Balenciaga has tapped Bella Swan as the face of an as-yet-unnamed fragrance launching this fall. Well, Nic, what do you have to say for yourself?

“Kristen embodies the modernity of the new Balenciaga fragrance with her unique sensibility and intelligence,” the designer told WWD. “From her early appearance in Panic Room to her independent choice of Welcome to the Rileys, I’ve always sensed her progressive character. In 2006, I invited her to appear in a project shot by Bruce Weber. Since then, I’ve always wished to collaborate with her further, knowing that she shares the radical spirit of Balenciaga.”

Remember that time the UK banned Julia Roberts’ Lancôme ad for tryng and failing to convince us that the Oscar winning actress hadn’t been Photoshopped into oblivion? The Brits, it seems, don’t care to turn a Botoxed cheek to computer-generated enhancement; nor do the French and the Norwegians. Feminist legislators from those European superpowers — and Norway — want all digitally-altered images to be labeled to avoid giving girls the wrong impression.

It was exactly this impression that the American Medical Association wanted to protect when it passed a policy in June to “discourage the altering of photographs in a manner that could promote unrealistic expectations of appropriate body image.” But was this enough? Would that stomp the scourge of rampant Photoshop mutilation?

Enter the dashing Dr. Hany Faid, riding up on his microscope of justice, his pristine lab coat effortlessly billowing in the wind. Along with PhD student Erica Kee, Faid enlisted hundreds of people to compare before and after photos (see below) and then determine the level of digital alteration on a scale from 1-5. They then used this research to train the software to mimic human perception.

Faid hopes this tool will be used to regulate and reduce retouching. He suggests, “Models, for example, might well say, ‘I don’t want to be a 5. I want to be a 1.’” Perhaps this new breakthrough will prevent anymore unfortunate airbrush mishaps and won’t result in the complete devastation of the women’s magazine industry. [NYT]

Since you’re in Miami, grab some beach accessories from the 2012 Artist Towel Series, designed by Barbara Kruger and Rirkrit Tiravanija.

Inspiration: Adir was inspired to create an up-do that felt like Kristen’s usual tousled, messy hair style with a touch of rockabilly class. The outcome was equally edgy and romantic.

How To Get the Look: Adir began by applying Fekkai Bouffant Lifting and Texturizing Spray Gel to the roots of the hair to build texture. He then applied Fekkai Oceanique Tousled Wave Spray throughout the rest of the hair and rough dried it to create a beachy base for the up-do. Adir then took random pieces and created standard braids, fishtail braids and twists throughout the hair in various sizes, leaving the very top of the hair loose. He then took all of the hair, except the loose bit, and knotted and twisted it to create an up-do. Hairpins gave the illusion of a very undone look. To finalize, Adir backcombed the front of the hair to add volume, pushed it back and pinned it in place. He secured the look by spraying with Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray.

After a series of complaints from a bunch of teetotaling busybodies, the ASA responded with this bit of lameness: “We noted that the model was holding up the perfume bottle which rested in her lap between her legs and we considered that its position was sexually provocative. Elle Fanning in D&G Spring 2011 – I want to adopt Elle as my own first born child -  she is so adorable. I love this floral romper with the floral wedges. Where else and on who can an overload of prints work this well?

Leighton Meester in Balmain Fall 2011 – Although she makes a lot of mistakes and does poorly in style school sometimes, I still stand by Leighton. She looks perfect in this bling-encrusted Balmain dress. I’m glad to see her at the top of the list for once.

Emma Stone in Bottega Veneta Fall 2011 – Congratulations Emma for finally making my best dressed list! She looks phenomenal with her red-again hair in this golden, lacy frock. The orange accessories are PERFECT.

Hailee Steinfeld in Louis Vuitton – Many think Hailee looks too old in this sequin-adorned Louis Vuitton suit, but I think she looks youthful and chic. Unfortunately, I hate the shirt she is wearing underneath and wish she would have chosen something brighter and not so stiff.

Lil Mama in Sherri Hill Fall 2011 – This little lady sometimes tries too hard and ends up looking completely ridiculous on the red carpet. But Lil Mama got it right this time in a perfectly-fitting strapless mini dress. She is put-together and sexy without looking ridiculous.

Emma Watson in Marchesa - I thought this look was a little safe for Emma, but it grew on me as I looked through all the red carpet photos from last night. It’s difficult to pull-off a stark white dress and even more so if it’s this short. This is a great feminine look with the added edge of the Brian Atwood pumps.

On to the MOST BORING looks of the night. The Cs of the red carpet, these ladies could have tried a lot harder.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2011 -  I usually LOVE animal print, so I’m surprised I’m not phased by this. But a short animal print dress with the half-up, half-down hair? Ehhh I need something more from a gorgeous gal like Rosie. It would have made a huge difference if the dress was left longer like it was shown on the runway.

Blake Lively in Michael Kors - If Blake was going to a sophisticated fashion event, this would be an A++. But for an MTV awards show? Where is the insane Chanel Couture that could be blowing all these tartlets out of the water? If you have the access, use it!

Reese Witherspoon in Zac Posen Pre-Fall 2011 – Snore. Snoring at the hair, the dress, the shoes. Snoring at you Reese Witherspoon, who has been doing so well and just had to go and disappoint when you were receiving the post “prestigious” MTV Movie Award possible.

Selena Gomez in Giambattista Valli Spring 2011 – Talk about looking too old. Fit for a grandmother, this ensemble is just too tedious for MTV. Selena wowed us at the Billboards and must be tired because she is not at work.

Here we are ladies and gentlemen, the WORST DRESSED of the MTV Movie Awards. These ladies receive Ds and Fs for their detestable fashion sense.

Jessica Szohr in Alice + Olivia Fall 2011 – AHHHH!! This is a paisley nightmare! Hide your kids, hide your wife because this is the scariest clown I’ve ever seen. Perfect example of how an awesome runway piece looks like shit in real life. Look at Jessica’s face, she’s as horrified as we are.

Kristen Stewart in Balmain - Someone finally managed to look like a hooker in Balmain. Kristen Stewart continues to neglect her fashion studies in this too short, terribly styled studded and safety pinned number. The hair is bad, the shoes are wrong and she is not working this dress the way it needs to be worked.

Mila Kunis in Balmain Fall 2011 – Poor Balmain, so much drama as of late. I am obsessed with this skirt, but what in god’s name was Mila wearing on top? It looks like she was half changed into her pajamas, someone rang the doorbell and she had to walk outside like this. Justin’s hands would be a more fashionable choice.

Amanda Bynes in Hervé Léger – Congratulations Amanda for winning the WORST DRESSED award by a landslide. Not only does this dress make her look saggy all around, but she chose the ugliest shoes Christian Louboutin has ever designed. Tan, turquoise, black, white – it’s a rainbow of disaster on the red carpet.

The never-ending vampire chick flick series also took home Best Movie, Best Female Performance for Kristen Stewart‘s harrowing (?) portrayal of…whoever she plays; Best Male Performance for Robert Pattinson basically showing up on set and taking his shirt off; and Best Fight for the Team Jacob v Team Edward bitch-slapping throwdown outside of the movie’s L.A. premiere.

Other big “winners” of the  night included Emma Stone who won Best Comedic Performance for her tour de force in Easy A and Justin Bieber for Best Jaw-Dropping Moment thanks to a lap dance in his seminal concert film, Never Say Never.

Meanwhile, Ellen Page‘s Oscar nomination for Juno clearly pales in comparison with the honor of the Best Scared as Shit award she took home for Inception. And last but certainly not least, dyed-in-the-wool movie star Reese Witherspoon took home the Generation Award in recognition of her “remarkable career.” Then they showed a bunch of clips from Legally Blonde. Alicia Silverstone is the best prepster out there, and no matter how old we are or how many fashion trends pass by Clueless will always remain a fashion favorite… through knee-high socks, more than enough argyle to handle, feminine school girl blazzers and especially because Britney Murphy was in it too!

Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion (1997)- A little on the dumb-ass side and I’m pretty sure no one would wear as much metallic and glitter as these two on screen best friends, but it’s still fun to watch their adventure in going back to their high school reunion and dominating the Madonna-inspired blasts from the pasts.

Spice World (1997)- Victoria Beckham‘s style may be taking over the style headlines a lot more than the Spice Girls do now, but it doesn’t mean that we would ever forget baby spice, scary spice, ginger spice, posh spice, sporty spice, or any other spices that I’m forgetting in between!

Jawbreaker (1999)- Catty and backstabbing what other way would a girl like their movies, when you accidentally kill your best friend in your favorite pumps?

The Virgin Suicides (1999)- When it comes to Kristen Dunst’s careless ways she makes any film look awesome! Sofia Coppola (director) filmed the movie in an angelic sort of sunlight state, and with the simplicity of the style on the girls, from sundresses to school outfits, the obsession of five boys falling in love with mysterious sisters begins, and they watch them on the road to suicide.

Factory Girl (2006)- Starring Sienna Miller as Edie Sedgwick a muse of all muses for the New York City life style of Andy Warhol. Not to mention, Mary-Kate Olsen gets her five minutes of fame getting to rock the furs and the smoking glam of this crazy 1960′s fashion filled film.

500 Days of Summer (2009)- Zooey Deschanel would be the perfect heart breaking type girl, with her vintage dresses and humorous ways as she completes every girls dream to crush the boy who’s insanely in love with her in nonchalant ways.

Whip It (2009)- Ellen Page plays a rebellious small town girl who creates a wicked life for herself in Austin, TX. And along with Drew Barrymoore and Landon Pigg she rocks her indie-child style with combat boots, random skirts, and bizarre rock band tees!

The Runaways (2010)- When hearing the names Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart you don’t normally think of one on one girl make out sessions or drug addict… which in their case would be a good thing but luckily these two actresses rocked the hell out of bringing the Joan Jett and Cherie Curie’s wild child style to life!

Black Swan (2010)- Obviously what kind of timeline would this be without listing Natalie Portman’s surprise act of dealing with perfection and giving us a mental image of just how good Rodarte ballet wear could be!

She’s pretty, I’ll admit that, but I’m distracted by her vacant stare, uncomfortable posing and the overall uninteresting composition of the image.

I mean, this hasn’t even taken on first stage hotness for me.

I didn’t even think Kristen Stewart appealed to guys; here I thought they all wanted the Megan Foxes and Jessica Albas and other so-called actresses with that va-va-voom (read: slut) factor.

Well, at least Egotastic! and I can agree on one point regarding Ms. Stewart:

“She’s got the bird flipping angry cigarette smoking teen girl angst thing going on, and, let’s be real, that’s annoying.”

Robert Pattinson has let us in on quite the secret. Apparently the actor wanted to be a famous rapper when he was younger. Robert shared a bit of embarrassing info about a wide collection of tapes he has with his own rap songs:

“You want a secret? OK, how about this – I’ve got a whole collection of tapes of me rapping from when I was 13! I wanted to be a rapper so there are hundreds and hundreds of tapes. They’re very amusing! I was obsessed with Eminem when I was younger. When he first came out I was about 12 and fanatical about his Slim Shady CD. I think he’s a genius. Most of my rhymes were stolen off other people anyway. They were all like, ‘I was raised on these streets…,’ which was a complete farce because I was actually raised in quite a nice area of London called Barnes. Not very ghetto at all! I was obsessed with it all, though. I even had my own little crew – we called ourselves Big Tub and the Tappy Cats.”

Christina Ricci, in the latest celebrity news, says that Robert Pattinson is a great kisser. Ricci worked with the British actor on the upcoming film Bel Ami, and proclaimed him “amazing.”

Not only was the romance action fun, however, but the fashion style was great too, according to Ricci. “We wore amazing costumes and hair and make-up was great,” she told E!Online. In reference to Pattinson’s lip action, Ricci said, “He is pretty much awesome.”

Pattinson is widely believed to be dating Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart, and Ricci confirmed that the two met up with her during the shooting of Bel Ami in Budapest.

With the heat wave this summer reaching an all time high, many celebs are walking into salons asking for shorter cuts. With the hair off their backs it’s suddenly more manageable and easier to take a stroll down the street in the hot summer sun. Kristen Stewart, Rihanna, Janet Jackson, and Hayden Panettiere, are some of the most noted individuals to receive a shorter cut. From edgy colors to softer side bangs, these celebs all took a pretty bold plunge. To learn more about the short hair phenomenon I talked a bit with Latrice Strader, stylist and owner of Destiny De’ve hair salon and spa. Latrice, known for delivering vibrant colors and the latest styles, weighed in on summer’s newest trend:

Some girls avoid cutting their hair too short because they feel they aren’t edgy enough to pull it off. Do you think most girls can pull off a short hair do?

I believe there is a short style for every shaped face. Some face shapes allow you to go shorter than others. When considering a short cut you should consider the shape of your face, head, your hair texture and personality.

Out of Kristen, Rhianna, Hayden, and Janet, whose summer hairstyle do you like the best?

Kristen is my favorite.  I love fun styles and her haircut is very choppy and playful.  It is also the most flexible cut.

What’s the most popular hairstyle you’ve seen this season?

Layered bobs are frequently requested in my salon in addition to shaved sides similar to Rhianna’s latest style.  Long loose wave styles similar to what Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Kardashian wear are also very popular.

Have a lot of girls walked into your salon, Destiny De’ve, asking for a shorter hair cut for the summer?

We get tons of requests for shorter hair cuts in the summer months as well as throughout the year. My salons, Destiny De’Ve, is located close to a popular college and surrounded by young urban and trendy individuals. Most requests are for short pixie cuts, shave sides, generally fun and creative looks.  Most of our clients are inspired by celebrities when it comes to short hair styles like Rhianna, Victoria Beckham, Halle Berry and Kelis.  These are the top four celebrity style requests I receive year round.

What do you think is the biggest “hair don’t”, a style that most people are better off without?

A huge “hair don’t” in my book is greasy hair.  Hair should have body and movement. Too much oil weighs the hair down causing it to stick to your face. Hair lack luster serums and gloss should be used to avoid this problem.  When hair is oily and greasy, it’s time to shampoo and re-style your hair.

Robert Pattinson recently went on Ellen and revealed that he had to shave his head cause of a severe case of head lice.  Our guess is he caught it from hanging out in Kristen Stewart’s vadgina or he’s just a dirty boy who doesn’t shower.

The usual low key, “Twilight Saga” movie star Kristen Stewart was spotted looking sexy in one of her photos (above) for her recent photo shoot with the prestigious “Elle” magazine. Kristen is wearing a very tight,short,and sexy black ensemble,along with showing a very seductive look. She actually looks really hot in this photo!

Kristen Stewart is most famous for her role as Bella Swan in the popular “Twilight Saga” movies. She recently appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show with her “Twilight Saga” co-stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. She revealed a lot about herself on the show. She talked about why she comes off so shy in interviews, and how she really does care about how the “Twilight” movies turn out, despite contrary opinions.

She also had a lot of fun on the show,joking around with her co-stars. She will be seen reprising her Bella Swan role in the upcoming “Twilight Saga: Eclipse” movie,which hits theaters on June 30.

1. Start with using a volumizer on damp hair’s roots. (Try Gatsby Salon’s Texture Lift, $12.50 available by calling 732.752.4247)

2. Blowdry hair using your fingers to create volume and texture within your hair.

3. Once hair is completely dry, tease hair from temple to temple, beginning along the hairline.

4. Smooth out slightly with fingers to give it an “unpolished look”.

5. Use your fingers to direction hair towards the back of your head.

6. Apply a flexible hold spray to keep teased hair in place as you create the back of the look.

7. Begin gathering hair at the nape of your neck in a loose, messy bun-type shape.

8. Use bobby pins to secure hair in place. TIP: Create an X by criss-crossing bobby pins to create a more secure style.

9. Use a medium to strong hold hairspray to ensure this look lasts throughout the evening.
