Remember that time the UK banned Julia Roberts’ Lancôme ad for tryng and failing to convince us that the Oscar winning actress hadn’t been Photoshopped into oblivion? The Brits, it seems, don’t care to turn a Botoxed cheek to computer-generated enhancement; nor do the French and the Norwegians. Feminist legislators from those European superpowers — and Norway — want all digitally-altered images to be labeled to avoid giving girls the wrong impression.

It was exactly this impression that the American Medical Association wanted to protect when it passed a policy in June to “discourage the altering of photographs in a manner that could promote unrealistic expectations of appropriate body image.” But was this enough? Would that stomp the scourge of rampant Photoshop mutilation?

Enter the dashing Dr. Hany Faid, riding up on his microscope of justice, his pristine lab coat effortlessly billowing in the wind. Along with PhD student Erica Kee, Faid enlisted hundreds of people to compare before and after photos (see below) and then determine the level of digital alteration on a scale from 1-5. They then used this research to train the software to mimic human perception.

Faid hopes this tool will be used to regulate and reduce retouching. He suggests, “Models, for example, might well say, ‘I don’t want to be a 5. I want to be a 1.’” Perhaps this new breakthrough will prevent anymore unfortunate airbrush mishaps and won’t result in the complete devastation of the women’s magazine industry. [NYT]

Whether SJP and co. decide to tell that story, however, is anyone’s guess:

“I think it always comes down to story and what is the story people want to tell…I think there are lots of talented storytellers and obviously lots of talented actors who might be a part of it.”

Parker also added that she would be open to another actress stepping into her iconic Manolos, perhaps Gossip Girl‘s Blake Lively who was allegedly being considered for a prequel wherein she would  play a teenaged Carrie Bradshaw.

I’m super excited for this movie, even though it’s already getting not so positive reviews. Loving SJP’s Valentino Couture dress, the color looks amazing on her skin. Kristen Davis opted for a vintage Jean dress from Decades Inc, love the color as well. Cynthia Nixon wore Carolina Herrera, a bit drab for such a big premier in my opinion. Of course, Kim Cattrall sexed it up in a gold Naeem Khan. More…

Leave it to SJP to change during the premier. Love love love this look, although I do wish the skirt was a bit shorter.

Seems like someone isn’t keeping a close watch on the Sex and the City 2: Escape from Menopause Mountain, cause this batch of clips was just leaked. The writing and comical puns that once made this movie great seem to have dried up faster than Kim Cattrall‘s vadge, but unfortunately I’m still going to see this desperate ploy for more money sequel when it hits theaters.

Michelle Williams and Kim Cattrall have been caught in the same white, ruffle Lanvin dress recently. Which blonde wore it best? I love it the most on Michelle. The ruffles work better on her smaller frame and I love her choice of black accessories and heels with the dress.
