- It seems no matter what Madonna tries to do in, around, or for Malawi, she just can’t get a break. Following the controversy surrounding the perhaps not-so-legal adoption of son, David Banda — and she apparently picked up another African baby, daughter Mercy James along the way — Madge tried to open up a school for girls. Well, that fell through and now 8 former employees of the superstar’s Raising Malawi charity are suing her over the loss of their jobs. Madge, just leave helping out Africa to the pros: Oprah and Angelina Jolie. [Guardian]

Madonna donated ‘only’ 250K to Haiti relief, which so far, is the smallest donation. I’m sure if it was Malawi, she’s adopt all survivors!

Renzo Rosso has been attending amfAR galas for more years than he will comfortably admit. The philanthropist recently hit in the Cinema Against AIDS benefit at the Cannes Film Festival, where it appears that seatmates Juliette Lewis and Petra Nemcova set the Diesel chief’s charitable fire up a notch or two.  On the spot, Renzo donated $150,000 to the construction of a hospital for the care of children suffering from AIDS in Malawi. No word on whether Madonna will be involved, but Lewis cheered in approval. She certainly looked the part in her frock from the Diesel Black Gold casual luxury collection launching this fall.
