Katie Fogarty and Kendra Spears star in another editorial filled with sleek 80’s styling from Harpers, kind of ironic that it titled “The New Shapes” when we’ve been seeing this silhouette everywhere all season long. The only thing fresh about this editorial is the sleek skyscrapers in the background and the overall Americana feel.

Here is the spread from the latest, and LAST, issue of Mixte Mag, featuring model Kendra Spears, shot by photographer Paul Empson, and appropriately titled ‘Arizona Dream.’
Not my fave spread from Mixte, the dessert seems to swallow the model and the clothing, and even though ‘Arizona’ makes for a beautiful background, this spread should have been featured in National Geographic.

It’s hard to believe that Mixte, a French niche magazine, with such exquisite spreads is folding after the release of its June issue. Shot by Paul Empson, “Arizona Dream,” Mixte’s second to last spread, is one of their best, a perfect combination of south of the border fashions and natural scenery. While many aren’t fond of the clashy-garment editorials, I’m completely eating this one up, loving the layers and visible texture. To be honest, Kendra Spears wouldn’t have been my model of choice for this spread. Call me literal, but I think this spread needs a bit more of an ethnic look to tie it all together.

Kendra Spears is making hearts swoon in her new in-store ads for Calvin Klein Swim. Sebastian Kim shot the ad which makes the new model appear like she’s either seriously battling some static cling or she’s really laying down uncomfortably. Can’t tell.

Like any sane person, I deleted my Myspace account once I realized that I wasted at least four hours each day changing my layout design, took pathetic photos specifically for new Myspace defaults and stalked my ex-boyfriend to see who he was macking on that week. Now granted, I’ve been Myspace sober for over three years (thanks to Facebook. damnit) but Kendra Spears, the new face all over the runways, owes her whole aspiring career to Myspace.
Say sayonara to the typical college co-ed and hello to the winner of Ford Models’ Myspace.com contest! So she didn’t win the $100,000 contract with Ford Models, but who can complain walking for Gucci, Hermès, and Valentino in Paris and Milan? Recently the 20 year old Portland State University student has been working on shoots for Dazed and Confused, Italian Marie Claire and an upcoming BCBG ad campaign.
Anyone else wondering why Kendra Spears didn’t wind up in New York Fashion Week last month? Well, according to bookers, they aren’t too keen on Spears’ Cindy Crawford lip mole. Well too bad for us here in the States, it looks like European bookers know a pretty face, mole or no mole, when they see one!
