For Some People Louis Vuitton Is Worth (Nearly) Dying For

We all know Mother’s Day was this past weekend (and if you didn’t you’re already introuble so it’s too late to make up for it), and I was fortunate enough to spend the weekend in Chicago with my brother, sister and parents. Now I hadn’t been there since I was seven, so I was eager to return. Little did I know some crazy shit was going to go down while I was there.
The Magnificant Mile, Chicago’s fifth ave. is full of big name designer stores including the illustrious Louis Vuitton. This would be the scene of some of a police shoot out that is 100% fashion worthy. According the Chicago Breaking News Center, a woman entered the store and purchased a bunch of goods that were assumed to be purchased on a stolen credit card. This was confirmed as soon as she returned to the store hours later to purchase more items (IDIOT!!!) Upon doing so the police arrived and the woman made a run for it. When she got to her get away vehicle the police grabbed her, at which time she reached for one of the officer’s gun, which resulted in the other officer shooting her fraudulant ass in the stomach…YES!!!! The woman isn’t dead but she is in critical condition. That’s what happens when you try and steal Louis in Kanye’s hometown!
Hey it could be worse she could have been taken down Kanye’s Mulfro, and that is a form of public embarassment I wish upon no one!

Oh yeah that’s what it looks like when you get shot on Michigan Ave. and yes that is the woman!
Mischa Barton Wears Chanel, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana And Louis Vuitton

Here is Mischa on set of her new fashion-based TV show – Beautiful Life.
The actress will play a New York-based model in the pilot episode, which will also feature a cameo appearance from supermodel Elle Macpherson.
TRENDSPARK: Denim Tops
This spring, denim is the new black. We’ve seen destroyed denim cut-off shorts and boyfriend jeans make it big, but possibly the trendiest look for the season is denim on top. Ever since I saw Corey rock out his denim vest last summer, I’ve been pretty optimistic about this look, but denim vests are just the beginning. The spring season forecasts denim blazers, tank-tops, tuxedo button ups and tee-shirt dresses. While light-wash and destroyed pieces are all the go for the fall, I wouldn’t be too surprised if sleek, dark-washes continue into the chillier months.
If you’re a bit apprehensive that this look might make you look like an 80’s rocker or worse, red-neck trailer trash, take a look at some of styling ideas from the Spring 2009 runways. Givenchy, Louis Vuitton and even Banana Republic know what’s up!

CONFIRMED: Madonna for LV Fall 09

Madonna will once again be the face of the upcoming Louis Vuitton campaign for the Fall/Winter 2009 collection. Following the Spring/Summer 2009 ad campaign, Louis Vuitton, its creative director Marc Jacobs, and Madonna, will be collaborating for a second consecutive season, again photographed by Steven Meisel in New York City, under the art direction of Marc Jacobs. The first images of the campaign should appear in August issues of fashion magazines, and blogs as soon as we can get out hands on them.
And The Lawsuit Saga Continues…
For any of you law aficionados out there, the case Liebeck Vs. McDonald’s probably rings a bell. If not, heres a brief synopsis: Liebeck sued McDonald’s, winning herself nearly $3 million, for burning her lap after spilling hot coffee. Hm, doesn’t coffee imply that the beverage is hot? Regardless, here’s another foolish lawsuit to add to the mix:
Clint Arthur, a businessman and fine art collector, bought special Takashi Murakami for Louis Vuitton prints at L.A.’s Museum of Contemporary Art two years ago. A little while down the road, Arthur realized that these prints were made from scrap pieces used to make purses. His resolution: take Louis Vuitton to court for fraudulent deception. Apparently, Arthur was a bit miffed that his prints cost $6000 each when the purses, which require far more craftsmanship, only cost $1000. While Vuitton claims that Arthur should have known the prints were made of scraps, offering the collector a full refund plus interest, Arthur presses onward in the hopes of correcting this “fraud” and collecting around $12 million.
Really, the price discrepancy is totally reasonable. While the prints used are exactly the same, purses use far less of the material than the hanging prints. To me, this lawsuit sounds sounds like a bit of mid-life crisis drama and sought after entertainment. Seriously Arthur, go watch Gossip Girl or something. That should feed your petty drama craving for a few hours.
Thanks NY Mag!
VIDEO: Robotic Mannequins

Tatsuya Matsui has designed robots for the likes of Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, and the MOMA–including an animatronic mannequin that uses visual data recognition to figure out which poses make people people want to buy their crazy-expensive clothes. This is the next level of retail.
Peter Copping to Replace Olivier Theyskens at Nina Ricci

The rumors about Peter Copping heading design at Nina Ricci are true. On Monday, the ex–Louis Vuitton designer officialy replaced Olivier Theyskens, and started working on a resort collection to be unveiled in late June. However, his first runway show won’t take place until next March, allowing him plenty of time to situate himself in the label before coming-out at Paris Fashion Week.
Louis Vuitton Donates for Earth Day

Louis Vuitton decided to donate 15 percent of all sales from its U.S. Web site that day to The Climate Project, the non-profit organization founded by Al Gore.
They first partnered with The Climate Project in 2007, when it started
making donations on behalf of some of the personalities in Vuitton’s
Core Values advertising campaign.
The campaign has featured the
likes of Catherine Deneuve, Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi, Sean Connery,
Keith Richards and Francis Ford and Sofia Coppola.
“Over the
past few years Louis Vuitton has voluntarily made efforts to reduce the
impact of its activities on the environment,” Daniel Lalonde, president
and chief executive officer of Louis Vuitton North America said. “In
addition we are proud to be able to support The Climate Project.”

WTF!?! Mischa Barton #fashionfail

I know there are those days when I wake up and I just don’t feel like dressing up so I throw on some dog hair covered sweatpants, one of Daniel’s t-shirts, and throw my hair up in some random configuration with a rubberband. Even on those days, I look a thousand times better than Misha Farton does here. It looks like her fat ass has finally won and she’s given in to wearing maternitywear. The Louis Vuitton shoes aren’t enough to save this outfit. Next time you’re forced to make a public apperance to pay for your nose candy see if they can’t spring for a stylist. You obviously can’t be trusted with a well stocked closet.
ADDICT: Kanye x Louis Vuitton

Kanye [and a little of Amber Rose] star in the new ads for his sneaker collaboration with Louis Vuitton.
Spending $900 on Velcro sneaks and being around Kanye’s incredible genius makes me tired, too, Amber!
See three more images of the campaign in our gallery.

ADDICT: Fall 09

Madonna might do an encore for LV for Fall 09, reuniting with photographer Steven Meisel
Jennifer Connelly might be in Balenciaga’s next campaign, being tapped again by designer Nicolas Ghesquière
Christy Turlington and Spanish male supermodel Andrés Velencoso recently shot the Fall 09 campaing for YSL, with photograhpers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin
SPREAD UM: Adriana Lima for El Pais Magazine

In case you needed another reason to hate Adriana (for being gorgeous), but here it is. Personally, I’m jealous of the Alexander Wang dress (which I could never wear) and the Louis Vuitton heels (which I could never afford).
Madonna Rumored for Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 Ads

Rumor has is that Madonna will extend her stay as the face of Louis Vuitton, and star in a new Steven Meisel-shot campaign for Fall 2009.
Nothing has been confirmed yet, but it sounds like we should know more in the next month.
Would it be Madonna overload? Are we all so over the divorce and adoption dramz, or do we want to see more Madge in LV?

Runway To Stefani’s. The Looks from Her Elle Photo Shoot

Gwennie wears Fall 2009’s most mainstream looks in this ELLE shoot. Seriously, your only indie is Rodarte!!! Shame Elle, shame. You didn’t make her wear the Louis bunny ears. It’s Easter guys and the baby Jesus is now officially going to chuck colored eggs at your asses.
Louboutin Ventures into Sneakerville
Here’s something we don’t hear often, a designer solely known for his high heels ventures into designing a sneaker! Guess this is sort of similar to Kanye West doing a sneaker for Louis Vuitton.
So I’m not going to show you the shoe, you’re gonna have to click through to see if, but promise to comment with your reactions…
RANDOM COOL: Luxury Grocery Totes

You can now be the coolest one shopping at Trader Joe’s (or Whole Foods) with these Louis Vuitton inspired tote bags. They are designed to not only hold your food, but imporve the environment as well. As more and more grocers are switching to reuseable bags, the industry for the trendiest canvas tote is picking up. Just wait until someone makes a real designer grocery tote.
