Shoe MEN-vy: Kris Van Assche Open Cut Sneakers
Edited by Jessica Lapidos
Ideal for hybrid days of outdoor play and S&M (standing and modeling, please!), these hi-top sneaks/sandals have enough lace breadth to really hold it down. Kris Van Assche, a Royal Antwerp Academy graduate and Yves Saint Laurent and Dior Homme alum, his eye for dressing up menswear is finely tuned. By paring down this one sneaker on, he’s made it mightily refined.

From super-low rise flood water slacks to oversized pinstripe coats, Kris Van Assche had all bases covered for his Dior Homme Fall 2010 menswear collection. Whereas past collections were skinny and fitted, Van Assche dabbled in the baggy and saggy for this season. As per usual, looks stayed in the dark, if not neutral color scheme and introduced some memorable duds like an oversized leather turtleneck, some super drop-crotch slacks and some silver outlined ties.
Relaxed, slouchy, athletic and slightly militaristic are the perfect adjectives to describe Kris Van Assche Fall 2010 menswear collection. Buckle loaded biker boots, plaid suits, droop-neck turtle necks, military grade wool and a whole lot of slouchy hats were on Van Assche’s menu. Loving the rolled-up suit sleeves as well as the extreme sheer v-necks.
