Miss Piggy has been hogging the fashion spotlight for quite some time, but now it’s time for all the Muppets to step out in style. Have designers like Tom Ford, Rick Owens, Versace and Michael Kors been secretly inspired by the Muppet clan? We think so, because we found a whole ton of muppet doppelgängers on the runway. They took over Good Morning America this morning, and now they’re taking over FashionIndie. What with all this media, once they’re done saving their theater, maybe they can help save Fashion Week.

Kermit the Frog Looks Undoubtedly Handsome in Brooks Brothers

For his grand return to the silver screen with The Muppets movie opening Thanksgiving weekend, Brooks Brothers dressed the extremely handsome and talented Kermit the Frog to promote his exciting new film. In addition, a featured interview with everyone’s favorite little green man has a special place on the company’s website.

“Through the years Brooks Brothers has famously dressed high profile individuals including nearly every American president, captains of industry and countless actors and actresses for appearances both on and off screen,” said Claudio Del Vecchio, Brooks Brothers Chairman & CEO. “Kermit the Frog is an international legend admired by children and adults alike. Naturally we hopped at the chance to create his clothing.”

“I was very excited about my new wardrobe,” said Kermit. “I don’t often wear clothes but when I do I want something classic and expertly tailored,” he added.

“Brooks Brothers was the perfect match and fit for me,” said Kermit. “Growing up as a tadpole in a swamp with 3,265 brothers and sisters, you can imagine that I had a lot of hand-me-downs. I love the fact that these items were made exclusively for me.”

Love it, adorable, we can’t get enough. Disney’s The Muppets opens in theaters November 23.

The Muppets Wriggle Their Way Into Opening Ceremony

With a karate chop and a plaintive banjo strum, the Muppets x Opening Ceremony collection is finally here. Kermit, Gonzo, Fozzie, Animal and of course, the diva herself, Miss Piggy get plastered all over sweaters ($230), hoodies ($65) and T-shirts ($45) with the occasional button-down ($180) thrown in for good measure. Noticeably absent, however, is Janice, the cooler than cool, perpetually stoned — tell me once that you’ve seen her with her eyes wide open — Donatella Versace-esque lead guitarist of my favorite band, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. SpiritHoods Channel Muppets for Fall

Glee Fashion Highs and Lows: Chris Colfer and Lea Michele Graduate

Resident fashionisto and banner gay Kurt Hummel (AKA Golden Globe winner Chris Colfer) rarely takes a style misstep. Impeccably dressed, we all often wonder, he can afford… Commes des Garçons? Conversely, we also often ponder why Rachel Berry (AKA Broadway superstar Lea Michele) has such an awkwardly negative relationship with fashion. I mean, hello! She has two gay dads! Bless her heart, she tries, but Rachel fails where Kurt flies. Sadly, the two will be graduating from Glee at the end of the third season. I repeat: Lea Michele and Chris Colfer (and Cory Frankenteen Monteith) will NOT be returning for season 4. Let’s look back before they’re gone.

Deep in the trenches of Glee:

Kurt delights in a light trench and upturned toed shoes. Bow tie and shouldered brief in tow, he is easily the chicest kid in Ohio.

Rachel tries to go all Sex and the City on their big trip to New York, but she ends up looking more Cat and the Hat.

Smurfette Makes Her Editorial Debut in Harper’s

Lara Stone, get off the road because Smurfette is going faster than you can drive. In celebration/blatant promotion of the new The Smurfs movie, Harper’s Bazaar tapped the blue babe for an accessory editorial.

The lone female in a sea of blue balls, Smurfette models, commercial-smiles and generally “gives” in Marc Jacobs, Lanvin, Dolce & Gabbana and Louis Vuitton.

She looks great and all, but frankly, I’m awaiting that true diva of the silver screen, Miss Piggy.

As an editor at Vogue Paris – hilarious timing by the way — in this fall’s The Muppets, La Piggy is giving Carine/Emmanuelle a serious run for their money.

For decades now – or arguably centuries – womens fashion shows have continually pushed creative boundaries, putting together shows and outfits that could give Lady Gaga a run for her (supposed lack-of) money. Designers like McQueen have been hailed for their “weirdness” and embraced by fashionistas the world over, even if the garments were not quite wearable off the runway. This morning, however, I came across a review by the Huffington Post of the strangest ensembles that were presented in Milan at the latest Mens Fashion Week. First of all, I agree that these looks are bizarre. Gold lips and man-corsets (cue Howard Moon)? I’m not a fan. But I wouldn’t go so far as to say that I’m “hoping no male we know will try them at home“. Why is there a double standard for men in fashion? The Carrie Bradshaws of the world are praised for their bold style choices, even if they’re sporting a fake flower larger than a basketball or a full-lenth see-through doily dress. If a bloke wants to wear a long pink sweater and matching bike shorts, or wrap a crocodile harness bag around his chest, I say go for it. Women don’t favour fashion for men’s sake, so why should men let their dress be dictated by what the women at Huffington Post think? So for all you guys out there wearing gold lipstick, more power to you!

Luckily though, there are some alternative style choices to strange burkas and kermit the frog green. Here are some of the more successful looks from Mens Fashion Week:

Oh god, this is total bullfrog shit.

This is the type of corny ass fashion stuff you see coming out of first year FIT students, you know that “couture” wannabe stuff that’s made when a student notices a commercial featuring Kermit selling Pizza Hut Stuffed Crust and realizes that the frog is the spokesperson fashion so desperately needs. So he heads to the nearest Toys ‘r us and picks up 30 stuffed muppets for $20 bucks and then stitches them together and attempts to charge $5000 for the “art” piece. Of course, in this case, it isn’t some misguided fashion student, it’s French designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and it isn’t some final project for a Fashion Design class, it’s Paris Fashion Week. Either way, were going to give this an F.
