To my surprise as I sleepily browsed my Twitter feed this morning, the 2011 American Music Awards were on last night. I couldn’t care less about the crappy music being awarded, so I immediately searched for disappointing red carpet photos. And to neither my nor anyone’s surprise, I found some pretty disappointing red carpet photos. But what’s an awards show without a Red Carpet Report Card commentary? Forbes Ranks Hollywood’s Most Overpaid Actresses

Forbes Magazine, which clearly has nothing better to do than feed into society’s insatiable appetite for celebrity by enumerating their incomes based on conjecture, scientific (I’m guessing) estimates and good ole hearsay, has come out with its list of “Hollywood’s Highest Paid Actresses.” The list, which reads like a “Really? Her?” of A-list “talent,” is topped by supermom and noted bare-faced adventurer Angelina Jolie who ties with the “actress” formerly (and forever) known as Carrie Bradshaw, one Ms. Sarah Jessica Parker. James Franco to teach a class on himself, “Narcissistic Escapism and the Art of Joint-Rolling”? W tells Kim Kardashian to shut her uncultured mouth. And J. Crew shareholders get their sweater-sets in a bunch.

- Geez, they’ll let anyone teach at Columbia these days. James Franco will teach “Master Class: Editing James Franco… with James Franco.” I can’t wait til his students take to task re-editing Pineapple Express into a serious drama about drug addiction and gun violence. [Gawker]

- Halle Berry is ready to take her ex, Aussie hunk Gabriel Aubry, to court over custody of their daughter Nahla. How ready is she? So ready she dropped out of a Garry Marshall film. Remember him, the guy who did Pretty Woman and then nothing ever again? [Just Jared]

- Well, Berry’s loss is Katherine Heigl‘s gain. And everyone else’s loss. [Gawker]

- W claims that Kim’s “tearful” accusations of being “exploited” were unfounded as her editorial was meant to “document the career and power of Kim Kardashian as a work of art.” All I have to say about that is the Mona Lisa never made a sex tape. [NY Mag]

- Speaking of sex tape, Indonesian singer Ariel was sentenced to 3 and 1/2 years for a sex tape that leaked with him and two women. I’d like to suggest we implement this rule here in the states. ASAP. [Gawker]

- J. Crew shareholder claim their $3 billion settlement is insufficient. In other news, Haiti is still happening. [NY Mag]

- Once upon a time, there was a prince named Lacroix who saved the beautiful princess from looking like a cheap starlet recovering from meth. And they all lived happily ever after. Until the prince declared bankruptcy and his atelier was closed. The End. [T Magazine]

Katherine Heigl Poses With Her Daughter for W

It’s never too early to pimp out your child to magazines, and we’re a sucker for cute children anyway. So as annoying as Katherine Heigl may be, we melted at the sight of her 23-month-old daughter Naleigh on the cover of W.

Hope consumers melt just as much–because there’s some bad news for Stefano Tonchi and the folks at W. So sayeth WWD, “W’s September issue, under editor in chief Stefano Tonchi, was down 14 percent to 30,000 single copies.”

Ouch. It remains to be seen whether or not Kim Kardashian‘s very nude November cover raised revenue, but so far…the reinvention ain’t working. Fingers crossed that the magazine-buying public loves adorable babies as much as we do.

Katherine Heigl graces next month’s cover of Harper’s Bazaar, looking radiant, and in a candid interview, she opens up about her career, marriage and motherhood. Heigl is photographed with dogs throughout the story, she is passionate about animals and supports the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation “Hounds of Hope” which honors her late brother, rescuing dogs from high-kill shelters throughout Southern California and readying them to find loving homes.

On speaking her mind: “I spent so many years just saying what I felt without thinking about the ramifications, without understanding that I have this opinion but not everyone might share that opinion and now they don’t like me because of it. That was really awkward.”

On being a normal girl: “I hate it when people say this, but I’m a people pleaser,” she explains. “I was really raised with the idea that it’s important to be honest and to share your experiences, both disappointing and exhilarating. But sometimes I think the American public just wants to see my life a good fortune. They don’t want to know about the day-to-day. It ruins the fantasy. It’s lame to say that I’m a normal girl, but I think I am.”

On keeping up with the fashions of fellow celebrities’ daughters: “Dude, I try, but I’m not nailing the baby fashion. It’s intimidating. I get beautiful outfits from Gap and baby Juicy, but I’m not layering it or putting her in Prada flats. It’s really stressing me out.”

On her marriage to singer Josh Kelley: “There were a good few weeks when I almost smothered him with his pillow,” she says. But that’s marriage, she adds: “two people with totally different lives and totally different experiences just trying to fit.”

Katherine Heigl and husband Josh Kelley looked ravishing for a birthday party Sunday night in Los Angeles. Heigl already has the old Hollywood glamor nailed down, but her and Kelley looked as though they stepped out of a Chicago speakeasy. What happened to dressing up? I want to go back to a time when leaving the house without gloves or a top hat meant you were a slob.

Yet Another Celebrity Clothing Line …

While doing a little research on Matthew McConaughey’s upcoming clothing line that somehow completely escaped my notice (beachwear, entitled j.k. livin’ for “just keep livin’”– appropriate given his aversion to shirts), I discovered that Katherine Heigl has a clothing line. Of … wait for it … “designer” scrubs (because guys, don’t forget, she’s a doctor). Matthew “Bongos” McConaughey is now the last thing on my mind, because I’ve got it in for KH now due to several reasons.

One, Izzie really started to annoy me on the last season of Grey’s and two, because of her recent bitchy comments about her withdrawal from the Emmy nomination. Katherine, I’d like to point out that you piss me off because the writers of your show did such a perfect job of turning you into a whiney brat– they deserve an Emmy for that alone.
