- At the McQueen press preview this morning, Stella McCartney and Sarah Burton shared their thoughts while Philip Treacy got a little misty-eyed over the Andrew Bolton-curated Alexander McQueen:Savage Beauty. Instead of a chronological trek through McQueenland, Bolton organized the exhibit into six themes: The Romantic Mind, Romantic Gothic, Romantic Nationalism, Romantic Exoticism, Romantic Primitivism, and Romantic Naturalism. Celebrities and Fashion have always been synonymous. However, today more than ever, fashion magazines are featuring more celebrities than immigrants trying to get into the USA for their Green Card. In many cases these highly regarded magazines are using celebrities more often than Super Models for their covers. There are many reasons for this and in my opinion some of those decisions have more to do with the Politics of Fashion than the notoriety of the Celebrity.

- It wouldn’t be a Calvin Klein billboard without a little controversy, right? Well, this time the controversy is so little it requires further description and multiple views. Someone, somewhere, is outraged over the Calvin Klein billboard ad in SoHo because the table legs spell out an “F”, Lara Stone‘s briefs spell out a “U” and who wants to give me a “CK”? Sounds like someone spends too much time staring at Lara Stone’s crotch. [Racked]

- The Wall Street Journal‘s profile on Vogue editrix Anna Wintour is enlightening. Not only does she explain the mag’s “backbone” (“I think we have a Vogue vocabulary, and there are certain people we like to have as the backbone of the magazine—Vogue‘s signposts.”) but there’s also this handy dandy graph identifying each and every vertebrae of that backbone.
