her head look so oddly shaped, it makes me laugh.

7. Agyness Deyn- Sometimes I really like Aggy’s hair, sometimes I don’t. This looks a little Warhol, back to the drawing board for this mop-top

8. Carrot Top- I know it’s natural, but this is a little too carrot-y and disheveled. And wtf is up with his eyebrows?

9. Celebrity sons that look like daughters- Cindy Crawford’s son is literally the most beautiful kid I’ve ever seen, but his hair makes him look like a girl. Kate Hudson and Sarah Jessica Parker’s sons also look like they could be daughters. Haircuts, please.

10. Betsey Johnson- I love her designs, but have always hated her hair.

11. Robert Pattinson- Not my choice, I love him and his crazy hair, but I do agree, it’s a little too talked about.

12. Rihanna- Time for a new hairstyle, please. I still like it, I always liked it, but it’s getting old.

13. Victoria Beckham- She pioneered the bob, but that was years ago.

14. Katie Holmes- Same story as the two above. Moving on.

15. Zac Efron- The surf look is a little too grown out for Zefron, just a little bit shorter, please.

16. Brett Michaels- I’m not sure what bothers me more, the fact that Brett Michael’s lips look like a woman, or that I can’t wear a headband or scarf around my head without being called Brett Michaels.

17. Jethro Cave- Just a little too over the top. Corey, please don’t do this with your hair

18. Katy Perry- I loved Katy Perry’s hair long and curled. Grow it back out!

19. Adam Lambert- I know he’s trying to be the epitome of a ‘rock star,’ but scene kid hair is very 2006. He probably takes longer to straighten and tease his hair than I do to shower and put on a full face of makeup.

20. J.Lo- Everyone’s saying it’s a wig, what do you think?

Ben Westwood Brings Celebrity Spawn Worship to Hollywood

Enfant terrible son of Dame Vivienne Westwood, Ben Westwood, is creating an American version of his Spawn: Bound exhibition which will open in New York in September 2009. Subjects will include Paris Hilton, Liv Tyler, Gwyenth Paltrow and Kate Hudson, “all ?bound by the umbilical cord of their parents fame”,? says Ben.

The British version of Spawn:Bound is currently showing at the Bodhi Gallery, 214 Brick Lane in London until the 10th June where his subjects include Sting?s daughter Coco Sumner, Rod Stewart?s daughter Kimberly Stewart, Sir Paul McCartney?s daughter Stella McCartney and Sir Mick Jagger?s offspring Jade & Elizabeth Jagger etc.

Finally some art I actually care about. Wonder if he’s working on all celebrity spawn in the US. Nicole Richie and Miley Cyrus definitely need to be bound.

Singing The Blues: The Stella McCartney Quartet

I really don’t understand the hype about Stella McCartney’s crew at last night’s Met Costume Institute Gala. Liv Tyler, Kate Hudson and Kate Bosworth, including the designer herself, all wore what many critics claim to be “glamorous” and “stunning” McCartney pieces. Well, I hate to break it to the fashion world, but there is nothing glamorous or stunning about funerals, $30 prom dresses, hanky panky jumpsuits or your dead grandmother’s closet:

Probably the best of the bunch, Kate Bosworth looks like she is bound for a 1920′s themed funeral with that full length black dress and sheer paneling. Just throw on a big black sun-hat and move over Angelina Jolie, Bosworth is ready to steal your role in Changeling.

In digression, Kate Hudson looks frighteningly like the girl who went with the disco ball to my senior prom. The golden shimmer is nauseating and the halterneck dress, well, I owned a dress like that 3 years ago.

Moving further down the totem pole is miss Stella herself. I’m all for jumpsuits, but when you’re wearing what appears to be an envelope of lacy underwear, that’s where I draw the line. And besides, is this even formal enough for a Met Gala?

And taking the prize for the McCartney crew reject is Liv Tyler, wearing a sparkly blue gown that I swear I saw for free at The Salvation Army. The sleeves, front pleat, sparkles and waist high slit make for a sleazier version of a a grandma gown.

Posing for cameras at Extreme Beauty In Vogue party, Kate Hudson got a little too caught up in the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. Besides the fact that it hurts to even look at the outfit, I still can’t quite understand what she was thinking. There’s a slight possibility that it would have been okay if she chose just the skirt with that intense material; however, with the way things look now I’d be hiding not posing for the cameras.

I was about ready to create a blog dedicated solely to Kate Hudson’s fashion mishaps at all her Bride Wars appearances.

But she finally got it right in Paris on Monday, in a black Louis Vuitton minidress. The fit is flattering, and the puffy sleeves contrast well with the short length and sheer tights.

The hair is a little too voluminous for my taste, and I’m still not a huge fan of Hudson’s film career, but maybe now I can get some sleep, and a day off from Kate-bashing.

Kate Hudson’s hair and makeup were looking pretty perfect at the New York premiere of Bride Wars. But the dress is another story … clearly she and co-star Anne Hathaway were going for a bride-groom feel (Anne looked super-hot in a sleek, fitted black suit), but Kate’s gown is a little too D-in-geometry-class, a little too rejected-Marimekko-design… She was smart enough to leave her neck bare to accommodate the big print — and the fit is OK, but I’m pretty over the whole mermaid tail thing, too.

Kate Hudson talks to W mag in the Sept issue.

On taking risks: “I have this personality—and there’s a downside to it too—but I have this thing where it’s like, okay, I’ve chosen to bungee jump off this ledge. I have to do it. And if the cord snaps, well, I might as well enjoy the ride down.”

On spending the “prime Hollywood partying years” of her early 80’s caring for her son, Ryder: “Am I gonna look back and say, God, I wish I could have gone to that… that… concert? I’d rather be listening to my son sing songs. I’d rather be watching him sleep.”

On keeping in touch with ex-husband Chris Robinson: “We iChat with Chris constantly. No matter what is going on in my life, relationship-wise, Chris takes absolute precedence. It’s important for Ryder to hear me say how wonderful Chris is, and how much Chris misses him.”

On exposing details of her dating life: “It’s so hard for me, because I’m so open, to hold back. I could really just go on forever about this stuff. We can talk about Chris till the dogs come home. I married Chris, I had a baby with Chris, Chris will be in my life for the rest of my life. But everything else—I’ve learned that things are better left private until you’re actually planning the wedding.”

Kate Hudson has washed that Owen Wilson right out of her hair and I’m assuming it was with a member of the blue man group. The look, which could be for a movie or could be an early warning sign for a dose of the crazies, is definitely not suggested for anyone out there who enjoys being taken seriously. Hopefully its for a movie role in which Kate plays that chick who turns into a blueberry in Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, just after the factory trip, when she has to make a living as a candy-scented stripper named Blue Balls.

Whatever the reason, if you plan to attempt (or currently hit the streets with baby blue streaks) don’t.
