Perusing High Snobiety we noticed these Mickael Flat men’s boots by Christian Louboutin (launching in October).  The mid height buckled boots are beautifully designed, but it made us wonder what the purchase psyche is behind wearing a flat, semi normal looking Louboutin.  Wasn’t the prime reason (besides their wild designs) behind paying the sky high prices mainly for the always visible, status symbol red sole? Would you pay the same price for a pair of flat Louboutins?  (See more flats here)

The scent, La Lopez’s 17th — I hope there’s a FiFi buried somewhere in there — is a “sparkling floral, woody fragrance” that purports to show off the diva’s softer, more sensual side.

The Daily Mail (via NY Magazine) reports that industries in the U.K. like banks, airlines and shops can no longer require women to wear high heels in the office.

Wonder what this will mean to Louboutin and Blanik?

The August issue of Bazaar contains a “Fashion Olympics” spread by Peter Lindbergh featuring Lucy Liu. These images have gotten much controversy from the public, stating that this is mockery of the Olympic games. Since the games are in China, the photographer choose Queens born Lucy Liu as the star of his spread, which has made many people unhappy. Some say the photospread is dumb, using a movie star to convey the emotions of an athlete while wearing Louboutin heals and holding $3100 Gucci bags. I happen to disagree, I think these images are an ode to the Olympic games and actually pay homage to the athletes who dedicate their lives to sports. Obviously, the shoot was staged, and wearing heals while running races is impossible, that’s why you have to look beyond the pretty pics and realize that the photographer was making a statement.
