“I love lingerie because it dances between public and private domains,” designer Laura Mehlinger says. “It can be a woman’s own secret that makes her feel special, or something beautiful for display.” Born and raised in the garment business, Laura always had a passion for sewing and design. After graduating from Harvard and holding design positions at Gap, Inc, she was ready to start her own lingerie line that was both playful and sophisticated. Inspired by famous temptress Dolores “Lolita” Haze, Laura named her line Lola Haze, a character who continues to intrigue and have an impact on her work. A solo trip around the world has influenced her collections, with the great juxtaposition between innocence and seduction at the forefront. Following in her family’s footsteps, Laura is inspired by New York City where Lola Haze is entirely produced.

Journelle’s 2nd Emerging Lingerie Designers Trunk Show

Journelle, a high-end lingerie boutique, (located on 3 East 17^th Street, between Broadway and Fifth) is hosting their second Emerging Designers Trunk Show next Thursday from 7pm to 9pm and you’re invited! This time, they invited four of our favorite young designers, Dessous, the Lake and Stars, Lola Haze, and Damaris. These four designers represent four very different styles loved by four different types of girls.

They’ll also be serving sparkling vodka cocktails and some delicious hors d’oeuvres, the perfect complement to the stunning collections.
