The wax statues of the royal couple cost £150,000 each (about $238,305 at current exchange rates) and are expected to be the museum’s most popular attraction, even eclipsing the Queen herself. A stone’s throw away, the likeliness of Princess Diana watches over Will and Kate beatifically, with Prince Harry by her side.

The royals have traditionally sat for a sculptor but with the young couple’s busy schedules, Madame Tussauds had to settle for photographs instead, from which a team of 30 worked for four months.

In New York, Kate wears the Alexander McQueen showstopper from the “BAFTA Brits to Watch” event in LA while in Amsterdam she’s adorned in the lacey Temperley gown from the War Horse premiere. Later this month, Madame Tussauds in Blackpool will unveil the Duchess in the beaded blush Jenny Packham gown she wore for her first public engagement as an honest woman.

I personally can’t wait for Pippa to get her wax figure — and what a figure it will be —  hopefully posed doing a keg stand while wax Harry holds her legs in the air. Royal siblings are the best. [Telegraph]

The sale benefits the Amy Winehouse Foundation, an organization the late singer’s parents set up to help kids in need of assistance. ”I can’t put into words how grateful I am to Kerry [Taylor Auctions] and Disaya for their support and hard work,” said Winehouse’s father, Mitch. “We are just over the moon and this is a wonderful start to the foundation. We are off to visit a homeless charity in Euston tomorrow and so the money will go to a good cause straight away.”

Among other items auctioned off yesterday was a beaded fall 2007 Alexander McQueen evening gown — sold for $127,000 — and a replica of Princess Diana‘s wedding dress made by Elizabeth and David Emanuel for Madame Tussaud’s, which sold for $78,300. [WWD]

In honor of Halloween and the 25th anniversary of Michael Jackson’s record-breaking Thriller album, hundreds of fans turned up at Madame Tussauds in Times Square to attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most people doing the Thriller dance at the same time.

All decked out in ghoulish costumes, participants received lessons on how to do the Thriller dance, got a zombie makeover, and were photographed with Madame Tussauds’ Michael Jackson wax figure.

So sad we missed it…

Amy Winehouse’s Madame Tussauds wax statue with Winehouse’s parents.  

Amy was not present at the unveiling ceremony… She was busy. 

As much as I love Amy Winehouse’s music, her behavior is clearly out of control. Madame Tussauds London wax museum honored the absent Winehouse, by erecting an Amy Winehouse wax figure. Her sweet parents were in attendance. Her wax portrayal is a little different than her real appearance. For instance, Winehouse is not disheveled,scarred, snorting or smoking anything. Miraculous! Tussauds did follow through with the soul singer’s myriad of tattoos. It’s sad. Tussauds probably did this to honor Winehouse before her inevitable death.
