Three 1-Bag Memorial Day Weekend Getaways: Let Us Do the Packing

Ahh Memorial Day: beaches, bar-b-ques and bright sunny skies. The first long weekend to commence the summer is upon us, and we couldn’t be more excited to get out of the city and into our new warm-weather clothes. Working in fashion, we know it’s difficult not to be a heavy packer, even when you’re only going away for a few days. So here it is, our picks for three one-bag Memorial Day getaways to the coolest destinations, each within a few short hours of New York City. And we’ve already done the packing for you, carefully outlined in the guide below. Happy holiday!

Keds has definitely been making the rounds, if you know what I mean. As in Keds is a lot like a doorknob, everyone gets a turn. After bedding the Gap, Keds launches another collaboration, this time with artist Jenny Holzer.

The folks at Keds must be pretty busy lately. After launching an awesome fall line for Gap, they’ve gone and collaborated with artist Jenny Holzer on these super cool Champion Sneakers ($90) now available on Bloomingdales.com. Proceeds from the shoe go straight to the Whitney Museum of American Art, as we told you last month – so you get an affordable piece of art, and the money goes back where it belongs. That’ll put a skip in your step.

What to Wear When Dating a Twihard?

Everyone has a fetish. With the new release of Eclipse, the Twilight fetish is taking over. Everything vampire themed is suddenly very popular. If you go on a date with a Twilight lover, known as a “Twihard,” choosing an outfit might be difficult. Lucky for you, I’m here to help.

First and foremost, vampires are very classic dressers. This means that your Twihard most likely won’t appreciate the newest Hervé Léger dress. He’s probably going to want you to dress like a character in the movie to make his fantasy become a reality.

The Pants

To impress your Twihard, I recommend wearing jeans. They’re simple and safe. Not only are they comfortable, but everyone wears jeans. Even Bella. My favorite brand of jeans is J Brand. Their jeans are flattering and are pretty reasonably priced.

The Top

A tank-top works well with jeans and is sure to be appreciated by your Twihard. This Alexander Wang tank top is my newest favorite. It’s plain, but is accentuated with leather. It isn’t something that Bella would wear, but it’s a little more exciting. In my opinion, leather is uber sexy. Besides, who doesn’t love a little leather every so often?

The Shoes

If you want to really channel Bella, leave your heels at home and buy a pair of sneakers. I like this pair by Alice + Olivia. Not only are they sparkly so you don’t feel like a complete fashion dud, but they’re also cheap! How can you beat that?

So, now that you know what to wear to impress your Twihard, get out there and go shopping. The worst thing that can happen will be he’ll turn out to be a complete freak. But at least you’ll have a few new items to spice up your wardrobe!

COLLAB: Keds and The Gap

The shoes are due out in fall 2010, but will be available in stores starting in July. Women’s Champion styles will come in denim, metallic canvas, and various prints, and prices for both genders will range from $40 to $50.
