			<p>- <em>Ebony</em>&#8216;s gotten into the <strong>Tumblr</strong> game and they&#8217;re digging into their archives where gems like this stunning <strong>Diana Ross</strong> cover from 1970 are just sitting around waiting to be fawned over. [<em><a href="http://ebonymag.tumblr.com/" target="_blank">Ebony Tumblr</a></em>]<span id="more-224978"></span></p>
<p><a href="http://ficdn.fashionindie.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/diana-ross-ebony-1970.png"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-224998" title="diana-ross-ebony-1970" src="http://ficdn.fashionindie.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/diana-ross-ebony-1970.png" alt="INDIE NEWSROOM: Ebony Tumbles/ Bieber Goes with God/ Brad & Rachel Continue Verbally Scratching Each Others Eyes Out" width="500" height="613" /></a></p>
<p>- &#8220;You think gay people love <strong>Gaga</strong>? You should hear when a <strong>Robyn</strong> song comes on at a gay bar. Then it is fucking <em>over</em>.&#8221; Truer words have never been spoken. I&#8217;ve burned down several dancefloors to &#8220;Dancing On My Own&#8221; and have been practicing my <a href="http://www.hulu.com/watch/309559/saturday-night-live-robyn-call-your-girlfriend" target="_blank">backwards roll for &#8220;Call Your Girlfriend.&#8221;</a> These and other alleged truths, courtesy of &#8220;The Secrets Gay Men Don’t Want Straight People to Know.&#8221; [<em><a href="http://gawker.com/5873476/the-secrets-gay-men-dont-want-straight-people-to-know" target="_blank">Gawker</a></em>]</p>
<p>- Fellow Greendale fans, rejoice! <em>Community</em> is returning after all. However, a fourth season is still up in the air. Because god knows we need more <em>Whitney</em> in our lives. [<em><a href="http://www.eonline.com/news/watch_with_kristin/nbc_scoop_from_tcas_community_returning/284476?cmpid=sn-000000-twitterfeed-365-topstories&amp;utm_source=dlvr.it&amp;utm_medium=twitter&amp;utm_campaign=twitterfeed_topstories&amp;dlvrit=48939" target="_blank">E!</a></em>]</p>
<p>- <strong>Justin Bieber</strong> got a tattoo of his lord and savior <strong>Jesus Christ</strong> on his calf. Shortly after getting inked, the Biebs downed a 40, smashed it on the sidewalk, hopped in his low-rider and got high in the parking lot of a Taco Bell with his other cholo buds. [<em><a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/05/justin-bieber-jesus-tattoo_n_1186800.html?ref=mostpopular" target="_blank">Huff Po</a></em>]</p>
<p>- <strong>Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge</strong>, née <strong>Kate Middleton</strong> may be having an 80s-themed 30th birthday party. Meaning Will can once again <a href="http://fashionindie.com/indie-newsroom-diana-ross-finally-a-grammy-winner-prince-william-goes-to-werq-the-inevitable-kardashian-sweatshop-scandal/" target="_blank">bust out his sweet dance moves</a> to the delight of sassy black girls everywhere. [<em><a href="http://nymag.com/daily/fashion/2012/01/kate-middletons-30th-birthday-party.html" target="_blank">The Cut</a></em>]</p>
<p>- <em>Absolutely Fabulous</em> finally returns this Sunday on the BBC. Get excited, Sweetie Dahling. [<em><a href="http://www.vogue.com/culture/article/the-age-of-excess-absolutely-fabulous-returns-with-three-new-episodes/" target="_blank">Vogue</a></em>]</p>
<p>- <strong>Brad Goreski</strong> and <strong>Rachel Zoe</strong> still aren&#8217;t on great terms it seems, despite Brad&#8217;s <a href="http://fashionindie.com/tilda-swinton-auntie-mame-rihanna-armani-ads-sexy-rachel-zoe-brad-goreski/" target="_blank">olive branch to the Baby Skyler</a>. Zoe made it perfectly clear, via a retweet that has since disappeared (so SUPER perfectly clear) that she wants <em>It&#8217;s a Brad, Brad World</em> to fall on its bespectacled face. [<em><a href="http://www.wwd.com/media-news/fashion-memopad/brads-revenge-5458882?src=nl/mornReport/20120106" target="_blank">WWD</a></em>]</p>
<p>- In addition to all things crotchless, <strong>American Apparel</strong> is now specializing in vintage scarves, including <strong>Yves Saint Laurent</strong>, <strong>Calvin Klein</strong> and <strong>Kenzo</strong>. [<em><a href="http://racked.com/archives/2012/01/06/vintage-ysl-scarf-up-for-grabs-on-american-apparel.php" target="_blank">Racked</a></em>]</p>
<p>- And why not shouldn&#8217;t AA class it up a bit? According to CEO/<a href="http://fashionindie.com/muse-of-the-world-coming-on-guys/" target="_blank">repeat sex offender</a> <strong>Dov Charney</strong>, American&#8217;s getting &#8220;its groove back.&#8221; thanks to a recent influx of  consumer dollars. [<em><a href="http://fashionista.com/2012/01/dov-charney-says-american-apparel-is-getting-its-groove-back/" target="_blank">Fashionista</a></em>]</p>
<p>- <em>Bridesmaids</em> is snatching up trophies and nominations left and right, and while it seem ripe for a sequel, star and writer <strong>Kristen Wiig</strong> is not interested. But a sequel might happen, nonetheless, focusing on breakout star <strong>Melissa McCarthy</strong>&#8216;s brash and ballsy character. Two words of advice: <em><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0413099/" target="_blank">Evan Almighty</a></em>. [<em><a href="http://carpetbagger.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/01/06/bridesmaids-rolls-along-but-will-it-roll-toward-a-sequel-without-kristen-wiig/?ref=awardsseason" target="_blank">NYT</a></em>]</p>

			<p><em><strong>by: Frédérique Renaut of <a title="Hans Feurer back in VOGUE Paris" href="http://www.benjaminkanarekblog.com/nil" target="_blank">Benjamin Kanarek Blog</a></strong></em></p>
<div class="mceTemp" style="text-align: justify">
<div id="attachment_15802" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 410px"><a href="http://www.benjaminkanarekblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/emmanuelle-alt-©-Garance-Doré.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-15802 " src="http://www.benjaminkanarekblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/emmanuelle-alt-©-Garance-Doré.jpg" alt="Hans Feurer back in VOGUE Paris" width="400" height="463" title="Hans Feurer back in VOGUE Paris" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Emmanuelle Alt © Garance Doré</p></div>
<p>Emmanuelle Alt is writing her own ticket for VOGUE Paris. I was not expecting a fundamental change in the Editorial Direction being that she has been the Fashion Director of the magazine for over ten years and collaborating with Carine Roitfeld. Thus the assumption that there would be little change from the status quo. <span id="more-192540"></span>However, the April 2011 issue of VOGUE Paris gives a clear new direction; bye bye porno chic, provocation, unjustified nudity, welcome softness, lifestyle, casual clothing. Emmanuelle&#8217;s approach is more consensual and obviously more commercial, which the fashion customer might find more accessible.</p>
<blockquote><p><span style="font-size: 16px;font-style: italic">I want to show in French Vogue more and more a lot of clothes &#8230; It’s a different point of view, but nobody gave me a mission to change it or make it more commercial. she stressed in her <a href="http://www.wwd.com/wwd-publications/wwd/2011-03-18?id=3558411&amp;date=today&amp;module=tn/today#/article/media-news/alt-s-alternative-take-on-vogue-3558684?navSection=issues&amp;navId=3558411" target="_blank">WWD&#8217;s interview</a></span></p></blockquote>
</div>
<p style="text-align: justify">Her vision of fashion is also conditioned by the choice of photographer she has decided to collaborate with and thus don&#8217;t expect any radical changes in those she has already worked with.</p>
<blockquote>
<p style="text-align: justify"><span style="font-size: 16px;font-style: italic">I want to keep the quality, the photographers we work with—<strong>David Sims, Mert </strong>and<strong> Marcus, Mario Testino, </strong>and<strong> Bruce Weber.</strong> I don’t think there should be radical changes. The magazine should still be chic and sophisticated. <a href="http://www.vogue.com/vogue-daily/article/emmanuelle-alt-editor-of-vogue-paris-on-daria-werbowy-celebrity-covers-and-new-designers/" target="_blank">VOGUE.com interview</a></span></p>
</blockquote>
<p style="text-align: justify">There has been one huge surprise however&#8230; The Return of Hans Feurer in <a href="http://www.vogue.fr/freepages/magazine/vogue-avril-2011/vogue-avril-2011-page4" target="_blank">VOGUE Paris</a> is great news and a welcome change.</p>
<div id="attachment_15807" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 541px"><a href="http://www.benjaminkanarekblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Hans-Feurer-DR.jpg"><img class="size-large wp-image-15807 " src="http://www.benjaminkanarekblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Hans-Feurer-DR-590x393.jpg" alt="Hans Feurer back in VOGUE Paris" width="531" height="354" title="Hans Feurer back in VOGUE Paris" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Hans Feurer ©DR</p></div>
<p style="text-align: justify">Hans Feurer&#8217;s style is easily recognizable:</p>
<ul style="text-align: justify">
<li>Outdoor shoots, long lenses, grainy film aspect, blurred background, sharp on the model (bokeh effect), sunrise or sunset light and often with the introduction of back light and flare.</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align: justify">This style was in &#8220;VOGUE&#8221; in the 70&#8242;s and 80&#8242;s and has come back in to fashion since certain internet bloggers started to photograph street fashion a few years ago. The styling often associated with his photography is ethnic, tribal in wildly natural spaces. However, he can express himself in a more urban environment as he did recently in <a href="http://wibagency.wordpress.com/2011/03/22/photographer-hans-feurer/" target="_blank">French VOGUE</a> with Supermodel Anja Rubik.</p>
<div id="attachment_15812" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 515px"><a href="http://www.benjaminkanarekblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Hans-Feurer-VOGUE-Paris-April-2011-3.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-15812" src="http://www.benjaminkanarekblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Hans-Feurer-VOGUE-Paris-April-2011-3.jpg" alt="Hans Feurer back in VOGUE Paris" width="505" height="700" title="Hans Feurer back in VOGUE Paris" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Anja Rubik by Hans Feurer for VOGUE Paris - April 2011</p></div>
<p style="text-align: center"><img class="size-large wp-image-15817 aligncenter" src="http://www.benjaminkanarekblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Contributor-Hans-Feurer-VOGUE-Paris-April-2011-0-557x758.jpg" alt="Hans Feurer back in VOGUE Paris" width="365" height="498" title="Hans Feurer back in VOGUE Paris" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">Feurer, a highly renowned fashion photographer in the 70s and 80s, is Swiss born and studied photography in London. In the &#8217;60s, he became a photographer for British Vogue, Vogue Paris, US Vogue, Marie Claire, French Elle&#8230; He photographed most of the major supermodels from Claudia Schiffer to Laetitia Casta with Yasmeen Ghauri, Christy Turlington&#8230; He launched Amber Valletta in French Elle Magazine.</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>Who do you dream to photograph?</strong></p>
<p>- I had the chance to work with the most beautiful women in the world from Pat Cleveland, Christy Turlington to Stephanie Seymour&#8230; Kate Moss is the only one that I haven&#8217;t photographed. Excerpt of his interview in the Contributor Section of French VOGUE April 2011.</p></blockquote>
<p style="text-align: justify">I would add &#8220;so Far&#8221;&#8230; , but I have the feeling that with his statement in the Contributor Section of the magazine, this omission will be repaired quickly enough.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify"><a title="Archives" href="http://www.benjaminkanarekblog.com/nil" target="_blank"><strong>Some of his archives</strong></a></h3>
<p>In the early 60&#8242;s, he was assisted by French Photographer Patrick Demarchelier. Hans Feurer is also renowned for his collaboration with Kenzo for several of their Ad Campaigns in the 70&#8242;s and 80&#8242;s and was well known for his shooting of lingerie and swimsuits in a beach environment. In 1974, he directed the famous Pirelli Calendar.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">Over the past few years Hans Feurer is back on track with magazines the likes of Numéro, I-D and VOGUE China, etc&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">I really appreciate the fact that Emmanuelle Alt went for the original &#8220;Real Deal&#8221; photographer rather than one of the numerous copies amongst the younger fashion photographers emulating his and <a href="http://www.eddykohli.com/" target="_blank">Eddy Kohli</a>&#8216;s style.</p>
<div id="attachment_15826" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 200px"><a href="http://www.benjaminkanarekblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/DIM-Ad-©-eddy-kohli.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-15826" src="http://www.benjaminkanarekblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/DIM-Ad-©-eddy-kohli.jpg" alt="Hans Feurer back in VOGUE Paris" width="190" height="266" title="Hans Feurer back in VOGUE Paris" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">DIM Advertising © Eddy Kohli</p></div>

			<p><strong>Elodie</strong> is one of the most popular French bloggers. Her blog is a mix of fashion, art, travel, her love for Paris, vintage, and culture. Read after the jump&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a rel="attachment wp-att-128013" href="http://fashionindie.com/interview-french-blogger-eleonore-bridge/tea-cup/"><img class="size-full wp-image-128013  aligncenter" title="tea-cup" src="http://fashionindie.lookbooks.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/tea-cup.jpg" alt="INTERVIEW: French Blogger Eleonore Bridge" width="530" height="795" /></a></p>
<p><span id="more-127992"></span></p>
<p>At first her blog was called &#8220;<em>la méchante</em>&#8221; (the mean girl) but she switched to <a href="http://www.leblogdelamechante.fr/" target="_blank"><strong>Eleonore Bridge</strong> </a>because she&#8217;s clearly adorable.</p>
<p><strong>How would you describe your style?</strong></p>
<p>I love very feminine outfits, sometimes a bit childish. It&#8217;s because I consider fashion a game, I love playing with my wardrobe. I also have a lot of vintage things and accessorizes from my grandmother.  I also try to sometimes dress retro.</p>
<p><strong>What sets you apart from the other style bloggers?</strong></p>
<p>I don&#8217;t know&#8230; Maybe by not following all the trends, I don&#8217;t care if one day I&#8217;m wrong and have a &#8220;fashion faux pas&#8221; as we say in French, but who cares? It won&#8217;t kill me, I&#8217;d rather make mistakes than wear boring outfits.</p>
<p>I also take really good care of my pictures, I try to find beautiful places in Paris or in houses and apartments so it&#8217;s not just about the clothes: the place is really important.</p>
<p><strong>How has your life changed since starting the blog?</strong></p>
<p>I found my 2 lasts jobs through my blog and left my first career at <strong>L&#8217;Oréal</strong> where I was an interior architect. I now work a lot more but it&#8217;s great. I&#8217;m also learning photography for 2 years through my blog and I love it. I met a lot of really nice people from all over the world thanks to my blog.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-128010" href="http://fashionindie.com/interview-french-blogger-eleonore-bridge/dahlia-cape/"><img class="size-full wp-image-128010  aligncenter" title="dahlia-cape" src="http://fashionindie.lookbooks.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/dahlia-cape.jpg" alt="INTERVIEW: French Blogger Eleonore Bridge" width="530" height="795" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Who are your Favorite designers?</strong></p>
<p><strong>Viktor &amp; Rolf </strong>for their cartoon universe and <strong>Kenzo</strong> for the prints, and of course romantic and funny French designers like <strong>Sonia Rykiel, </strong>and <strong>Chloé</strong>.</p>
<p><strong>Where do you like to shop in NYC?</strong></p>
<p>When I went there I looooved <strong>Brooklyn</strong> and all the shops around <strong>Bedford</strong> (Williamsburg). The vintage stores are amazing there.</p>
<p><strong>What do you like the most about NYC?</strong><br />
For fashion, I love being able to wear whatever I want, a mini skirt for example or a giant bow: nobody will care. In Paris, you would be like a clown and people would stare at you, fashion is not really fun in Paris, it&#8217;s really too serious. I love how New Yorkers dress up when they&#8217;re going out!</p>
<p>And of course, in New York I&#8217;m obsessed with the food, milk shakes and breakfasts and I really envy New Yorkers for their amazing Central Park!</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-128012" href="http://fashionindie.com/interview-french-blogger-eleonore-bridge/short-blanc/"><img class="size-full wp-image-128012  aligncenter" title="short-blanc" src="http://fashionindie.lookbooks.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/short-blanc.jpg" alt="INTERVIEW: French Blogger Eleonore Bridge" width="530" height="795" /></a> <strong>What is your favorite item in your closet?</strong></p>
<p>My leather jacket from <strong>Yves St Laurent</strong>, I bought it in a second hand store in Paris, it&#8217;s a unique piece from a fashion show. It&#8217;s perfect and has a story: the number of the outfit and name of the model.</p>
<p><strong>Tell us about your love for Alice in Wonderland?</strong></p>
<p>I loved the Disney cartoon and the strange world Alice discovers. It used to scare me when I was a little girl, but we all love fear! But this year Alice became a product and it&#8217;s just a shame&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>What do you do for living (to make money)?</strong></p>
<p>A lot of things, I used to be a furniture designer and interior architect but now I&#8217;m a web consultant, I write and take pictures for many websites, my job doesn&#8217;t have a name.</p>
<p><strong>Pick 5 people, dead or alive, to have dinner with.</strong></p>
<p>Lewis <strong>C</strong>arroll, Edgar Allan Poe, Helena Rubinstein, Jake Gyllenhaal and Audrey Hepburn.</p>
<p><strong>Where do you see yourself in five years?</strong></p>
<p>I don&#8217;t want to imagine, I don&#8217;t like when I know where I&#8217;m going. I like mystery, that&#8217;s more exciting!</p>
<p><strong>We heard you have a wedding in the works, tell us about that?</strong></p>
<p>You have five hours? No sincerely I can&#8217;t tell you about my wedding, it will be too long. I just want to say that I want people to have fun, that I love my fiancé more than people can imagine (we&#8217;re a 10 year old couple).</p>
<p><strong>How will your blog change once you are married?</strong></p>
<p>It won&#8217;t change, there will only be my wedding pictures:)</p>
<p><strong>You often blog about other things besides fashion, what else fascinates you?</strong></p>
<p>Photography, beautiful images. I can spend hours looking at beautiful pictures.</p>
<p><strong>If you had one wish, what would it be?</strong></p>
<p>Be happy, have fun and in good health for all my life!</p>
<p>Thanks Elodie.</p>

From Gucci to Kenzo and Dsquared to John Galliano, 2009 really catalyzed Lachowski&#8217;s career with Ford Models. After winning a modeling competition in December 2008, Lachowski not only landed himself a modeling contract, but appeared in a Dior Homme advertisement as well as numerous editorials for various magazines. Not bad for a kid who just turned 18!</p>

In these times, I wanted to send a message of vibrancy.&#8221;</p>

<p>7. Josh Goot: His sleek and monochromatic autumn/winter 2009 collection had London based Goot dubbed the new king of modernism, for his simple yet sophisticated use of black and white on shifts and neatly tailored suits.</p>
<p>Has an eye for: Colour blocking and clean lines.</p>

<p>8. Mary Katrantzou: Since her fun graphic print collection for autumn/winter 2009, that featured dresses emblazoned with images of perfume bottles, we have not been able to shake the feeling that Katrantzou is going places. Having worked under fellow Greek, Sophia Kokosalaki and freelanced for Bill Blass, the young print designer also makes jewellery to complement her collections.</p>
<p>Has an eye for: Digital prints and bold, industrial jewellery.</p>

<p>9: Maria Francesca Pepe: With style insiders dipping into Pepe&#8217;s jewellery box for her hand-crafted Italian pieces to adorn their fashion pages &#8211; including Harper&#8217;s Bazaar &#8211; it is little wonder the designer already has a loyal following. You might have seen her designs embellishing the shows of Roksanda Illincic (S/S09 and A/W09), Emilio De La Morena (A/W09) and Louise Grey (A/W09), for which she designed a shoe collection.</p>

The vine wrapped around the wide-eyed model is sensual, yet innocent. I very much like this ad, but I wonder how Kenzo&#8217;s desired target market will react. What do you think?</p>
