That gorgeous fall chill is in the city air today, and we are more than thrilled to take our leather jackets out of hibernation. Our friends at Tibi must feel the same, as designer Amy Smilovic chose leather as the theme for her “Tibi Picks of the Week.” From an orange pencil skirt to a simple black collar, these seven items are too chic to pass up.

Elie Tahari Men’s Spring 2012 Brings Refined Luxury

This past Tuesday, Editor In Chief, Samantha Lim & I got the chance to attend the Men’s Elie Tahari Spring 2012 presentation here in NYC .

The collection in its entirety was absolutely stunning. This collection was based on English artist, David Hockney‘s paintings of 1960′s Los Angeles. Both are clean, bright, and chic.

The color palette is simple which allows the garments to stand out for themselves. Italian linens, soft calf leathers, patchwork detailing, cotton piping and graphic stripes all add a level of sophistication to the pieces.

The stand out piece for me definitely had to be the leather shorts. They are very reminiscent of Philip Lim’s Spring 2010 collection which is saying a lot.

I can see this collection in many men’s closets. It is super wearable while maintaining a high fashion identity.

I have never been a fan of boob patches, but Keri Hilson looked stunning at her album release party in New York City last night. It takes a girl like Hilson, who is both cute and undeniably sexy, to pull this high-fashion look off outside of a runway show. Love the leather, love the boobs, I think she looks amazing.

Kanye’s Non-Daddy Leather Shorts

We’re all aware of Kanye‘s prolific tweeting by now, from pictures of his garish couches that cost more than most people’s cumulative lifetime salaries to some of his more outlandish outfits. So it’s no surprise that Kanye posted the above picture. The question is: how about them leather shorts?

It’s been pointed out that many women have done the leather shorts thing and done it well. It’s also been pondered whether those $550 Philip Lim 3.1 lambskin shorts work on Yeezy. Perhaps leather should be left to the leather daddies.

I haven’t seen too many pairs of leather shorts for men, but right when I give up hope Chronicles of Never blesses the fashion world with some of the coolest ones I’ve seen! Similar to boxing shorts, these leather shorts have a lace-up fly, raw edges and welt pockets in front. The shorts don’t come with the leggings (pictured above) but Oak’s awesome styling and layering is easily achieved with a simple pair of leggings! Go get ‘em boys!
