Bryanboy, real name Bryan Grey Yambao, joins Kelly Cutrone — who will be returning for her second season as a judge — as well as male model Rob Evans and Katy Perry‘s stylist, Johnny Wujek, to the cast of Top Model.

You may remember that Tyra canned longtime cast members Jay Manuel, Ms. J. Alexander and noted fashion photographer Nigel Barker last month, at which point Bryanboy’s name was bandied about as a possible replacement.

Sources close to Bryanboy confirmed that he has signed a contract with the CBS television property and is one his way to the west coast with a one-way ticket and — one would assume — trunkloads of fur, sequins, oversized shades and silly hats. [WWD]

- Kelly Cutrone revealed that one of her (ex-)assistants, a one Mr. Brunson Stafford, stole money from her and People’s Revolution by racking up credit card charges from Delivery.com. Abbey Lee Kershaw - member of Our Mountain Kershaw plays tambourine in Our Mountain and allegedly also contributes keys and vocals. The band released theirdebut single "Wooden Hearts" in 2011 and appeared in Pierre Balmain's spring 2012 fashion film directed by Inez and Vinoodh.

Agyness Deyn - featured on "Who" by Five O'Clock Heroes The single wasn't very well received, to say the least -- though NME said it succinctly enough: "she sings on this and it’s shit." -- and peaked at #109 on the UK charts. But Deyn made somewhat of a comeback, providing the opening monologue to Rihanna's "We Found Love" video.

Baptiste Giabiconi - "One Night in Paradise" (2012) I guess we can consider Baptiste's brief dalliance with Katy Perry as a fact-finding mission as the male super is determined to get his music career off the ground. But while the video for the midtempo ballad "One Night in Paradise" -- off his debut album Oxygen -- has over 2 million views, it lacks the pizzazz of his magnum opus, "Showtime."

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy - Quelqu'un m'a dit (Someone Told Me) (2003) Before she became the First Lady of France, but after she had hung up her runway heels for good, Carla Bruni released Quelqu'un m'a dit. A huge hit in France where it debuted at number one and spent 37 non-consecutive weeks on the charts, "Le plus beau du quartier" was used in a 2006 H&M commercial and the title track appears on the soundtrack of (500) Days of Summer.

Karen Elson - The Ghost Who Walks (2010) Aside from having married -- and divorcing -- rock royalty in the form of Jack White, Elson has her own musical credentials on which to stand. A founding member of New York-based cabaret act The Citizen's Band, Elson released her White-produced solo album in 2010, The Ghost Who Walks, to positive reviews. The album's title track was released as a single and the accompanying video was also directed by White.

Milla Jovovich - The Divine Comedy (1994) Though best known today as an "actress," Jovovich was already a model veteran when she released her critically-acclaimed debut album in 1994. It didn't do so well commercially, but Jovovich continues to contribute songs to the soundtracks of her own films as well as others, such as 2003's Underworld.

Naomi Campbell - babywoman (1994) Naomi made her music video debut in 1978 when she appeared in the clip for Bob Marley's "Is This Love." She went on to appear in videos for Culture Club, Madonna, Michael Jackson and most famously George Michael. So naturally she decided to try her hand at a music career of her own with the critical and commercial failure, the horribly-titled babywoman. Peaking at #75 in her native UK, the album was a hit in Japan and went on to sell a million copies worldwide, producing the single and video "Love and Tears."

Nick Kamen - "Each Time You Break My Heart" (1986) Famous for stripping down to his undies in a classic Levi's ad in 1985, Kamen had a top 5 UK hit with "Each Time You Break My Heart," written and produced by Madonna and her frequent collaborator Stephen Bray. I'm sure the Material Girl's decision to get involved had nothing to do with the undies. What was inside of them, however...

Twiggy Twiggy has been steadily releasing albums since the 70s after she officially retired from modeling following an iconic four-year run. She released her latest album, Romantically Yours in 2011, a collection of her favorite tunes and standards such as "My Funny Valentine" and "Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered."

Tyra Banks - "Shake Ya Body" (2004) Banks -- a jill of many trades and a Harvard grad to boot -- couldn't quite master popstardom, though she tried her damndest with the Beyoncé-aping "Shake Ya Body." She also recorded a single with Kobe Bryant, "K.O.B.E.," which besides being an embarrassment for everyone involved, proved that not even two superstars can make one serviceable hit.

Anthony Gallo flexes his guns and brandishes one in Magdalene's "Nothing Personal," directed by Joe Lally. Also, check for a cameo by Sebastian Sauvé as the Angel of Death.

Holden Newell in Carly Rae Jepsen's piece of pop perfection and early contender for song of the summer, "Call Me Maybe."

Brazilian Evandro Soldati joins a bevy of shirtless, muscular and high-heeled dancers in Lady Gaga's "Alejandro," directed by Steven Klein.

Picking up where Gaga's stilettoed hoofers took off, Madonna ups the male model ante with not one but five hunks. Rob Evans, Simon Nessman, Jon Kortajarena, Sean O'Pry and Brad Alphonso lend their life forces to keep Madge feeling young in "Girl Gone Wild."

The Material Girl's backup dancers in "Girl Gone Wild" are none other than Ukrainian dance-pop outfit Kazazy, who're known for their immaculate collection of heels, moves and splits. Their video for "Love" shows them at their finest and hottest.

Katy Perry really knocked it outta the goddamn park with this one. The song and the model. "Teenage Dream" pretty much solidified her as a pop phenom while giving us loads of model Josh Kloss' rippling six pack for our viewing pleasure.

And then there's Katy Perry's former boytoy Baptiste Giabiconi, who decided to take the reigns and deliver his own music video, the brilliantly awful "Showtime."

French pop tart Anggun's "Echo (You & I)" was France's official selection for Eurovision 2012. So she wasn't about to half-step with the video which not only features model Yonathan Wangman among other delectable dudes, but costumes by Jean Paul Gaultier.

- It’ll be a Black Swan sequel of sorts when Oscar-winning prima ballerina Natalie Portman reunites with her co-star/choreographer/baby daddy Benjamin Millepied and Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy –  for the New York Ballet’s Spring 2012 Gala. [Elle]

- Marc Jacobs continues to generally not give a fuck. In a recently-released profile in Time, Jacobs addresses his controversial use of underage models, saying, “You have child actors and children who model for catalogs…What’s the difference between doing a commercial for peanut butter and being on a runway?” Well, less cocaine, for one. Hilfiger will help guide each contestant to shape and define their personal styles and images because as we all know, video killed the radio star.

“If you look at what makes a star, it’s not only musical talent, it’s the complete package,” Hilfiger told WWD. “And that includes image. If you look at great superstars from Michael Jackson to Madonna and Lady Gaga and Katy Perry [Ed. note: no] today, they each have a unique style and that adds to their persona. It’s the icing on the cake.”

While the designer has outfitted many a star over the years, he won’t be confining himself to “one brand,” i.e. his own. But if a Hilfiger dress or slack makes it on the air a few times a week — so what, who cares? Sure as shootin’ not Idol, which wouldn’t mind if they started a few trends that didn’t end in yet another singing reality competition show.

First of all, I was barely aware that American Idol was still on since it ceased to exist in my mind as anything of note when future Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson was kicked off 40 years ago — but apparently it’s the number one show in America.

Re-evaluate your priorities, America.

Second, isn’t Jennifer Lopez example enough of an “image expert” since she’s built a career on a series of looks and showstopping gowns, punctuated with the occasional romantic comedy or club banger. What can Tommy Hilfiger possibly show these contestants that J. Lo hasn’t taught, like, everyone since Selena?

Hudson’s emotional performance was one of several poignant moments during the telecast, including Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt paying tribute to the late Etta James and Amy Winehouse‘s parents accepting their daughter’s trophy with Tony Bennett for their duet, “Body and Soul.”

While Adele had to hitch a U-Haul to her limo to take home her six trophies, the Foo Fighters walked away with five including Best Rock Album for Wasting Light while Kanye West won four, including Best Rap Album for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Best Rap Song for “All of the Lights.”

Last but certainly not least, one Ms. Diana Ross was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award, her first Grammy after 800 years in the business. The supreme diva took to the stage in a cloud of hair at the end of the night to present Adele with her Album of the Year award. And while the show featured countless moments that would best be forgotten — I’m looking at you Katy Perry and Taylor Swift — the symbolic passing of the torch from Whitney to Jennifer and Ms. Ross to Adele made this a night to remember.

She founded her own record label so no one could tell her what to do.

The name of said record label was inspired by a Dave Chappelle sketch, ("Konichiwa Bitches") Konichiwa Records.

She has a song called "Don't Fucking Tell Me What to Do" First lyric: "My drinking is killing me."

Differences were noticed earlier this month when a “massive fight” happened allegedly based on Brand’s feelings on Perry’s parents and their beliefs.  The two were apart for the holidays with Brand in London and Perry in Hawaii with friends.  With a marriage that has lasted since October 2010, this is a record for Hollywood couples of late.  We feel bad for the two of them and hopefully things will work out smoothly with their non-prenup ridden separation.

A true lover of fashion, West did his research and worked with the best people but in the end he let his usual over-zealousness get the best of him and the result? 6. Missoni for Target Missoni for Target took the high-low collaboration craze to a fever pitch, crashing Target's website and selling out shortly after hitting the shelves. That is, before those items appeared on eBay for several times what they had originally cost, thus negating the entire process.

The rise of Lea T. and Andrej Pejic Transsexual lady Lea T. met Oprah and androgynous male model Andrej Pejic met the Queen of England this year. If that weren't enough of a moment, these two gals also shattered boundaries in fashion and modeling, and in the process became icons and role models to the LGBTQ community.

4. The reinvention of Carine Roitfeld Quele scandale! Did she get fired? Did she quit? Are she and Emmanuelle Alt no longer friends? The rumors have been buzzing around Carine Roitfeld since she officially exiting Vogue Paris in February -- and in the process creating a future supermodel in Saskia de Brauw --  after 10 landmark, nipple-bearing years. But through it all, Carine has been the picture of calm and chic, hiking up her pencil skirt and reinventing herself as a brilliant and in-demand stylist/the coolest bitch on the planet. Stay tuned for another reinvention when Carine launches a new magazine and starts life as a grandmother next year.

3. Kate Middleton's Alexander McQueen wedding dress The speculation was unbearable for what was the biggest and most well-kept secret in an age of superfluous information. Though an unsurprising but nevertheless brilliant choice, Sarah Burton's handiwork cemented the Duchess of Cambridge (née Kate Middleton) as not only a bona fide style icon but a phenomenon on both sides of the Atlantic. Meanwhile, Burton proved she was the right person to carry on McQueen's brilliant legacy and take it to the next level.

Alexander McQueen's Savage Beauty The most successful fashion exhibit in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's  history, Alexander McQueen's Savage Beauty set records and inspired fashion lovers and neophytes alike. The exhibit proved so popular, in fact, the Met extended its run twice. Even then, there were still lines of people waiting hours to get into the museum, but for 661,509 people it was well-worth the wait.

John Galliano stars in Gallianogate John Galliano's downfall has loomed large all year, particularly since Christian Dior has yet to announce his replacement, despite a neverending back-and-forth with a stubborn Marc Jacobs. Following a stint in rehab, a guilty conviction in Paris for making anti-Semitic remarks, and the general destruction of his reputation, Galliano at least had one bright spot this year: designing good friend Kate Moss' wedding dress. Galliano's dismissal also raised questions about the stress designers are under to deliver  multiple collections a year -- just ask Balmain's Christophe Decarnin. Everyone's still waiting to see who Dior picks to take the throne and if Galliano can make a comeback after such a devastating fall. As 2011 comes to a close, 2012 has the promise of even more scandals, breakdowns and breakthroughs that we cannot wait to cover obsessively for you. Adele is up for the biggest prizes of the night, Album (21), Record and Song of the Year (“Rolling in the Deep”) — I mean, the RIAA might as well just start engraving her name on those golden gramophones now and call it a day. Kanye’s masterwork, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was somehow snubbed for an Album of the Year nod (god save the assistant who had to deal with that fallout), though Ye will go against himself in the Rap Album of the Year category — Watch the Throne, his collaboration with Jay-Z and Fantasy are both nominated.

Rihanna‘s Loud (no comment), Lady Gaga‘s Born This Way, Foo Fighters‘ Wasting Light, and Bruno Mars‘ Doo Wop & Hooligans are also up for Album of the Year. Joining Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” and Kanye’s “All of the Lights” (both highly deserving) in the Record of the Year category are Bon Iver‘s “Holocene,” Bruno Mars’ ”Grenade,” Mumford & Sons‘ ”The Cave,” and Katy Perry manages to sneak her way in yet again with “Firework.”

Shockingly absent from this year’s mutual admiration society is Grammy staple, Beyoncé. 4, in my opinion her best solo effort to date, received only one nomination for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “Party” — not the video version, but the good one with André 3000. Of course, Queen Bey has 16 Grammys already and she’ll probably be busy giving birth to her alleged baby come Grammy night anyway.  Her chief rival for diva supremacy, one Lady Gaga, only came out with three nods this year, and not even one for music video (if not for “Born This Way,” at least “Judas,” kids).  Meanwhile, late chanteuse and 5-time winner Amy Winehouse garnered a posthumous nomination for her duet with Tony Bennett, “Body and Soul.”

The last category anyone could possibly care about is that combination gift/curse, Best New Artist. Nicki  Minaj is the frontrunner based simply on popularity and record sales, and is the only female solo artist nominated this year. She will face off against Bon Iver, The Band Perry, J. Cole, and Skrillex.

1. Nicki Minaj

She is a trendsetter breaking all of the rules. When I think of her I instantly think bright colors. Funny that her website is called “mypinkfriday.com”. Bright, hot pink instantly comes to mind when I think of her! “All About Town” by Color Club would look great on a Stiletto long nail with a design or diamond overlay. Nicki can pull off a bold, fun, spunky nail.

2. Lady Gaga

Gaga has married fashion and music and taken it to another level. She is dark and edgy so I would go with a long Stiletto nail coated in Essie’s “Licorice” and then add a three dimensional design to it that I would create to match her outfit. She always works with a top notch fashion team, so I would definitely feed off of what amazing look they put together for her.

3. Rihanna

This girl is always changing her style. To match her current striking signature red hair I would do a permanent French with Red Glitter. The Rainbow Collection of Young Nails has a perfect red “Surprise” with glitter that would accentuate her red hair. Fun and sassy!

4. Ke$ha

She has a very unique, dark yet funky side. I would love to do Aquarium nails on her. This is a very complicated process to encase liquid inside the nail, but it’s super cool. Young Nails provides the proper acrylics to pull this off. Whether she’s wearing jeans or one of her avant-garde type performance pieces she could pull it off.

5. Katy Perry

Katy’s style changes often. She can be everything from lady-like to futuristic and over the top. Always up for the creative I’d love to use silvers, blues, chromes or metallic colors on her. Essie’s “Fair Game” or Sinful Colors “Secret Admirer” would be fun and edgy. To create the futuristic feeling I would add wire on top of the nail or through it giving a robot effect.

*DISCLAIMER* MTV awards shows are always graded on a curve or almost everyone would be on the worst dressed list. Some of the best here (As and Bs) could have potentially been Cs at the Grammys.

Let’s begin with the best, as there were only a handful of of ladies who came to work.

Selena Gomez in Julien MacDonald Fall 2011 – Congratulations Selena, for wearing a mullet dress I actually like, actually love in fact. One of our favorite teen style stars, Selena’s dark side came to the surface in this Gothic number by Julien MacDonald. The gold accessories lightened things up in the perfect way.

The Art Fag may be pretentious; he may be obnoxious; he may be a huge snob and possibly an annoying know-it-all; but at least girl’s got taste.

- An Ascot. Nothing says class like an ascot. But it being both summer and Pride — and the Art Fag being gay and thus secretly a whore deep down — he can pair it with his favorite billowy tank and booty short combo. And considering the proliferation of ascots on Prada’s Spring 2012 runway, you’ll be giving him the best gift of all: being ahead of the trend.

-  Tickets to Master Class. Forget Beyoncé, hang Gaga and don’t even mention Katy Perry. When it comes to divas, the Art Fag is not easily impressed. Maria Callas was DIVA on a whole other level: having an affair with Aristotle Onassis, downing tapeworms left and right to lose weight and generally owning the world. Played to critical acclaim by Tony and Emmy winner Tyne Daly in Terrence McNally‘s play, Master Class, the Art Fag will be brought to an edge of glory to which Gaga could never bring him.

- Duffy by Chris Duffy. Brian Duffy, one of the few photographers to shoot the Pirelli calendar twice, lost his shit in the late-70s — didn’t we all? — and burned a ton of his negatives in the garden behind his house. Luckily, some of them were salvaged/recovered and are now available in this recently released tome on the iconic photographer that will inspire even the most temperamental Art Fag. Which is just about every Art Fag.

- Grace Jones’ Nightclubbing. Celebrating its 30th anniversary this week, Grace Jones’ classic disco/reggae/post-punk dance album is likely to get your Art Fag up and flailing about despite his best ambivalent, cooler-than-thou intentions. Nightclubbing features Jones covering songs by Bill Withers, Iggy Pop and Flash and the Pan as well as her ode to anal sex and the double entendre, “Pull Up to the Bumper. ” And what’s gayer than buttsex and wit, especially when delivered by an androgynous fashion model? Not a goddamn thing, that’s what.

- Absolut Vodka. At the end of the day, Pride’s about celebrating who you are and if there’s one thing the gays love to do is celebrate. Excessively. And Art Fags love to get wasted as much as, if not more than, the next trashy girl. Absolut, a longtime supporter of LGBT issues — look no further than the various Absolut-inspired challenges on RuPaul’s Drag Race –  also goes well with anything: orange juice, seltzer, regret…

Armani Exchange Neon Carnival: Armani Exchange and 944 Magazine took over a private airport on the outskirts of the festival and built a fully-functioning, Armani Exchange-branded carnival. In addition to the ferris wheel, giant slide and carnival games, they managed to build an outdoor club in the middle of the venue, complete with celebrities and bottle service. DJs Devin Lucien, Jesse Marco, and DJ Politik kept the energy high while young Hollywood danced the night away. Josh Hartnett, Paris and Nicki Hilton, Camilla Belle, Kellen Lutz, Penn Badgley, Tara Reid, Jamie Chung and Elijah Wood were just a few of our celeb spottings.

Belvedere Music Lounge: The Belve Music Lounge provided a peaceful oasis from the hot desert sun. Located at a private estate in Bermuda Dunes, the lounge had a refreshing pool, mini sand pit, cold cocktails, a fun photo booth and models in bikinis demonstrating the Belvedere shaker app on iPads. DJ sets were as sought-after as the festival lineup: The Knux, Taryn Manning, Dirty Vegas, Yacht, Punches, Blaqstarr, DJ Berrie, Junior Sanchez, Theophilus London and more spun for our pleasure. Our celeb spottings included Rosario Dawson, Brittany Snow, Laidback Luke and Miguel.

Who is the Carrie Parry woman?

I’d say someone that’s confident and really wants to wear something that they love and also feel proud of it and where it’s coming from. Someone that goes for classics but also likes a little bit of whimsy in their wardrobe. Something they can really play with and make their own.

You worked for a number of really excellent designers. Were there any that particularly influenced your designs?

Jonathan Saunders. He taught me how to print. We used to all the silk-screening by hand. He’s amazing and an extremely talented designer. I learned how to print there and from that I started teaching printing at a studio in London, and I think that really inspires the textiles that I do.

What’s the aesthetic for next Spring?

Next season I’m looking at bringing in more color and some casual pieces. I’d say my circus influence is always going to come through, especially in the spring with the sun and everything. That’s the direction it’s going to be going in in, but also keeping with the sophistication and wearability, of course.

Circus? What was the circus like??

It was amazing. I was there for two years, two seasons. It was the Gifford Circus in England. It toured the Cotswold, which is the English countryside. I did the costumes, and I also maintained the costumes throughout the season, so it was a lot of work, but it was an experience that I’m so happy I had.

What was the craziest piece you designed for the circus?

Oh, [laughs], a foam cockerel. It was a piece that someone stepped into to become a cockerel bird. It was pretty intense. I dressed up as a frog there as well. I had lots of hats at the circus; I did the costumes, but we also had a travelling organic restaurant that my husband actually ran, and I was a dishwasher there in the evening. I dressed up as a frog before the shows to entertain the kids. So it was a fascinating experience. And I often think about going back there for a season.

How did you ever get into the circus?

At Central St. Martin’s I took a year out to get some experience. And I’d always been fascinated with the circus; I did gymnastics and dance, and I’ve kind of always wanted to be a performer in the circus. That’s not where my path led me. So my professor at St. Martins told me of this great circus where she’s from. I went down and helped with the horses for a while then got hired to help with the costumes. But being from L.A., I had never been in a field or lived in a caravan. It was just such a different type of experience that I really loved.

At Central Saint Martins, was there any focus on sustainability and social responsibility?

Unfortunately not when I graduated in 2006. Now, however, the University of the Arts, London College of Fashion and St. Martins are really ahead on teaching sustainability throughout schools, but I just missed it.

When did sustainability become important to you?

I moved out to NY and was working at an accessory design company and witnessed firsthand the environmental impact that the industry had. So we were starting to build in a socially responsible handbag line. I started doing the sourcing of the materials for it, and got really obsessed, and decided that I couldn’t work in design under [not sustainable] circumstances. So I went to work for Earth Pledge and built their textile library, and signed up for classes at the University of Delaware in their Socially Responsible Business graduate program. And then I was working with designers helping them to source their fabrics at Earth Pledge and decided that I could combine my background in fashion, and my passion and drive to promote sustainability.

On a serious note, how many times in a day does someone Freudian slip you a “Katy Perry”?

My married name is Carrie Parry. I met my husband at the circus. Everyone made fun of me. When I was trying to figure out what to name the line, it was right there: Carrie Parry.

Snap CRACKLE Pop:

Katy Perry‘s line for OPI shimmies and shakes in all the right places, kind of like my teenage dreams. She’s got the season’s splash in her color palette: Black Shatter Polish. It’s a top coat you apply that cracks apart as it dries, leaving your nails looking perfectly chipped, almost tribally printed, with another hue peeking out from beneath.

Glitter Me Bieber:

Justin Bieber has his own line of nail polish, this we know I’m sure. Remember that One Less Lonely Girl collection for Nicole by OPI sold exclusively at…Walmart? Well, it’s actually pretty flippin’ sweet (this we weren’t as sure of). He’s got the glitter, the metallic, the multi-colored sparkle. Alright, ALRIGHT! I’m a Belieber.

The Swedish superstar’s Body Talk series was one (or rather three) of the best albums to come out last year and her epic ode to the self-samba, “Dancing on My Own” has yet to leave my iPod rotation. It warms what’s left of my heart to see her getting some much-deserved attention, especially after being snubbed this year at the Grammys.

Sidebar: I mean, really, Teenage Dream? But I promised myself I wouldn’t get too upset about it, especially after that incident last year with Taylor Swift.

Joining Robyn in Elle‘s “Music Issue,” out April 12th, will be the Messiah also known as Beyoncé, Florence Welch (of the Machine), hair-whipper Willow Smith, American Idol judge and apparently-still-a-”singer” J. Lo, the baddest bitch in the rap game Nicki Minaj, multi-hyphenate supermom Gwen Stefani, blue-eyed soul songstress Adele, Oscar and Grammy-winner Jennifer Hudson, the incomparable Stevie Nicks and the Queen herself, Aretha Franklin.

That’s quite the line-up and the cover is quite a get for Robyn, who will also be performing April 11th as part of  Elle‘s second annual “Women in Music” event at the Music Box in Hollywood.

So West Coast gays, I expect you all to rally in support. After all, good pop music must be treasured and nurtured like the sequin-clad bird of paradise that it is.

It’s no surprise Bonnie Mckee was born and raised on the west side of America as she helped re-write “California Love” by 2Pac with a summer-y urban beat, bubbly lyrics and a cute songstress on lead vocals.

In the summer of 2010, you could not get a popsicle from an ice cream truck, check someone out at the beach or buy a pair of new Diesel denim shorts without hearing Katy Perry’s “California Gurls.”

God-forbid on behalf of the pop fans, Valley Girls and hipsters who loved the Passion Pit remix; let’s take a moment to thank Bonnie Mckee for contributing to creating Generation Z’s catchy cherry-soda-flavored California anthem.

Some might only know Bonnie for her insane pen game for pop songs but she was also a part of the 2004 Fefe Dobson/Avril Lavigne pop/rock movement, being signed to Warner’s imprint “Reprise Records.” Where is she now as a musician? Well, she is conjuring up a self-proclaimed sound that is described as something “Katy Perry’s evil twin,” would be making.

Wait like one sec? Didn’t she also write Britney Spears’s new single “Hold It Against Me” ?

Yep, she did and it is safe to say her and Lukasz wrote the majority of Spears’s seventh studio album dropping this spring. We got around to clear rumors about who she has been working with so far on her sophomore album, what it was like working with Swede-pop masterminds Bloodshy & Avant and all things Britney.

Alex Kazemi: [Laughs] I see that you re-tweeted my “Popstep” tweet about the dub-step part in “Hold It Against Me.”  Do you like that term?

Bonnie Mckee: [Laughs] Yes! You are very inventive!

Kazemi: Was there a lot of pressure when you found out you were assigned as a writer for the Britney Spears project?

Bonnie: Well, believe it or not, for the past year and half everyone and their grandmother have been writing for her project. I had been pitching songs with Britney in mind for a while. I wanted to be prepared and when I finally got the call, I was ready!  “Hold it Against Me” was actually written about a year and a half ago.

Kazemi: When you and Luke were creating the song, did you know that Urban Outfitter manufactured hipsters all over the world would be pouting on their Facebook and Twitters about “Dubstep” being used in a Britney Spears track?

Bonnie : I’m not surprised; people take their subcultures very seriously. Cry me a river hipsters!  You don’t own it! Let the world enjoy it, it was created for a reason.  Even if it’s not perfectly “true” to the genre, it’s just a fun little taste of something different!  Oh come on, Brit has to keep it fresh after all. POPSTEP!!! [Laughs]

Kazemi : [Laughs] Well, we all knew it was going to cross over at some point. I feel that  “Hold It Against Me” was a perfect way for Dubstep to be introduced to the Top 40 type of audience. I know when you were a teenager you were a misfit and went to raves, so at some point in life you must have had an experience listening to “Ministry Of Sound” and “Hed Kandi” from Europe. Did Tiesto or any house producers inspire the lyrics for the track? “You feel like paradise” and “I need a vacation tonight.”  Many of these kinds of elements are found in European tracks.

Bonnie: Actually, Katy Perry inspired the lyrics. I was working with Katy on her album and she came in one day in a little slutty dress. We all know what a bodacious figure she has… So I said to her, “Damn, Katy- If I said you had a nice body, would you hold it against me?” A light bulb went off in my head and I was like, “I have to go!” The rest is history! [Laughs]

Kazemi: “Hold It Against Me” isn’t your only offering for the Britney sessions; I dug around Twitter and saw you were in the studio with Magnus and Bloodshy too! I nearly had a heart attack upon hearing of the Bloodshy Britney reunion.  Was it an honor working with Bloodshy & Avant ?! It’s amazing how the Swedes employ some of the best pop songs like  “Piece Of Me,” “Toxic,” and not to mention  “AM to PM” by Christina Milian! The list goes on!  He also did a Dubstep-esque track called “Freak Show” with Britney on a previous album. So maybe “Hold It Against Me” wasn’t the first?

Bonnie: Yes, working with Bloodshy was insanely fun! There must be something in the water in Sweden, because they seem to have an ear for melodies and hooks. Bloodshy, Magnus, and the whole team are so talented. They are always thinking out side of the box when it comes to writing, it was quite the honor to be working with them. Nicole Morier and I wrote a bunch of stuff together, she has done a bunch of other songs for Britney in the past. I love her! She is epic.

Kazemi: How many tracks have you done so far for Femme Fatale?

Bonnie: I’ve done six, but we are still in the process of recording, so I’m not sure how many will actually make it onto the album. Hopefully all of them! They’re so much fun! I’m very proud of the work we’ve done. I think her fans will love it.

Kazemi: Six is the magic number!  Is there anyone else you’ve been working with, other then Britney that you’re excited about?

Bonniee: Yes, I did a bunch of work with Kelly Clarkson last summer, it’s looking like that will make the album. She really has an incredible voice and I’m excited to see what happens, I have high expectations for that album!

Kazemi: ADHD moment! What inspired “Teenage Dream?” While writing, did you have any idea that it would become the album title ?

Bonnie: Katy and I have always had a mutual fascination with the adolescent state of mind. When we met six years ago we were both really into Lolita, we both explored those themes on our first records. Her song “One of the Boys” touched on the early stages of discovering that boys can be more than just friends, and my song “Confessions of a Teenage Girl” was about realizing my power as a young sexual creature and using it to my advantage. So, it was fitting that we would end up writing a song like this together. I had no idea it would go on to be the title of the album.

Kazemi: What was the song like in its rough/early stages?

Bonnie: Katy and I wrote and rewrote the song 4 times; we wanted a “forever young” type of feel. Katy started with a lyric about Peter Pan, that was cool, but it just kept feeling too young. We wanted it to have more edge, more sex. There was a version that included the line, “and the next thing you know, you’re a mom in a minivan” it kept us laughing uncontrollably for an hour. We literally wrote it beginning to end three times while rolling around the studio floor delirious.

Finally, we thought we had cracked the code. We wrote something that was based on the metaphor of “trying me on”, comparing the feeling of wearing new clothes to sex, kind of a “Dress You Up in My Love” deal. We swore we had it, then Benny Blanco came in, he was like “Uh, no.” Luke always makes us “Benny Proof” everything. He says that if Benny doesn’t get it, America won’t get it.

Katy and I looked at each other in dismay, knowing we would have to start all over again. He said, “something more like this” and played us The Teenagers “Homecoming”, but at that point we were so over it, we just called it a night. The next week Katy invited me to Santa Barbara to write with her, Doctor Luke, and Max Martin. I really wanted to bring my best, so I took it home and sat with it. I thought about my adolescent years, my first love. I thought about watching Baz Luhrmann’s “Romeo and Juliet”, putting on a mini disco ball, and just dreaming of Leo. I thought about my friends and I having slumber parties in the 90’s, giddy at the mere THOUGHT of boys, a time when love and sex only existed in magical stories and movies. I thought about what Benny had said, I listened to the song again. The Teenagers, what a great word, teenager! A powerful word; our entire adolescence condensed into just three syllables.

That’s what songwriters are always looking for – powerful yet familiar themes, and there it was. I couldn’t believe after all of our agonizing over “youth” themes, that we had overlooked such an obvious one- the teenage condition. That night I had to leave for Santa Barbara and with that single word under my belt, I was confident I could piece it together from there. I was texting myself rhyme schemes all the way up PCH, trying to unscramble the puzzle before I walked into that studio. When I arrived, I was so excited to tell Doctor Luke about how I’d finally cracked the code, but he was pissed, we had so much time on the chorus alone that and banned us from spending another second on it, so I bit my tongue. We went immediately began working on the verses. Katy had already mapped out some beautiful images; building forts out of tents, running away and never looking back, etc. From that we wove a beautiful story together. I’m really excited how the video turned out because it’s exactly what we spoke of when writing it. Finally she went in to lay down vocals, I was freaking out that I wasn’t able to reveal my “Teenage Dream” version yet, and it wasn’t until she had recorded the whole thing that I pulled Luke and Max aside and told them about my idea. When I sang it to them they said “Well why didn’t you say that in the first place?!” I had tried! Anyway, we re-cut the chorus and Katy was much happier with it. That was the most important thing to me. The “Skin tight jeans” line in the bridge was a scrap that came from our “Try me on” version, it happened to rhyme with Teenage Dream, so I guess it wasn’t a complete waste of time!

When we listened to the play back we were all so pumped that it had paid off. I remember Max sitting back and saying, “I wish we could bottle this feeling”. It was really magical.

Kazemi: The youth inspiration clearly came out to be a success! This may be difficult, but do you have a favorite track on the record that you wrote?

Bonnie::  Teenage Dream. California Gurls is amazing too though, Katy was brilliant to bring that title back and spin it the way she did. We had a lot of fun thinking up 90’s themed lyrics for that one, the gin and juice line was a must and the Jeep line was pretty funny. Jeeps are SOO 90’s!! Haha! When I heard Snoop was on the song, I could have died. It was a dream come true- Teenage Dream comes true! Literally! Haha.  TGIF is pretty much a word for word description of our trip to Santa Barbara, so I love that one. It’s really kitschy, fun, and fills me with nostalgia. Another song I wrote, “Part of Me”. That one is beautiful. Katy sings with so much emotion and when I heard the chorus for the first time it gave me chills. It is a very real and raw song. I didn’t write on ET but I wish I did. That is my fav besides Teenage dream. But Teenage Dream is my ultimate because it felt extremely personal to me. I feel like I contributed to it the most of the four songs I worked on with and I seriously wanted to cry when I heard it was the album title.  I had so much fun working with Katy, Luke and Max. We make a great team! Who knows? You might just hear some more from us on my own upcoming album…

Kazemi: Enough about Britney and everyone else!! Rumors are circulating that Dr. Luke will be producing your sophomore follow-up from 2004’s debut  “Trouble.” You obviously have grown as an artist, 7 years later and you kind of already covered the youthful stuff on Trouble and expressed the rest of ideas on “Teenage Dream.” How does it differ when you are writing for yourself and for another artist?

Bonnie: The rumors are true; Dr. Luke and I are just starting to put together ideas for my second album. I think the main difference in writing for myself versus other artist is that lyrically, I take more chances. I’ve learned through my time in the songwriting trenches, that when I write something ballsy, a lot of the labels will be like “Oh, so-and-so would never say that” or “It’s too smart”. I tend to simplify and sweeten a majority of the things I write for other people, I like to take risk on my own stuff, go a little bit ‘left field’.

Kazemi: You have credits for all the music and lyrics on your debut album “Somebody.” That is quite impressive, you must be meticulous, a perfectionist, or have some type of OCD! [Laughs]

Bonnie: Funny you should say that, my whole life I was kind of a fuck up and everyone thought I’d never amount to anything. Now I am so driven and a total workaholic!! I was obsessed with writing every word and every note, which is impressive I suppose, but it didn’t do me much good, did it? I’ve learned that two heads are better than one and now I love to collaborate. I’m proud that I created a piece of art that came completely from myself, I now prefer working with others to get out of my head a bit.

Kazemi: So for your sophomore album, is Luke the only producer who’s signed up so far? You’ve worked with Ke$ha in the past, do you think she will grab the pen for your record too? Have you been working on material for it yet?

Bonnie: I will be working with Dr Luke, Max Martin, Greg Kurstin, Josh Abraham, and Oliver Goldstein, who is my main collaborator. He is kind of my musical soul mate because he can do so much; he can do the really hard electronic stuff and then can sit down and create something beautiful on live instruments. He’s my favorite producer right now. I would love to collaborate with Ke$ha on this project, and Katy as well, I have a top-secret plan for us… She doesn’t know it yet though!  [Laughs] I actually have bazillion songs I’ve written; it’s just about narrowing it down to one cohesive sound. I will probably just start from scratch and write all new stuff.

Kazemi: What kind of pop sound are you going for? The first album wasn’t your typical pop record; it had more of an acoustic sound but was still radio friendly. People have said that you are going to be the next Katy Perry, I feel like that is just a generalized statement considering you have worked together. Will your sound be anything different then what we’ve heard lately? It would be nice to hear you contribute to the pop revolution everyone is raving about; we still haven’t heard it yet.

Bonnie: I take being the “next Katy Perry” as a compliment, because I really love her work. But I will probably be more like Katy Perry’s evil twin. It will have the poptastic dance-ability but with more of an edge. I want to borrow from some of the eighties glory… big, anthemic sing along songs with crazy modern production. I am also toying with the idea of changing my name for this project, since I’ve kind of already done “Bonnie Mckee.” I’m interested in reemerging with a completely new identity, sound, and perspective. So don’t freak out, if my Twitter name change! I can’t wait to get on stage again!  It’s going to be fresh, fun, and ballsy!

Though she hails from across the pond, the 22-year old pop tart co-wrote Miley Cyrus‘ hit, “Party in the U.S.A.” and is now ready to conquer the rest of America.

Carrie Underwood: “When I gain weight, it’s in the spare-tire area. I’ve told trainers abs are a physical impossibility for me. And every single time, they’re like, ‘Well, we’ll get you abs!’ So do I have them? No! But they’re as flat as they’re probably going to get. Push-ups work out everything. If you do them right, you’ll feel it in your abs. I do four sets of 10 to 20.”

Jessica Alba: Alba does this all-over toning move: Begin standing and holding 5lb dumbbells – your left arm should be chin height and your right arm should be extended to the ceiling. Take a giant step to your right, landing in a lunge, with your right knee bent and angled slightly forward. Keep your left leg straight while simultaneously lowering right arm to shoulder height. Pause momentarily, then push off your right leg, returning to the starting position with your feet together and right arm extended to ceiling. Perform 12 reps then repeat on left side. Perform 2 sets.

Cheryl Cole: While in girl band Girls Aloud Cheryl lost a lot of weight, and this was mostly down to the hectic schedule and continuous rehearsals and gigs, which simply meant she was burning a lot of calories doing dance workouts. Cheryl would often perform this fitness routine, as devised by the bands personal trainer: 30 minutes running on the treadmill. 60 minutes weight training exercises.

Zoe Saldana: Instead of only sweating to look good for one big event, Saldana strives to make healthy habits second nature. “After the premiere of Avatar, Steve felt like my training dropped off and he was like, ‘You need to come back.’ He was right, you really have to nurture your body,” she explains. “I have a lot of respect for people who do it, because it’s a lifestyle.”

Rihanna: Rihanna admits her body is the result of “a lot of hard work and a lot of running on the treadmill.” Carbs are the enemy but if I go three days without them, I start getting weak. If my trainer had her way, I’d eat small meals every three hours, but I sometimes only eat once or twice a day. I work out every day but I need a trainer to motivate me – I don’t find it much fun working out on my own.” “Everyone wants to have slim, perfectly-toned legs and I’m the same. I do weights but I don’t want my legs to bulk up so I do a lot of cardio. I’ve lost a lot of weight since I started working out and if I exercise every day for a week, I can drop several pounds. If I diet, I see even faster results.”

Adriana Lima: Exercises 2 hours 6 days a week. Working out should be a part of everybody’s routine,” she says. “I know sometimes you don’t have time — that’s why I love jumping rope, because you can take it with you anywhere and you don’t need to do it, like, one hour. You can do it ten minutes and it’s like 45 minutes of running.”

Amanda Seyfried: “Running a half hour four to five days a week keeps me alright–five days, because I feel guilty when I don’t. I also go to Harley Pasternak’s three times a week, and I love it. He’s fun and we do different things every time. It’s 45 minutes, and he kicks my ass! My legs are really strong, and I feel really great. And I go to my pilates teacher, Nikiko, on the weekends–she’s all about stretching and toning and being long and lean.”

Anna Paquin: “I like to mix things up so I’m not doing the same thing every single day,” she said. She also works out on the elliptical and stationary bike she keeps in her garage. “Let’s face it, gyms aren’t open at four in the morning. So if I can’t do anything else, I can get a perfectly good workout in my garage!”

Miranda Kerr: Miranda spends about four sessions of 75 minutes each at the gym. Her workout is usually a combination of exercises targeting all muscle groups, but which places emphasis on her legs. Thus, Gelband says, Kerr does 30 minutes on her legs, 30 on her core, arms and balance, and 15 minutes on stretching afterwards. To keep her legs lean and toned (and, of course, cellulite-free), Miranda also does a 5-kilometer run and weight work, plus some boxing on the side.

Katy Perry: While Perry admits she hates working out, she stays fit by jumping rope. “I love jumping rope,” she said. “It’s like dancing. I can double jump, I can cross, I can do all of it. I look like Rocky!” “On holidays I eat whatever I feel like,” she told Women’s Health. “But on tour the catering is a lot of grilled chicken—nothing fried. Everything is organic, and I have soy milk. No chips in sight—if they’re in front of you, you eat them.”

Beyoncé: An upper body workout can get boring with all those repetitions, so Knowles added her own twist. “I’ll put on a song that I really like and do [biceps curls with] 5-pound weights the whole song,” she told us. Or, using 3-pound weights, she’ll box for the length of one track. [Doesn't count, everyone knows Beyoncé is a robot.]

Megan Fox: “I’m very lazy. I hire a personal trainer who is supposed to come three times a week. He comes to me – I don’t even have to leave the house. He’ll come to my house and I’ll be lying in the exact same spot he left me in. I’ll be like: ‘Not today! Not today!’” Even though Fox doesn’t like to exercise, she does it in order to keep those flat abs. She starts with 30 minutes of cardio, and then another half an hour of Pilates or cycling to burn some more calories and keep her slim figure.

OPI is coming out with a new Katy Perry line in January 2011! They have great fall colors and great summer colors if you want to save them for later! Cant wait until 2011 for these amazing colors to com out!

Joan doesn’t believe in the JRE (“That is such nonsense.”), but she does believe in speaking her mind:

“No one says anything bad [about celebrities] — they’re not going to say, ‘Your ass is too big, and you shouldn’t be wearing that color, and you look like a fool.’ You can’t say that so what’s the point of doing the red carpet?”

Luckily we have her dishing out the sass on E!‘s Fashion Police weekly. And that sass comes from a loving place – where that place is I could not even begin to guess, but it’s full of love. As proof, Joan admits that she is worried about the direction certain starlets are taking in their wardrobe selection:

“…[T]hey’re all trying to copy Lady Gaga. You want to say to Katy Perry, ‘You’re beautiful! You’ve got the body, wear a pretty dress. You don’t have to strap electrical stuff on your dress.’”

If anyone should say something to Katy Perry, it’s Joan. I want her swooping down from the rafters, gathering that slutty pop tart in her talons, imprisoning her in Neiman Marcus and showing her what a lady looks like. For, despite her dirty mouth and caustic wit, Joan Rivers is a classy broad:

“I am very formal. I mean, I’ll sit down with finger bowls. I think you should sit down, and a meal should be an event — it should be pretty. Everything should be pretty. Life is very rough, and I think you should make everything around you as lovely as possible.”

This from the same woman who called Betty White a “schemey little bitch.”

The issue’s cover photograph, an extreme close-up taken by photographer Alexi Lubomirski, focuses on Perry’s red lips, which have been covered in 150 ruby-colored Swarovski Elements. In the Zinio edition, motion graphics create sparkle and shine and a behind-the-scenes video of Perry’s cover shoot.

Maybe I’m just in a bad mood after reading the Grammy nominations heavily featuring another talentless, completely overrated pop star, Katy Perry. Oh, and also Rihanna.

Maybe I’m just bitter that the entertainment industry is at an all-time aestehtic low where mediocrity is awarded, nay, championed.

Maybe I’m just annoyed that at 20 years old, Taylor Swift has achieved so much for doing SO little, while other artists with far more talent who are far more interesting will continue to toil and struggle, sustained only by the passion for their craft and a healthy drug habit.

But whatever it is, I have absolutely no faith in pop culture anymore. I, who was your biggest fan. How could you, zeitgeist? How could you turn so violently? And who is to blame?

9/11, that’s who.Everything started sucking hardcore after that. The economy, Washington D.C., pop culture. It all went to hell in a knock-off Chanel handbag.

Don’t you see? By supporting the Taylor Swifts, Rihannas and Katy Perrys of the world, we’re just letting the terrorists win. Won’t someone just think of the children?

If you’re at all like me (read: drunk), then you’re probably wondering “Where in gay hell is Robyn?” Well, luckily (or not depending on your view of winning a Grammy) our pop maven from Sweden is nominated for Best Dance Recording for “Dancing On My Own,” i.e. “The Best Song of 2010.”

The Grammys really don’t reflect what’s going on in music today therefore they don’t matter. Hell, I can’t remember the last time then was the Grammys did matter?
