Ditto’s currently in Paris for couture week where she confessed that Jean Paul Gaultier‘s Amy Winehouse-inspired collection almost made her cry and gave her chills — in a good way. While in the City of Lights, the singer will attend a fancy shmancy dinner to celebrate the cosmetic collaboration as the special guest of Estée Lauder group president and MAC AIDS Fund chairman John Demsey and MAC global president Karen Buglisi. - Chanel has confirmed rumors that Alice Dellal is the newest face of its Boy Chanel handbag campaign, shot by Karl Lagerfeld himself. [WWD]

Pugh is no stranger to a full face; he started wearing makeup as an 8-year-old ballerina but gave up the dance to pursue fashion at 16. To this day, however, he refuses to leave the house without his face painted — “To me, it’s like putting my shoes on.”

Demonstrating characteristics of a nascent hoarder — “I never throw anything away” — Pugh dug through his studio for inspiration to send to MAC: “There’s a butterfly ring, which is how we came up with the iridescent thing. There was a hematite rock that I’d picked up in Evolution in New York. I can’t resist that place. It’s full of dead things and crystals. I sent Mac the feathered head-dresses from my spring/summer 2010 show – light grey feathers, that’s how we came up with that colour. It’s all come from the same place so it works as a collection, I think. It tells a story.”

The result is a beautifully dark, and darkly beautiful, collection that features a duo-chromatic nail polish, a matte powder designed for all skin complexions and Flight Lashes, a pair of false lashes that could easily take you up, up and away on a strong breeze.

The collaborative process seems to have been beneficial for both sides with MAC’S senior VP and creative director James Gager remarking:  ”The main thing is that Gareth is this young, vital, progressive creative force. I feel that aligning ourselves with someone like that says a lot to both our [make-up] artists and our customers about the vitality of Mac as a brand.”

“I don’t do a lot of collaborations, especially not with big companies,” Pugh admitted, ” and I think only a few of those would be willing to commit to this level of investment: custom packaging, a film. It’s been done really beautifully and, like I say, Mac has done my shows for many years, make-up is important to my shows, I wear make-up and it’s kind of let me do what I want.”

To promote Gareth Pugh for MAC, a short film was shot starring model Alla Kostromichova that will be screened alongside the product once the collection launches online and in select MAC stores in December. [Independent]

The 21-piece collection is composed of “rich, seasonal hues” and will expand internationally in January after its launch in North America.

Milk is now represented by Creative Artists Agency and has brought on Lexus and American Express as sponsors in addition to original partner MAC Cosmetics.  This partnership has also gone through some changes and beginning this Fashion Week MAC & Milk shows will be under the name of Made.

Lincoln Center on the other hand has IMG, Mercedes-Benz and Maybelline, as well as AmEx with MAC also providing make-up for many a MBFW show.

While Made focuses on emerging designers and does not charge to rent their space — MAC is the exclusive make-up provider leaving models and music on the bill — Lincoln Center caters to more high-profile designers, who in addition to paying for the venue also have to dig deep for models, hair, music and makeup. And these are just a few of the differences:

2. Multiple sparkly Milani nail polish. I did my nails everywhere, painting over layers to change up the colors constantly. There was a rotating slew of colors that cycled through the bag this week.

3. Lipsticks: Illamasqua: The Box (rouge), YSL fucsia, Iman (Pat Field‘s) Jaguar

4. Business cards. Gave out about 75, received at least as many.
5. Several WWDs and Daily Front Rows. I do admit I love reading the Daily.
6. Tickets. Many. Some I’ve disposed of, some made it. Some standing, some seats. None actually with my name on it.
7. Various runs of show. Ones that have lingered in my bag: Timo Weiland, Anna Sui, Dennis Basso, Alexandre Herchcovitch.
8. ESSENTIAL: Blackberry. Can’t believe it took me this long to talk about it. Maybe because I’ve done so much damage on it that it actually just broke. Fashion Week broke my phone…. now…. iPhone?
9. Because that’s not an iPhone, that’s an iPod touch and it’s been keeping me cat walking myself from place to place.
10. Biggie camera. I spent 3 years, that’s 6 seasons in the PIT with this guy. Not this year. Now I just got to use it on celebs backstage, at presentations and the like.

I used the camera to take amazing photos all over NYC this Fashion Week.The Coke Zero is used solely for caffeine purposes but Lord knows I dont need any empty calories. I have two pairs of sunglasses to switch up my eyewear but maintain my air of mystery. The Marc Jacobs ones were gifted to me by stylist Robert Verdi as was the Kenneth Cole cologne, Reaction (the scent is fresh and young).  Finally the latest copy of VMAN for the train and cab rides all over the city. And yes I still have the dollar that was in his mouth.

The collection will be suitably supersized, featuring comically large  lipglosses ($19.95), blushes  ($24) and purse mirrors ($20).  James Gager, senior vice president and creative director of MAC Worldwide explains:

“Since Wonder Woman has this amazing strength, we decided that the products in the collection should be larger than anything we do; from the size of the compacts to the jumbo blush.”

Gager, however, does not seem to be fully aware of Wonder Woman’s abilities, claiming she ”uses the power of makeup to eliminate dullness and make women beautiful.”

I assume she uses those bullet-deflecting bracelets to check if she has any lipstick on her teeth.

That lipstick, by the bye, will be in Russian Red, a matte cherry color that was Madonna’s blonde ambition in the early 90s.

Wonder Woman apparently likes her eye shadow in white, pink, silver, forest green, olive-bronze and a frosty lime. Mascaras will come in black as well as shades of purple, green and blue to dazzle any evildoers. Even better, the glamazon can match her nail polish to her costume with a choice of bright red or navy blue.

Gager expects the Wonder Woman line to be more popular than MAC’s Hello Kitty and Barbie collaborations, predicting it will sell out in the first 2 weeks of its 6 week availability.

You can golden lasso one of those super compacts at MAC’s special pop-up at 109 Prince St in Manhattan on February 3rd. The store will be open thru mid-April when it become a new MAC store.

And if you’re not in New York, you can also get the limited edition line at one of the 767 locations where MAC is sold in North America (or the 757 locations globally).

So fuel up those invisible jets, ladies and pick yourself up a little Wonder.

When Rodarte chose to uptake a Mexican inspiration for their latest MAC line their objective was to celebrate different aspects of the culture. For example, one of the pink lip glosses is named Quinceañera, after the cultural tradition. But there’s one nail polish name that has seemed to spark some problems, Juarez. The Frisky, a blogger, explains why the name is so offensive:

Why’s it tasteless? Juarez is an impoverished Mexican factory town notorious for the number of women between the ages of 12 and 22 who have been raped and murdered with little or no response from police.

My guess would be the companies didn’t know this when they decided to name the polish.

M.A.C Cosmetics has teamed with Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet Eisner to create their very own limited edition makeup collection. The line includes a number of colorful glosses, shimmers and polishes set to hit store shelves starting on June 8th with prices ranging from $12 to $19.50.

Unfortunately, this sleek pink lipstick that was created by the Lady Herself won’t allow you to sing like her, but you’ll look really pretty.

Since it’s part of the MAC Viva Glam lipstick series, every cent of each purchase goes straight to the MAC AIDS Fund. That’s definitely worth $14, I’d say.

In case you missed it, here is Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper on Good Morning America talking about their roles in MAC’s Viva Glam Campaign for HIV/AIDS awareness.

 Iconic British luxury brand Liberty of London and MAC Cosmetics have teamed up to produce a limited-edition makeup line that will feature saturated hues and pretty packaging. The collection won’t hit stores for another two months, however – March 11, to be exact.  Judging from the success of the DSquared/MAC collaboration, it’s something to look forward to.

 There will be soft, luminescent highlighters in mod white compacts, plenty of creamy lipsticks and eyeshadows, and a dark green/blue pearlized nail polish, all with adorable illustrations of flowers on the packaging.

There will even be a specially-designed Liberty of London scarf that will retail at $115.

For Rodarte’s Spring/Summer 2010 Runway Show last week during Fashion Week in NYC, MAC Cosmetic’s Senior Artist Chantel Miller took makeup art to new heights. In collaboration with Rodarte designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy , miller designed full-sleeve, half-sleeve and neck tattoos painted on BY HAND using only MAC cosmetics and brushes. It took 40 artists, yes I said 40 artists, and 4 hours to prepare and accomplish the look on the models before the show.

One of the few things I like about winter is the ability to dress in very dark colors without looking like you hate the world. Black, deep purple and dark red have always been my favorites for the months of snowfall (not that I don’t wear black every day, regardless of the season). And as clothing gets darker and heavier, so does winter makeup. Black cherry lips have been popping up everywhere. M.A.C. shows it worn with electric yellow eyeshadow to brighten up the face. Christina Aguilera looked pin-up pretty wearing it in the most glamorous way at the American Music Awards. I always think I don’t look good in red lipstick, but this is a color I really want to try this season.

I picked up this month’s Paper magazine and was pleasantly surprised to see Julianne Moore on the cover. Not only is she a highly talented actress, but she defies Hollywood by maintaining her personal style. I thought the title, “Karma Chameleon,” was perfect for the spread, shot by Marilyn Minter. Her dewey, M.A.C.-glittered cheeks complement her luminous red hair and sharp green eyes. It’s refreshing to see things straying from the boring-magazine-cover norm.

You know you hate it. It’s the worse attempt at unscripted I’ve ever seen. Wow.
