Other big ticket items included a role in a short film directed by Karl Lagerfeld and produced by Harvey Weinstein, which went for €850,000 ($1,069,000); a private photo shoot with legendary lensman Peter Lindbergh was auctioned off for €90,000 ($113,000); and a signed print of Andy Warhol‘s Marilyn 29, 1967 sold for €600,000 ($754,000). Kloss takes a dip with swimmer – and cover boy – Ryan Lochte, has hoop dreams with Dwayne Wade, gets hurdled by decathlete Ashton Eaton, monkeys around with pint-sized gymnast Jonathan Horton and  juggles some balls with tennis players Bob and Mike Bryan.

Fashion editor Tonne Goodman outfits the model and admitted sports nut  (“you name it, I’ve played it!”) in looks by Victoria Beckham, Atelier Versace, Stella McCartney, Vera Wang, Lanvin, Oscar de la Renta, Haider Ackermann, Bottega Veneta and Alexander McQueen because this is Vogue after all — where tracksuits and cleats are never sensible.

The foundation will help support young art and fashion talent, a cause Blow, who took her own life in 2007, would no doubt celebrate. The late editor and muse is largely credited for discovering fellow iconoclast and suicide victim Alexander McQueen.

But onto the bright side of things. Guinness raided her closet and chose key pieces which best defined her distinctive style, featuring the likes of Chanel, Balenciaga, Lanvin, Prada, Christian Lacroix, Alaïa, Gareth Pugh, Christopher Kane and of course McQueen. The auction will take place on June 27 with a goal of earning £100,000 (about $160,000), but before then Christie’s will put the couture on public display on June 23.

"This design was first viewed by Daphne in Alexander McQueen’s collection in 2008. After seeing it, Daphne asked Lee to create four dresses in this style, in different materials (one black, one black long sleeved, one feathered, and one silver). A favourite dress of Daphne’s, she has worn it to several high profile occasions and has been photographed with the likes of Mario Testino and David Furnish whilst wearing it." "This was the first piece of couture Daphne bought from Christian Lacroix. Having led to her meeting Lacroix’s muse, Marie Martinez, with whom she has since become great friends, it holds important memories for Daphne. Representing Lacroix’s Southern routes it is an iconic piece; the cow hide was typical of him, and the puff ball skirt is a very Spanish look which he often revisited." "Ordered from Noritaka directly, these shoes took around eight months to be made. Daphne loved them, not so much for their practicality, or lack thereof, but because she viewed them as pieces of sculpture, more as concept pieces for looking at – fashion as art." Noritaka Tatehana, autumn/winter 2010-11 - estimate: £1,500 - £2,500 (about $2,400 - $4,000)

Illustrating this theme, the mag profiles three particular individuals at different stages of their career: “the Breakout” Joseph Altuzarra, “the Artiste” Georgina Chapman of Marchesa and “the Dreamer” Alber Elbaz.

Elbaz, known for being the most adorable of high fashion designers, is surprisingly candid in his interview and reveals there are claws behind that bowtie. To wit, my favorite quote: “I always say I cannot work with bitches; they block my creativity.” And I don’t think he’s talking about the dog variety.

Elbaz even discusses being looked over for the creative director position at Yves Saint Laurent, despite being handpicked by the late designer himself, for Tom Ford: “As I say to people, I was never just Alber from Saint Laurent, and I an not Alber from Lanvin.  I am Alber, period.  That’s why I might have been hurt, but I was not dead.  It didn’t kill me.”

The issue also features an interview with Giorgio Armani who reveals his dashed hopes of being Paul Newman, as well as a conversation with Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld on Chanel‘s upcoming Little Black Jacket book that is predictably amazing:

CR: “The first Chanel jacket that I saw – that I knew was Chanel – was on TV.  It was on Mrs. Kennedy – the pink one.”
KL:  “In 1963.  It was a fake, a line-by-line copy by Cassini.  She did have real Chanels, [but] her sister ordered them.  We have all the proof.”

Dagens Industri, a Swedish financial rag, first  reported the story, claiming that H&M will offer a luxury brand more expensive than its high-end COS — Collection of Style — chain and helmed by Swedish designer Behnaz Aram.

A spokeswoman for H&M would neither confirm or deny the report, but stated, “We are constantly looking at new ideas; it’s a natural part of our work. However, there is nothing new that we can [talk] about for the moment.”

Which I think we all know means “yeah it’s happening, but keep it under your toup.”

The Spirithood is a super special faux fur animal hood that comes down like a scarf to form paws (aka pockets) at the bottom. They come in all rad animals, even a new skunk. This one is the red fox.

Pop a color up in this bitch. A teal cossack will have heads turning, even though it's faux.

This hat takes an unusual form. Slightly cocked, it seems like it's from another time. The fur is thin and it sits tall.

Good gracious, this furband is spectacular! MK and A (AKA two fab PR ladies) personally sent two over to FashionIndie as holiday presents to our lovely Sam Lim and Lester Brathwaite (think, minutes of gasping and gorj!ing). Alls I'm saying is, it's divine. Merry, indeed.

Oh, this Canadian (yet British) fox headband looks sumptuous. Wear it alone with just your hair to hit the sky, or tie up a headscarf, and let the colors peek through the top.

This fox is marbleized with its light and dark features. It almost looks cheetah, but with the plush quality of fox (and the less endangered, more farm-raised nature).

Okay, it kind of looks like Missoni, but in all fairness I couldn't find a Missoni trapper - I don't think they make it. I'm just digging those stripes over some blond rabbit fur.

Though it's named the neck-warmer, we think this rabbit was meant to keep your ears and forehead snuggly, too.

Shearling gives kick of kink. In hat form, it's like a white 'fro. So as to say, stunnsies.

Think summertime marigolds in the bright sunlight. That's how warm this brilliant fox trapper will keep you.

FashionIndie: What are your best tips for holiday dressing?
Lisa George: Keep your outfit simple, and invest in a few key accessories you can work in throughout the season. We designed our scarves to be worn with everything from parkas to dresses – they are grab-and-go pieces. Fur framing the face can look soft and feminine or edgy depending on how it’s styled.

FI: Which cold weather staple accessories are your favorites?
Charlotte Beecham: Scarves and ponchos. It is very difficult to look stylish and warm simultaneously, so anything chunky you can layer or throw over multiple outfits is a godsend come winter. The extra layer keeps you warm when walking through the street but is great thrown over a dress or a bare shoulder indoors.

FI: What are the best materials to pair fur with?
LG: I love layering fur with outerwear. I often wear a black fur vest over a leather jacket, a beige one over a trench coat and my new favorite combo is a white silk blazer with our C&L grey fur hood scarf. The hood is unexpected, especially when worn indoors.
CB: Fur is such a versatile material and looks great with denim and chunky knits. It’s very easy to dress up or down, and pairing it with jeans or an oversized sweater gives it a youthful look.

FI: What’s on your holiday wish list?
CB & LG: An iPad and a boyfriend…

12. The rise and subsequent fall of the fascinator Trends come and go all the time in fashion, but rarely has one particular trend impacted culture so hard and been discarded so fast. The Royal Wedding inspired ladies everywhere to make it a say-something hat day, but it was Princess Beatrice's fascinator that may go down as one of the most infamous pieces of millinery in modern recollection.

11. Marc Jacobs stolen spring 2012 collection Lifted from a train en route from Paris, the theft of parts of Marc Jacobs' spring 2012 collection was this year's biggest and most intriguing mystery. Besides, of course, whether Marc himself would defect to Christian Dior or stick it out with Louis Vuitton -- who, coincidentally, was also a victim of theft just two weeks later. Yep, big coincidence.

9. Kate Moss' fairytale wedding It was only a few years ago that Kate Moss was spiraling down a cocaine-encrusted rabbit hole, but fashion's favorite bad girl has finally settled down. Moss wed longtime beau Jamie Hince in an epic three-day long ceremony known cheekily as Mosstock. BFF Naomi Campbell was one of her bridesmaids, and in a show of solidarity, Moss chose a wedding dress by John Galliano. Kate Moss' wedding was not only front-page news, it garnered the most coveted cover of the year: Vogue's September issue.

8. Bill Cunningham New York Originating and perfecting the art of streetstyle photography decades before The Sartorialist picked up a camera, Bill Cunningham finally got his time in the spotlight thanks to a heartwarming documentary that reveled a little of the man behind that ubiquitous lens.

7. Kanye West shows at Paris Fashion Week Kanye West is a man of many talents, though fashion design may or may not be one of them. A true lover of fashion, West did his research and worked with the best people but in the end he let his usual over-zealousness get the best of him and the result? When prompted for her opinion on West's collection, Anna Wintour responded: "Ask someone else."

6. Missoni for Target Missoni for Target took the high-low collaboration craze to a fever pitch, crashing Target's website and selling out shortly after hitting the shelves. That is, before those items appeared on eBay for several times what they had originally cost, thus negating the entire process.

The rise of Lea T. and Andrej Pejic Transsexual lady Lea T. met Oprah and androgynous male model Andrej Pejic met the Queen of England this year. If that weren't enough of a moment, these two gals also shattered boundaries in fashion and modeling, and in the process became icons and role models to the LGBTQ community.

4. The reinvention of Carine Roitfeld Quele scandale! Did she get fired? Did she quit? Are she and Emmanuelle Alt no longer friends? The rumors have been buzzing around Carine Roitfeld since she officially exiting Vogue Paris in February -- and in the process creating a future supermodel in Saskia de Brauw --  after 10 landmark, nipple-bearing years. But through it all, Carine has been the picture of calm and chic, hiking up her pencil skirt and reinventing herself as a brilliant and in-demand stylist/the coolest bitch on the planet. Stay tuned for another reinvention when Carine launches a new magazine and starts life as a grandmother next year.

3. Kate Middleton's Alexander McQueen wedding dress The speculation was unbearable for what was the biggest and most well-kept secret in an age of superfluous information. Though an unsurprising but nevertheless brilliant choice, Sarah Burton's handiwork cemented the Duchess of Cambridge (née Kate Middleton) as not only a bona fide style icon but a phenomenon on both sides of the Atlantic. Meanwhile, Burton proved she was the right person to carry on McQueen's brilliant legacy and take it to the next level.

2. Alexander McQueen's Savage Beauty The most successful fashion exhibit in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's  history, Alexander McQueen's Savage Beauty set records and inspired fashion lovers and neophytes alike. The exhibit proved so popular, in fact, the Met extended its run twice. Even then, there were still lines of people waiting hours to get into the museum, but for 661,509 people it was well-worth the wait.

1. John Galliano stars in Gallianogate John Galliano's downfall has loomed large all year, particularly since Christian Dior has yet to announce his replacement, despite a neverending back-and-forth with a stubborn Marc Jacobs. Following a stint in rehab, a guilty conviction in Paris for making anti-Semitic remarks, and the general destruction of his reputation, Galliano at least had one bright spot this year: designing good friend Kate Moss' wedding dress. Galliano's dismissal also raised questions about the stress designers are under to deliver  multiple collections a year -- just ask Balmain's Christophe Decarnin. Everyone's still waiting to see who Dior picks to take the throne and if Galliano can make a comeback after such a devastating fall. As 2011 comes to a close, 2012 has the promise of even more scandals, breakdowns and breakthroughs that we cannot wait to cover obsessively for you. A. I have to say Lanvin – Alber’s clothes are comfortable, elegant and the fabrics travel extremely well.

A. I don’t have a favorite destination, but I am always looking forward to the next trip.

Elbaz himself sits atop the tree, or rather an adorable facsimile. “The tree is to emanate and bring heartwarming joy to all who work and stay as guests at Claridge’s hotel,” the designer said. “It’s my way to wish them a very Merry Christmas.” This is Alber’s first time tackling tree trimming duty for the famous hotel —  John Galliano handled it for the past two years, but perhaps an alleged anti-Semite designing their Christmas tree wasn’t the right message Claridge’s wanted to send.

Then there is Givenchy‘s Riccardo Tisci, whose name has been bandied about since Gallianogate got into full swing. But he — along with Lanvin‘s Alber Elbaz, Alexander McQueen‘s Sarah Burton and Balenciaga‘s Nicolas Ghesquière – has turned down the Dior deal, citing brand loyalty.

So the question still remains — and frankly, the question is getting really tiresome — who will take the reins at Christian Dior? However, by the time someone is announced, the question might be, who the hell cares? [WWD]

With a big focus on tailoring for Spring 2012, Riccardo Tisci designed one of the most wearable Givenchy collections to date. The makeup was very on par with this idea as nude eyes and a lightly glossed lip let the models' true beauty shine through. Tiny, shiny, heart-ish shaped bits placed directly beneath the lower lash lines reflected Tisci's mermaid inspiration for the line.

It was ring around the rosy at John Galliano with eyes smudged in a reddish-pink shadow and nude lips blushed ever so slightly. Whimsical, if not slightly freakish, the face matched the clothing designed by former pattern maker for the house Bill Gaytten. Mary Poppins would oblige.

The nude lip trend continued in Paris with Pat McGrath's fresh dewey face for Lanvin. The makeup artist is "feeling really pared-down makeup for Spring," a look designer Alber Elbaz was completely on board with for the show. Clean skin and a smokey brown eye rounded out the look, creating day-to-night beauty that's absolutely flawless.

Ah-ha! And a bold lip steps forward. Makeup artist Pat McGrath mixed three hues to create this perfectly matte, pinkish crimson pout, reminiscent of the late great Grace Kelly. Flawless skin with a rosy cheek was the backdrop for the look, and a pretty bronzed eye complemented without taking away or overpowering a simply beautiful face.

Dior has been without a creative director since that little incident with John Galliano — you know, the anti-Semitism and the firing and the rehab and the court case — since March.

Arnault, chairman of LVMH — which also owns Marc Jacobs International — had initially planned on hiring Jacobs for Dior back in the 90s, but that idea was vetoed by Dior’s then president Francois Baufume. Instead, Galliano was hired from Givenchy to Dior and Jacobs signed on as Vuitton’s artistic director in 1997.

“Had I hired Marc Jacobs for Dior and John Galliano for Louis Vuitton, it would not have worked as well for both brands, even though both designers are geniuses of their own,” Arnault told WWD in 2003.

Meetings are scheduled for this week in Paris between Dior and Marc Jacobs’ legal representatives while the designer prepares for New York Fashion Week. Robert Duffy, Jacobs’ longtime business partner, is also reported to be integral to the deal, despite currently having legal troubles of his own.

Should Jacobs move to Dior, Phoebe Philo is said to be on tap to replace him at Louis Vuitton, while maintaining her current role at Céline.

Since March, Dior has approached a number of designers to replace Galliano including Lanvin‘s Alber Elbaz, Balenciaga‘s Nicolas Ghesquière, Alexander McQueen‘s Sarah Burton, Haider Ackermann and Hedi Slimane. Elbaz, Ghesquière and Burton have allegedly withdrawn themselves from the running due to their strong personal commitments to their respective brands, while talks with Ackermann and Slimane proved fruitless.

Then, of course, there is Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci whose name has been bandied about as frontrunner for months now and who is a favorite of Delphine Arnault, deputy managing director at Dior. Where Tisci stands in all this is uncertain, but do you think Marc Jacobs is what Christian Dior needs right now? [WWD]
