NY Fashion Week: Mandate of Heaven

Edited by

Thanks to Stylesightings, we can bring you this coverage of Mandate of Heaven since we couldn’t attend their show. Def sorry we missed it, it looked great, and love the one of a kind concept. We did get a sneak peak at the collection on the Brooklyn Bridge, when they showcased three of their current pieces, and I must say the rest of the collection is just as adorable.

Fashion Indie Catches The Eye Of BBC!

Edited by

BBC was at the office shooting some video for the Brooklyn Bridge show on Tuesday, and their full video coverage hit the web today. Check out the link below for some hot video of our models stomping the bridge, as well as some interview with models and designers. Not quite the same experience as being there, but that’s your own dumb fault for not coming!

Check out the vid here!

Mandate of Heaven, a Brooklyn-based favorite, has decided to create video invite for their show. It’s the smartest thing we’ve seen a young designer do (aside from getting on the Fashion Indie Week Brooklyn calendar) in some time. Check out the videos, then droll over her collection.

Runway: Mandate of Heaven, Fall 08

Edited by

I’ve been thinking a lot about clothing lately. I think there is a big potential for the whole clothing experience to be re-invented so we don’t have to hurt the environment and humanity so much. Instead of always using new fabric and shipping clothes made in sweat shops by little kids all over the world a very different approach can be taken. One major step in the right direction is what this a friend of a friends clothing line is up to.Mandate of Heaven makes their clothes from recycled fabric. And they distribute their clothes primarily locally which cuts down on shipping and packaging pollution. They’re also all very expressive clothes which gives the person wearing them a strong individuality and uniqueness which helps break out of the manufactured mindset of manufactured clothes.I was invited to check out their show and decided to bring my camera. Then I couldn’t help myself and wanted to edit their show into a video with music by one of my favorite local bands Forest Fire who I’ve posted a performance by in the past.
