Marion Cotillard Stars in “L.A.dy Dior” by John Cameron Mitchell
Edited by Lester Brathwaite
Dior turned to director and purveyor of the angry inch John Cameron Mitchell to inject the staid fashion film formula with some much-needed schtick for its latest short, L.A.dy Dior. Marion Cotillard does what she does best — cry and act hysterical, but this time sans the gravitas — as a tortured actress named Margaux on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

These Marion Cotillard advertisements for Lady Dior (above – old, I know!) are here to stay but models and traditional advertising are gone. Fall 2009′s seasonal ads have been replaced with “star power” that is supposed to “give more meaning” and will more successfully “represent the values of a company”. That’s Dior CEO Sidney Toledano speaking, and I’m not trying to pick a fight, but Dior ads featuring models will certainly be missed.
