So technically Katsuhiro Ôtomo‘s 1988 anime isn’t a “film”. Worse still, it’s an anime movie. But this cartoon’s got it all: double-breasted suits, 1970s Tom Verlaine/Richard Hell get-ups, and lots of stuff for the leather daddies out there. This Film Friday, let’s take a look at Akira.

The Kris Van Assche Fall/Winter 2010 Collection is another overwhelming approach to making black distinctive with a bold yet refined approach. Using the most luxurious materials combining the finest wools with the best cottons you can be impressed by the Belgians ability to tailor a dirty look. Another facet of the collection if the addition of the subdued black/grey plaid used while the outerwear is largely clean with the trench coats and the bomber jacket impressing the most.

From super-low rise flood water slacks to oversized pinstripe coats, Kris Van Assche had all bases covered for his Dior Homme Fall 2010 menswear collection. Whereas past collections were skinny and fitted, Van Assche dabbled in the baggy and saggy for this season. As per usual, looks stayed in the dark, if not neutral color scheme and introduced some memorable duds like an oversized leather turtleneck, some super drop-crotch slacks and some silver outlined ties.

Relaxed, slouchy, athletic and slightly militaristic are the perfect adjectives to describe Kris Van Assche Fall 2010 menswear collection. Buckle loaded biker boots, plaid suits, droop-neck turtle necks, military grade wool and a whole lot of slouchy hats were on Van Assche’s menu. Loving the rolled-up suit sleeves as well as the extreme sheer v-necks.

One thing I have been noticing more and more is how hard wearing high tops can be sometimes. It’s really hard to find the right time and shoe to wear in order to avoid cheapening your look, but then came these Dior Homme shoes.

Kris Van Assche may be taking some heat for his designs lately, but his footwear collections have been amazing. I can honestly say I want every pair of these shoes.

Kris Van Assche’s Spring 2010 collection was nothing more than a few beautifully tailored blazers, oversized blouses, a-line dresses, trousers, band tops and high waisted skirts. Minimalism was the name of this designer’s game, but while garments remained simple, the leather shoes and belts made for enviable items. Totally loving the chocolate brown strap booties and it’s counterpart, skinny belt.
