From The Style Examiner:

London-based graphic designers Johnson Banks have worked with fashion photographer Sølve Sundsbø to produce a range of 10 stamps that portray 60 years of British fashion.

Live models (as opposed to static fashion mannequins) were used to embody the silhouettes of the various fashion eras and fit perfectly into the surviving existing garments. Following the shoot, the features of the models and background were erased from the images in order to focus the viewer’s gaze upon each of the British fashion designs.

The stamps feature the work produced by fashion designers in the 1940s (Hardy Amies), 1950s (Norman Hartnell), 1960s (from the boutique Granny Takes a Trip and designers Ossie Clark and Tommy Nutter), 1970s (Jean Muir), 1980s (Zandra Rhodes), 1990s (Vivienne Westwood) and the first decade of the twenty-first century (Alexander McQueen and Paul Smith).

Enjoy. And if any of our British readers obtain some of these beauties, send us a post card! See the original story at LOOKBOOKS.com.

Decked in delicately jeweled and lace garments, Crystal Renn (Ford Models) stars in Vogue Japan‘s editorial “Under the Twilight Sky” from the June 2012 issue. Shot by Camilla Akrans, Renn tells a tale of romance and intrigue in looks from designers like Dolce and Gabanna, Hakaan, Balmain and Yves Saint Laurent styled by fashion editor Sissy Vian. Scarlet red lips against a natural face accented with strong brows by MUA Sil Bruinsma (Streeters) along with a retro hairstyle, reminiscent of Betty Paige, by stylist Alain Pichon (Streeters) are the perfect touches to each mystifying look.

Since its 1988 New York inception, Women Management has worked with some of the most familiar faces in the fashion industry. The agency’s philosophy to embrace non-traditional beauty has launched the careers of supers like Kate Moss and Carmen Kass and given us the alluring versatility of women such as Lea T and Jourdan Dunn. And with representation in New York, Paris and Milan, it’s easy to see why Women is a dynamic force in the industry. I got a chance to talk with 5-year agent Ryan Molloy about why she loves the industry and what makes Women one of the best in the business.

How long have you been working as an agent? How did you get started in the industry?
I have been working at Women for the past five years. The opportunity presented itself when I was inbetween jobs, in search of a new career path. A good friend of mine was an agent at Women and invited me in to meet the team and discuss a possible opening. The core philosophies of the agency and its overall history really drove me to want to learn more about the biz. I did as much research as possible beforehand, and the rest is history. All went well, and I’ve been here ever since.

Women Management has one of the most impressive model client lists in the business, it must be dynamic to work with these girls. Do you have a favorite aspect of your job, something you love doing time and again?
It is a complete honor to be a part of the Women team and work with some of the most talented models and agents in industry. I must say, I am continuously inspired by my job and the chance to build a career that is successful and fulfilling. The possibilities are endless and the paths are all different. But with the right team and support, anything and everything is possible. We have such a strong core at Women, it makes the job that much more amazing.

Is there a specific campaign you worked on that particularly stands out in your mind as a favorite?
The Tom Ford campaign is memorable and confirmation that he is a legend and one of my favorite designers. Second to that has to be booking Daria Strokous in the film Contagion.

Can you talk about any exciting projects you have coming up with your clients at Women?
We are in the middle of campaign season, so I can’t reveal too much. You’ll just have to wait and see….

LOOKBOOKS.com contributor Catrin Davies explores an exhibition celebrating the European Vanitas art movement of the 15th and 16th century. See her musings here on FashionIndie.

With some people already writing the obituary for East London, what better way to deal with the death of creativity than with an event that plays on Dorian Gray levels of condemned vanity? The setting is a National Trust Tudor mansion in the unlikely heart of Homerton in East London, and the idea is based on the 15th and 16th century European Vanitas art movement – a self-obsession with beauty, death, decay and debauchery. Think skulls and butterflies, not a million miles away from what Damien Hirst is currently showing at Tate Modern.

A clutch of contemporary artists living and working in Hackney were invited by the innovative Horsebox Gallery, a mobile, pop-up gallery-on-wheels concept, to instigate a takeover of the Tudor property, originally built in 1531 for Sir Ralph Sadleir.

Some of the most evocative art works come from Sophia Schorr-Kon, whose still-life photographs of tumble weave, rotting flowers and pig-headed humans were staged in an East London squat, capturing the fine line between narcissism and partying too hard. Eat, drink, wear tumble weave, then die.

Throughout the house, original Tudor-era artworks are side-by-side with their contemporary counterparts. At the centre is a banquet table, arranged by set designer Alice Hodge, around which diners gorged themselves on a five-course banquet during the opening week of the event.

Nearby is the cast of Iluá Hauck da Silva’s minute torso, which she cast after prolonged wear of a restricting corset. The visible indents and scarring are testement to the destructiveness of vanity. But then again, there’s no excuse for an elasticated waist at a 16th century dinner party.

Vanitas runs at Sutton House, London until May 1st 2012. See the original post at LOOKBOOKS.com.

LOOKBOOKS contributor Stacy Cunningham interviews Essie Weingarten, creator of one of the world’s most famous nail polish brands. Learn all about her business below.

Which nail polish has been the only to grace the Queen of England’s royal fingers? Essie’s Ballet Slipper, of course. And she’s not the only royal wearing Essie; Kate Middleton wore the color Allure on her wedding day. Essie is a name recognized by women worldwide as the bottle in their favorite salons with the most beautiful array of colors. As nail art is trending hard this season, we got to speak with the woman behind the whole movement she started more than three decades ago, Essie Weingarten. She’s been addicted to manicures since age 12 and launched her obsession into a hugely successful business starting with just a dozen colors.

Why did you debut your first collection in Las Vegas?
It was 1981, and there were not many women with disposable incomes in the country. Between cocktail waitresses and dancing showgirls, I figured in Vegas I could get better bang for my buck than anywhere else in the United States. I left samples at every hotel. There were 12 colors, and I said ‘try it, if you like it call me.’ By the time I got home, I had a ton of calls. If you try it you get hooked, and it’s the best addiction around! It makes us feel like we’re wearing a whole new outfit. It was a great addiction in the 80’s.

We got calls from all around the country. It was really grass roots, one salon at a time. I had to use the yellow pages to find people. I believe I can mentor women today because if I could do it back then, anyone can do it! I’m the American Dream.

As a woman in business, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were huge obstacles everywhere I went. The bottle manufacturers made me pay everything up front, which is unusual. They said, ‘we had another woman come here that was really good looking, and she never paid.’

I had a nest egg I could exist on for one year. No one would give me a loan, so there was no finance from banks. There were plenty of salons that said ‘bye, don’t even leave samples.’ But persistence is very important, so I would always go back and try again. The word ‘no’ doesn’t exist to me. If you have a product you love and you know it is the best, the rest of the world will get hooked. Service and follow-through are extremely important.

My company had to move at least 2-million bottles for two years in a row before the manufacturer would consider making me a private mold. In 1999, we met the mark and the bottle got a facelift by getting the name in the glass. Before that, it was the label-less bottle with a white cap in salons. But the color speaks for itself in the bottle. It’s a connection with women, they fall in love with what they see.

LOOKBOOKS contributor Alex Hahn visits the Demolition Depot in Harlem to step back in time and discover centuries of architectural salvage. Check out his experience and interview with the owner below.

It’s a rare and wonderful thing to feel lost, overwhelmed and inspired. Losing oneself to a vast, sprawling inventory of fragmented history never felt as good as a trip to the Demolition Depot, an architectural salvage company, possibly the largest institution of it’s kind. With a history dating back 41 years and an inventory that proves both intimidating and inspiring, Demolition Depot demands your respect. No one can help but feel inspired by simply wandering around the three stories of stained glass, doors, windows, 18-foot-tall mirrors, furniture from all places and times, carved granite frescos, intricate paving stones made from marble, stone columns, old English telephone booths, door knobs, 8-foot-tall clock faces and mirrored wall panels from some of the most opulent homes imaginable (just to name a small fraction of inventory). All of this can make even the most well-adapted Manhattan apartment dweller long for space to design and meld all of this wonderful old with some new.

I had the chance to chat with Demolition Depot’s owner, Evan Blum about his business and some of the unique aspects of what he does.

Alex: How long have you been working on this? Is it a multigenerational family affair?
Evan: Nope, just me. Forty-one years.

What are your primary sources?
Deconstruction, buildings that have outlived their usefulness, renovation and when new design takes over an old building. Every day we have people stopping in to drop things off. Seven days a week we have a deconstruction team that travels all over the country collecting stuff for us. We even get some stuff from overseas.

Do you have any competition? Or rather what is your biggest source of competition?
There are others who do this but are not legitimate. It’s an easy crease in society to fall into and be able to get away with. Our biggest competitors are arrogance, stupidity and the dumpster.

What sets you apart from other places that do architectural salvage?
I come from a family background of the arts; architects, builders, manufactory and artists, so I am probably the only one who understands it fully. I can look at any piece and tell you how it’s made, where it came from and when it was made. I can also tell how to replicate it if you wanted to. We do a fair amount of replication as well. What really sets us apart is the experience, the expertise and the knowledge. We see cultural aspects to it that other places do not quite understand.

Walking around here it feels like part museum. Is that intentional or just a byproduct of the items you deal with?
Thank you! We try to feature our more unique pieces. Some of our items go to museums like the Brooklyn Museum.

While the collection here is almost incomprehensible, it there a piece or two that have just stolen you, a piece that you are proud to have had?
I had a piece from the Alhambra in Spain, a mosaic ceiling that’s even better than the one they had at the Metropolitan Museum. I had a Sullivan staircase that was pretty incredible.

I know you have another store in Connecticut, so how many stores do you have?
We have five stores in total, most of them are larger than this one. Our newest endeavor is 18 acres in Ivoryton, CT.

I have been nothing if not impressed by the items and people at Demolition Depot. I could personally spend hours upon hours there, browsing the multitude of doors and various examples of styles that span the past few hundred years. From a design standpoint, it stands as a source unlike any other.

Being an independent fashion designer is no easy feat. You are likely balancing another job to support yourself until you turn a substantial profit, and you need all the technology available. To save time on the non-design related aspects, and to save yourself from human errors, or worse, looking unprofessional. Here are 5 new technologies that will help you jump into the big leagues of the fashion industry.

Intel is committed to improving our lives with fast, light, wireless (and chic) technology. Dedicating their resources to create tools that help us create fashion make them a great partner in the design world. For more info on any of these fashion tech savvy sites, tweet us @fashionindie topic #IntelAlwaysOn

You’ve dreamt up some super phenomenal knitwear. You want it seamless, tight gauge around the waist for shaping, thick at the shoulder, and to look like an optical illusion. Stoll can help. They’ve got some of the most advanced knitting machines on the planet. They work closely with designers in midtown to nail the concept, and produced in Hong Kong. They are one of the last companies in the world to produce their own electronic components, which means they have far more control over their new developments. Which means new possibilities for you.

Your new lookbook is stunning, and now your precious list of editors, stylists, buyers and others must see it! There is little less appealing to an editor than clumsy presentation, and LookbooksPro will ensure that your emails are crisp on the receiving end, and easy to send. You can send personalized campaigns with links to full screen portfolios. You can customize newsletters with your logo and huge images. What’s even better is that you only have to upload your images once! Once you organize your photos into neat folders and tag them with descriptions, you can organize, manage, email, Facebook, Tweet and blog them with just a click. Which will save you boatloads of time to work on the actual designing.

This software will pretty much power your entire production. Its CAD (computer aided design) capabilities, to its electronic patternmaking, to full PLM (product lifecycle management) control will give you full mobility with you design process. Mostly used by the fashion chain giants, this might be one to learn for when your company goes international.

We’re still doing tradeshows like it’s the 90s; purchase orders with pen on carbon copy paper, file it later. That old way is cumbersome, and leaves too much room for error. With Handshake, you can tap your purchase orders into your iPhone or iPad, scan barcodes, send reciepts by email, and have it automatically logged electronically. Welcome to the tradeshow in 2012. Doesn’t that feel better?

If you develop your own prints, you ought to know about Costello Tagliapietra’s sworn-by source of sustainable textile printing: AirDye. In old traditional methods of dyeing, harmful toxins are flooded into the environment from the massive amount of water it takes to color a single garment. AirDye uses intense heat instead of water to fuse hue to fabric, and thus there is zero chemical waste emitting into water sources. They can also print double-sided... That’s rad.

LOOKBOOKS.com contributor Gabriel Rocha interviews photographer Nick Turner about his work and inspirations. Read the rest of the story and see the gallery after the jump.

Born in a family where the matriarch was an artist and both parents had the artistic vein, Nick Turner was surrounded by artistic expression, the things that make him who is is today. Born in Boston, Nick grew up in Maine and was home schooled until age 15. His next adventure was in France to continue his studies, where he remained until he concluded his Baccalaureate at the International School of Toulouse.

Nick was fortunate enough to be accepted into Parsons Paris campus, so he packed his bags and moved to the city of lights. During his attendance at Parsons, Nick developed a long and debilitating depression and found solace in his artwork. It was at that time he met the photographer Francois Rousseau, who was then working on the book Atelier, inspired by Patrick Grainville’s novel L’Atelier du Peintre. Rousseau cast Nick as one of the main characters in this photography book, the role of the tortured artist, a natural fit for Turner. Rousseau and Nick developed a great friendship/mentorship that made Nick realize art was a passion he should seriously pursue.

LOOKBOOKS editor-in-chief Cator Sparks explores the lost art of fashion illustration with artist Katy Smail. See the interview and fantastic gallery of her whimsical work below.

With the amount of air brushing going on these days, models in magazines look nearly good enough to hang in the Louvre. Their skin so dewy, their teeth so white and their eyes so clear, so it only make sense that the fashion world is rediscovering the lost art of illustration.

Back in the good ole days, names like Joe Eula, Antonio Lopez and Kenneth Paul Block would cross the pond to sketch the latest looks coming out of Paris to be featured in WWD and Vogue amongst others. Illustrators also worked closely with department stores such as Bonwit Teller and Lord & Taylor as well as other high end boutiques who wanted that certain pizzazz in their ads and catalogues.

Many of the great illustrators of those days have since gone to the great sketchbook in the sky, but luckily a new brigade of sketchers is cropping up. We recently met Katy Smail and were lured in by her dark and mysterious fashion damsels. Her playful animal sketches are equally mysterious and amusing. Read on to hear how this Scot ended up in Manhattan, her dream clients and who the hell this woman is she keeps drawing.

Our lovely lady Jessica over at Barneys just sent us these videos and we can’t stop watching them!

As she explained:

Progressing from Barneys’ traditional print efforts, this season it has launched the CO-OP campaign into the digital realm with two short films, both directed by noted fashion photographer Daniel Jackson. Adding to the youthful exuberance of the campaign is the cast – a charismatic and engaging group who share their own anecdotes, stories, jokes and songs, exemplifying the sense of variety to be found in CO-OP.

We have linked directly to the women’s video and you can check out the boys here.

Enjoy and we want to see you doing ‘The Pancake’ this weekend!

LOOKBOOKS contributor Sarah Jones chats with designer Alice Yim about what inspires her line in the feature StyleOnTheCouch.

I met designer Alice Yim last June at her New York showroom where I found myself drawn to her modern and minimalist pieces. I own two designs from Yim’s winter 2011 collection – the Patience dress and the Portia blouse – both of which I find hugely appealing in that they are versatile, feminine and sophisticated. The overall aesthetic of this collection was simple, metropolitan designs with a classic European twist. All her pieces are easy to wear, but I find the long dresses remarkably covetable.

Yim’s spring 2012 collection is her third full, although her knitwear designs launched back in 2007. Yim feels her spring collection “Blurs the line between staple and trend through a modern interpretation of delicate lace and silk offset by vibrant prints and edgy details.” A palette of poppy red, black, white and cerulean blue with dragonfly prints woven throughout is presented in a series of chic separates; high waisted shorts and skirts, lace trimmed blouses, cropped shirts and jackets. The dragonfly prints are Alice’s favourite pieces from the new collection. She explained, “I had the idea to use dragonflies as my inspiration back in March. The prints turned out exactly as I envisioned. Dragonflies, with elongated bodies and strong transparent wings, are some of the fastest insects in the world. To me, that’s quite symbolic.”

Alice gave me a hint for her forthcoming winter line – “It is inspired by Spanish bullfighter meets bohemian girl,” an intriguing combination! The energy of Yim’s designs is international – she was born in Hong Kong, grew up in Shanghai and now resides in New York City. Yim is drawn to artwork, vintage clothes, fabrics and trims when travelling and exploring other cultures. Future plans for the label include an accessories collection and launching a flagship store. Alice spoke of her vision; “In five years people will recognise the brand and know what we have to offer, which will eventually include handbags and accessories.”

LOOKBOOKS contributor Stacey Cunningham helms the regular feature, Kit & Kaboodle, taking a look at what makes stylists tick and keeps them sane. This week she profiled one of the busiest and most successful stylists in the industry, one Ms. Mary Alice Stephenson:

Mary Alice Stephenson wears a lot of hats! Her Facebook followers are in the five figures, she is a media go-to for her red carpet commentating and heart-filled fashion segments, a world renown stylist who has styled for icons such as Avedon, Hiro, Demarchelier, Lindbergh and Richardson as well as serving as a brand ambassador and spokesperson for many Fortune 500 brands. Oh, and we can’t forget to mention how cool it is that she and Barbie are talking fashion in her “dream” closet for BarbieWow.com next week, while still making time to be the national fashion ambassador for the Make a Wish Foundation. She gives her time and love for fashion to many charitable organizations all while being a single mom. She’s our new hero and we think soon to be yours, too!

As a fashion consultant, you get to do something different every day- which days are you favorite?

Every day is different and I love it that way! It’s such a mix — from red carpet commentating to consulting behind the scenes for Fortune 500 companies, to creative directing, to styling editorial shoots with top photographers. Each week it’s high fashion to mass fashion, it keeps me happy to be in both worlds! I can reach so many real women all over the world via social media, my followers love that they can get a look into the real world of fashion and learn how they can apply that glamour to their lives in a realistic way. One day I’m shooting for a European Vogue, doing a fashion segment for the Nate Berkus show or styling a supermodel for Estee Lauder and the next day I could be helping real women get their glam on in a mall in middle America!

Who are young designers that we should be looking to for the future of fashion?

I just had lunch with the talented designers of Cushnie et Ochs, I try to support as many up and coming designers as possible. I know how tough this business can be and how much support they need to make it. I love Flora and Alexa from Ohne Titel, Juan Carlos Obando, Joseph Altruzara, Christian Cota, Suno, Frank Tell…. There is so much talent out there right now. I try to shoot their clothes, or get them on the red carpet as well as talk about their clothes in the media to help get their point of view out to mass America. The American public needs to know there are more options than just the big brands that can afford to advertise. It’s still a struggle, for example, there were a wide range of luxury brands seen on the Golden Globe red carpet but where were Erdem, Prabal Gurung, Thakoon, Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler? I was happy to see Givenchy, Nina Ricci and Jason Wu, though — so that is some progress!

Canuck catwalker Eva Shaw (Ford) was, as she puts it, “ambushed” by strange man when she was thirteen. But before you start worrying about the direction of this story, it ends pretty well. Despite dismissing him as a “freak,” Eva told her mom about the man (like all good girls should) who turned out to be an agent from Elite Models. Okay, sometimes it pays to talk to strangers — though we’re not necessarily advocating it. Today, when she’s not shooting editorials from Paris to Morocco, Eva is spinning electro beats and moving electro feets as DJ Bambi. We caught up with Eva to discuss music and modeling and the origins of Bambi.

How did you come up with your DJ name?
Actually, I used to DJ with my boyfriend as a duo, and when I came to New York I was trying to think of a name for myself. I didn’t want to use my regular model name, so my friend said, “You should be DJ Bambi because you look like Bambi — all bewildered and skinny.”

What kind of music do you spin?
Electro house, progressive house…

What are you listening to right now?
You probably won’t even know them. I really like crazy electro stuff. I like a lot of Mark Knight. He always has really awesome productions. Funkagenda’s pretty great, Adam K. from Toronto, I love his productions. I like David Guetta [he] came out with two albums. One of them is really commercial, but his other album is more for DJs. It’s sort of harder electronic music. I really like Bassjackers right now. Alesso, Nicky Romero, Tim Berg and Zedd are new artists around my age Ireally respect. There’s so many, I could go on for days!

What are your top 5 songs right now?

Coachella Music Festival can be summed up in two words: sensory overload. Music and fashion lovers gathered in numbers around 250,000 in the piping hot desert of Palm Springs for a three day, six stage, 200+ band concert series. In addition to every trendsetter and eccentric in the country, the performances drew in the best of the fashion industry and young Hollywood. FashionIndie & Lookbooks was there to witness it all, and we certainly have a lot to report on. Here’s our recap of the best fashion events of the weekend.

Armani Exchange Neon Carnival: Armani Exchange and 944 Magazine took over a private airport on the outskirts of the festival and built a fully-functioning, Armani Exchange-branded carnival. In addition to the ferris wheel, giant slide and carnival games, they managed to build an outdoor club in the middle of the venue, complete with celebrities and bottle service. DJs Devin Lucien, Jesse Marco, and DJ Politik kept the energy high while young Hollywood danced the night away. Josh Hartnett, Paris and Nicki Hilton, Camilla Belle, Kellen Lutz, Penn Badgley, Tara Reid, Jamie Chung and Elijah Wood were just a few of our celeb spottings.

Belvedere Music Lounge: The Belve Music Lounge provided a peaceful oasis from the hot desert sun. Located at a private estate in Bermuda Dunes, the lounge had a refreshing pool, mini sand pit, cold cocktails, a fun photo booth and models in bikinis demonstrating the Belvedere shaker app on iPads. DJ sets were as sought-after as the festival lineup: The Knux, Taryn Manning, Dirty Vegas, Yacht, Punches, Blaqstarr, DJ Berrie, Junior Sanchez, Theophilus London and more spun for our pleasure. Our celeb spottings included Rosario Dawson, Brittany Snow, Laidback Luke and Miguel.

Daniel Vosovic knows how to dress a woman. He knows how to make a confident lady feel stronger and more poised than she already is. For Autumn/Winter 2011, he combined the quiet strength of a 19th century American pioneer woman with the control and sexual power of the S&M world. I got a chance to chat with Daniel at his fall 2011 collection review about his natural and urban inspiration, how his clothing is adapted for city life and what the Vosovic woman feels when wearing his garments.

Mia Morgan has been working in the fashion industry for 25 years, so she is no stranger to making people look amazing. On February 15, she is joining Lookbooks, FashionIndie and The King Collective and DOTS for a fashion week party like no other. Mia will be hosting and judging the Fashion Alchemist styling contest where participants will use clothing from DOTS to create unique looks. I had a chance to catch up with Mia and talk to her about her career, New York City and what she is looking for in the winning look.

You have decades of experience and are highly respected in the fashion industry. What is your favorite part of styling?
I love the fast pace and the constantly changing elements. Being a stylist has given me the opportunity to work with many wonderfully different and interesting clients, celebrities and magazines. It’s so gratifying. I love the travel and being on the go. Every day is a new experience.

It’s New York Fashion Week! You live and work in NYC. What do you love about the city and how does it inspire you?
Creating a beautiful world around me is something that always inspires me, and living and working in NYC has been that and more – truly inspiring. I love New Yorkers because they literally wear their individuality and personality like hearts on their sleeves. There are so many fantastic looks on the street during fashion week, it’s a feast for the eyes – very exciting. I marvel at all the fresh, new faces and wonder where they come from. That inspires me too.

You are judging the styling contest at the DOTS fashion week event. What are you looking for in the winning look?
I’m looking for creativity and something with an interesting twist. Style is about self expression so don’t be afraid to create a unique look. The winning look should be fresh and modern.

Any tips for wannabe stylists out there?
Get an internship with the best stylist you can. Someone whose work you admire. It’s important to assist for a while to learn the ropes. You can build a book for yourself during that time. Keep at it. It takes time to get all of the elements in place. Have fun and be creative but also know that it’s a very serious business when you start working with the best clients and you have to learn the business side too. Try to find a balance between editorial and advertising so that you always know the latest trends and still bring professionalism to any assignment.

You can check out Mia Morgan‘s work on her website at MiaMorgan.com. And don’t forget to RSVP for the DOTS fashion week event! Hurry, because space is limited.

Fashion kids might be border-lined obsessed with Rumi Neely’s Fashiontoast or clicking through the pages of The Vogue Diaries but even if they own the first spot in your stylish little black hearts, why not leave some room for the writers of all our favorite fashion sites and twitter accounts that keep us updated in the most wicked ways possible! It takes one to be able to capture an audience through slouchy poses, awesome clothes, and photos, but to actually be able to influence through fashion words, is major points! Plus these ten have more potential to become what I like to call the most influential blog directors on the web!

1. LOOKBOOKS.COM- With more professionalism than the presidents of fashion, their blog connects the fashion industry through everything designers, street style, fresh faces, and interviews with creatives like Danielle Levitt. All names to know for any aspirational fashion guru, and if that isn’t enough they’re always giving away million dollar baby prizes like Manolo’s!

2. The Ford Models Blog- This is their second time being on a FashionIndie influence lists as they were on the list of The Top 10 Websites Every Fashion Professional Should Know and today making it second on our favorite writers worth reading! Fresh faces, and a wicked tongue on every tweet Damien Neva keeps us updated on model lust all day!

3. Modelinia- It might say it in the name but if you really want top news about any model, from endorsements to what shoes they wore last night keep up with Bianca Posterli our favorite blogger on Modelinia.com

4. @DKNY- If we only could wish this anonymous PR guru had a blog! But luckily she does have a Fashion Week SS11 for Elle Collections out on news stands now! And with tweets like “Do you ever notice that the light never turns red when you are trying to reapply to lipstick” to “Is there a word stronger than QUEEN for Drama? Queen is just not cutting it” this Donna Karan super tweeting girl is the one to follow from all things fashion, to laughing at her so true statements!

5. Collegefashionista.com- A website filled with Zuckerberg’s inspiration of creating a connection with every fashion guru throughout every University in the world! From Yale to the many campuses of NYU, Amy Levin has pushed the limits of what fashion means to a younger audience and allowing everyone to glimpse into the innovative styles that the young create, and follow! Any fashion business would be dull without a little CollegeFashionista.com in their life!

6. @IamSamLim- I’d be surprised if you all weren’t familiar with Lookbook.com ‘s Fashion Director & Stylist, Samantha Lim. A wicked fashionista taking on New York City with killer six in pumps no matter what weather, having the best closets any girl would kill for, and getting to attend all the best style filled events out there! Not to mention she’s ridiculously funny and can write up a mean article!

7. NYLON Magazine Blogs- Not only is NYLON magazine a wicked piece of print that we anxiously wait for every month but it’s also one of the best blogs in fashion whom the magazine’s witty digital director Faran Krentcil dominates! From songs of the day, to behind the scene fashion perks, and twisted culture, it’s all about the NYLON blog.

8. @COACD- Just like a modeling agency but better! Douglas Perrett a model-casting director says it like it is and keeps his blog running with fresh faces not to mention was listed under Refinery 29’s Fashion’s 50!

9. Refinery 29- From putting together the perfect outfit dictionary for just about any occasion any glitter-veined girl would have to attend, Refinery 29 is like the guide to a perfect and easy outfit life. Clearly with some of the best street style coverage R29 is rocking it!

@Bergdorfs- Bergdorf Goodman, two words that can change any bad situation for any women into pure bliss! With a timeline dedicated to inside tips from the designers, to the store’s events, and some twitpic beauty here and there, we’d be crazy not to love @bergdorfs tweets and blog.
