She’s contributed to big name ad campaigns such as Avon, Schweppes and Omega. Her work can be spotted anywhere from red carpet runways to onscreen film. Plain and simple, Angela’s résumé speaks for itself.

Angela’s years in the industry working alongside top-tier photographers and stylists have lent her an expert eye for makeup artistry. She is gifted with an undeniable adeptness at picking the perfect look for her clients’ many occasions. Currently, she’s backed by the always-amazing Tracey Mattingly, and she doubles as a Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist.

LookBooks reached out to Angela for an e-interview owing to her consistent relevance in fashion and because shecontinues to make waves in the industry. We were excited to receive the following answers from Angela!

What initially drew you to becoming a makeup artist?

I think as a child growing up in Italy I was exposed to art. I was always mesmerized by the images on the canvas, how they came alive even though they were on a flat surface. I loved the art of creating dimension and I loved faces – so the rest is history.

How did you get to this point in your career, working with A-list celebrities left and right?

I think there are no short cuts. It takes devotion, hard work and lots of love to my craft.

What makeup line do you tend to gravitate towards?

Chanel!

Off the top of your head, who do you think are the top 5 hair and makeup people in the industry right now?

Oh, so many in the hair world. I suppose David Babaii, Chris McMillan, Robert Vetica, Marc Townsend and Adir Abergel.

In the makeup world, Francesca Tolot, Jeanine Lobell, Kevyn Aucoin … so many, I just can’t think of more at this moment.

Which creative director would you really love to work with in the near future?

God so many! Whomever wants to work with me I suppose.

What drew you to Tracey Mattingly? What are some of the advantages of working there?

Her honesty and personality. She is very respectful and she is looking out for us, the artists.

You’ve worked with a slew of celebrities in your career. Who were some of your favorite to work with and why?

They are really all my favorites. Some have become very close friends mainly because we spent so much time together.

What advice would you have for young, aspiring makeup artists? What’s the most important thing they need to know to get to the level you’re at?

Be professional, be on time, do your research and always be prepared. Don’t bring your dramas into work with you. Keep a clean and organized makeup kit.

It sounds like you keep a busy schedule. What do you like to do in your free time?

I am a simple girl. I like to cook and spend time with my friends and poodles.

Love to all!

Angela

To book Angela Levin, visit Makeup, hair, and general beauty regimen are all categories that are vital to our overall appearance this winter. Running away in fear of the dry cold winter months? These stylists have just the right tricks to keep us looking beautified.

Natalie DiStefano, who specializes in makeup, has offered up a trick to looking moisturized with just the perfect amount of foundation. But first things first, you need to apply your eye makeup first! Ever notice those little specks of eye shadow that fall on your face and ruin the foundation? This is the best way to avoid that. Do the shadow first and the foundation after. And always make sure that your face is good and moisturized before you throw that foundation on.

If you’re a blond, be sure to heighten that color in the middle of the winter. Making the hair blonder in these cold dark months is essential, says John Whelan, colorist. The same goes for the red heads, “this is not a hair color for the faint of heart,” he says. As for the brunettes out there, try out some highlights. Nothing too crazy, but soft ones can really do the trick.

Arsi Tavitian, an Aesthetician, gives us some at home remedies to keep our skin looking healthy. Chamomile tea bags, parsley, honey and egg yolks all make the list of concoctions for various at-home creations!

It’s 4 a.m., Call Your Makeup Artist

BEAUTY

GIRLS

american express

bergdorf goodman

edward bess

fountainebleau hotel

makeup

makeup artist

makeup card

Miami

NYC

If your getting the need to feel all exclusive, here’s your perfect shot. Edward Bess has created a room service makeup company for 24 hr service 7 days a week. Yes everyone, you can get your makeup done professionally at 4 in the morning. But before you start running for the phone, and your wallets of course, here’s the exclusive catch: The service is only available to those that hold the Bess card pictured above. You can purchase the card in Bergdorf Goodman at an Edward Bess counter, that’s in addition to the cost of a makeup artist, which runs at the small price of $400 per visit.

So if you live in NYC or the Fountainebleau Hotel in Miami, the only two places the service is available, get your hands on the Bess, you’ll feel just as important as the black card holder from American Express.
<p
