Bravo Ready for a Laura Bennett Show

Bravo Ready for a Laura Bennett Show

So the rumor from the blogette’s at Fashionista.com is that Laura Bennett is set to get her own show. Seems like “cheating” Sebula is the only one who’s been left in the dark as Laura quickly grabs more and more of the spotlight. The show will focus on Laura’s life as a designer, architect, journalist for the Daily Beast, and mother of her brood of six kids. Seems really, um, boring. Seriously, is Jeffery dead?

Whatever Happened To Jeffrey Sebelia?

Edited by

Whatever Happened To Jeffrey Sebelia? If the name doesn’t ring a bell, the face certainly does! Jeffrey Sebelia, the LA based punky designer, took home the coveted winning title during Project Runway Season 3. As many will recall, Sebelia was almost disqualified during the finale for cheating allegations, stirred by enemy finalist Laura Bennett. But despite all adversity, Sebelia punked his way to the top.

After browsing through some old photos (yes, I was Jeffrey Sebelia for Halloween a few years ago), I decided to do a little investigation and see what the designer is up to as of late…to be honest, I was a bit disappointed. It seems as if his original line, Cosa Nostra, which is reminiscent of the rocker designs seen on Project Runway, has digressed into the minimalist, lower price point, Good Vig. Although Good Vig was only for the 2008 holiday season, even his original aesthetic is taking a turn for the worse; Cosa Nostra seems to be failing, nearly every piece marked down.

Just as Project Runway isn’t like it used to be, designers aren’t like they used to be either. Sebelia’s Cosa Nostra pieces are nice, but certainly not like his Project Runway work. I know times are tough, but whatever happened to picking yourself up by the bootstraps? Whatever happened to maintaining a unique style? Whatever happened to that winner’s attitude? Whatever happened to you, Jeffrey Sebelia?
