Not only is this a totally awesome collection, but it’s for a good cause too! Ken & Dana Design, a NYC based jewelry designing duo have teamed up with local Gun BuyBack Programs, to take these instrument that represent violence and reframe them as symbols of non-violence.

Sourcing from gun manufacturers, Ken & Dana transform gun parts such as triggers, lugs, hammer & trigger pins and Colt firing pin cones into uniquely designed jewelry.  Each piece, hand-made in their NYC studio, takes about 1-week for production and are all individually numbered to track the amount of pieces sold. Proceeds from every piece sold in this collection are donated to a NYC buyback program.

Through this program, the D.A.’s office and the NYPD partner with local churches to offer $200 bank cards for any firearm turned in at one of their one day events. Since 2008, 5700 guns have been taken off New York’s streets.

Looks like the designers who were taken for a ride by Gen Art are retail-iating. Lewis Cho, H. Fredrikkson and jewelry designers ken & dana have come together to host Plan B, a shopping night offering up to 60% off on Thursday, May 27th. According to the designers, Gen Art still hasn’t refunded them their money for the canceled event.

Ken Leung of ken & dana told Racked.com that “Gen Art members who recently renewed their membership are also out of their membership fees. Some members pay as much as $500 a year.” Wow, can someone say “class action lawsuit”?

Plan B has the mission of keeping the indie designer spirit alive by fostering a creative and unique community of designers. So support the cause and grab a few discounts (plus a DJ and open bar) and stop by Plan B on Thursday between 5pm and 10pm.
