We haven’t had a good Madonna cover story in a while, but then again the Material Diva has been too busy getting sued, adopting kids, making critically-lambasted movies, robbing cradles and smelling up the joint to pay attention to her newsstand following. But truth be told, Madge is one of the best editorial gals in the business — be it model, actress, singer, or what-have-you. Just take a look at her epic portfolios with Steven Klein for W. For Harper’s Bazaar‘s December issue, Tom Munro captures the icon with her W.E. leading lady, Andrea Riseborough, with styling from Arianne Phillips.

Kelly Osbourne has replaced Taylor Momsen as the face of Material Girl, Madonna and daughter Lourdes‘s clothing line for Macys. Apparently they want to go for a different image, perhaps one that didn’t look like it was dragged through a landfill of cigarettes, eyeliner and bad attitude.

By what I can remember at the age of thirteen my biggest fashion statement was seductively living through my very boy-crazy school uniforms… times we do not speak of… but now thanks to thirteen year olds such as Lourdes Leon who also vicariously lives through her alter ego’s name LOLA, and who has already snagged her first magazine cover for Quality June 2010, she has forever changed tweeny style, but as Madonna’s daughter how could you not expect such sweet things in her young life. Her twistedly wicked style has lead her to become another blogger to add to the list… this is what assures us that the wonderous world of blogging is still getting a bit more bizzare. Leon’s blog ironically began with the idea for Macy’s department store line Material Girl, perhaps no punn intended but I highly doubt that. Her blog is witty, hilarious, and a bit on the gothic side… with her every so often My Chemical Romance love letters. Though the very best part of it all, is all of her fashion inspirations wrapped up in one. This girl from my point of view is going to be beyond the definition of “when superstar’s children go wild”… perhaps expecting this child to let my party girl Lindsey retire peacefully from all tabloid fronts. You could say Leon’s style can be described as a mixture of a young Cory Kennedy, with a twist of her mother’s glam genes. Until further notice the world of fashion is creepishly keeping their eyes on this golden child… as we all expect even more baby gaga inspired duds to addictivly hit.

Hey Fashion Fans, here’s your first look at the design inspirations for Material Girl, Madonna and daughter Lourdes Leon’s new juniors collection set to debut in Macy’s stores across the country on Aug. 3.

It’s quite Madge circa 1984. Looks like The Material Mom’s bringing back the decade of big hair and door knocker earrings in more than just a song. The back-to-school apparel collection — which will range in price from $12-$24 — will also launch footwear, handbags, and assorted accessories.

This is a collection that I like, as well as understand…..It’s very “Madonna,” and certainly the kind of designs that I would expect, based on the fact that she has a teen-aged daughter. I can hardly wait to see the entire collection, as I’m sure that there will be some great mix and match pieces that will easily integrate with other wardrobe items. I look forward to see lots of studs and rhinestones!
