- Karlie Kloss, movie star. Kloss’ rise to superstardom in the world of modeling means that Hollywood will begin knocking on her door, if they haven’t rammed it down already. Karlie may be following in the strides of other model-turned-actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and is eschewing the catwalk for the film studio.

- Maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s a beauty contract. While the runway pays well for girls of Karlie’s stature, a beauty campaign can set a model on the catwalk to Easy Street for the rest of her life. Since snagging Estée Lauder, when’s the last time you saw Hilary Rhoda walk a show?

- Karlie Kloss, new creative director at Christian Dior. This may be a bit of a stretch, but the house does love them some Kloss. She hasn’t missed a step in a single Dior show — from couture to resort — in years and Bernard Arnault might want to just keep her around.

- Strike a pose, there’s nothing to it. As everyone knows, models making the cover of Vogue is as rare as a viable Republican candidate for the presidency. So what better reason to cancel on Fashion Week than to jet off to Paris for an exclusive shoot with Mario Testino for a star-making cover?

- Karlie Kloss DiCaprio. After she walked in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, Leonardo DiCaprio was reportedly smitten with the leggy Ms. Kloss. He’s landed Gisele and Bar Refaeli, why not add the newest bright young thing to his collection of catwalkers?

- Hopefully you all tuned in last night to the season premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race — i.e. the greatest show of all time. If you did, you might have noticed the thirteen dragtacular contestants brilliantly recreating the finale to Alexander McQueen‘s spring 1999 fashion show in which Shalom Harlow was assaulted by two paint-spewing mechanical arms. In a pose strikingly similar to her July Vogue cover, also shot by Testino, Watson nevertheless looks fresh and fabulous. But more than just a pretty face, the enterprising Watson also provided her own input on the “Rouge in Love” line’s 24 shades, which will be hitting stores in February. [Telegraph]

This is Kloss’ eighth international Vogue cover, though she has yet to score that grand daddy of covers — American Vogue. However, the S.S. Karlie is blasting into outer-space considering her recent strut down the Victoria’s Secret runway.

And then there’s the guaranteed seal of supermodel approval – the not-at-all-creepy attentions of noted supermodelizer Leonardo DiCaprio.  Come 2012 — mark my words —  Anna Wintour will render her in some disappointing cover story shot by default photogs, Mario Testino or Annie Leibovitz.

From there, next stop: world domination.

This will be the first baby for Restoin-Roitfeld and her Swedish model boyfriend Robert Konjic. Too bad Carine isn’t still at Vogue Paris so we could have a pregnant Julia naked on the cover shot by Karl Lagerfeld or Mario Testino. Ah, well. #MissedOpportunities [Styleite]

According to Style File: “The Traina sisters reportedly jumped when they heard the first crack, others found themselves flat on the floor after the benches, supporting the likes of Mario Testino, Catherine Deneuve, Carine Roitfeld, and Style.com’s Nicole Phelps, broke.”

Everyone stood their ground, however — note Vogue‘s Hamish Bowles, Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington dutifully in the front row — and the reaction was favorable with Anna Dello Russo remarking via Twitter that it was an “amazing” show and likening the experience to church.

Testino has long been a close friend of the royal family and was considered Princess Diana‘s favorite photographer. He shot the late princess with the wee princes William and Harry for their 1994 Christmas portraits and was the last person to photograph her, for Vanity Fair in 1997.

Of course, Testino also shot William and Kate’s official engagement photos, a by-product of which appeared on the July issue of Vanity Fair. Anna is seeking to exploit this relationship to convince the Duchess to sit for Vogue, but she’ll have to go through the Queen first. A source speaking to the New York Post says that “the Palace must approve it, and they are very protective of Kate.”

Vogue UK‘s Alexandra Shulman tried to snag Kate for her cover before the royal wedding, but Middleton declined. Diana herself appeared on the cover of British Vogue three times — in 1981, 1991 and 1994 with a posthumous cover in 1997 — so if Kate does decide to be a cover girl, she might do the nationalistic thing and follow in those iconic footsteps. *UPDATE: Fashion Copious has amended the statement: “What I meant was that Testino is a lazy photographer that lacks a point of view at this stage of his life. And hence am surprised that he’s being hired and paid handsomely for his [currently] shitty work.”

After receiving his BFA at Tufts University in 1988, he moved to NYC permanently where he began work as a photographer. Starting out with black and white portraits, Armstrong began to experiment with landscapes and cityscapes in the nineties. Mario Testino shot Rosie for the scent’s campaign, directed by Burberry chief creative officer, Christopher Bailey who had this to say about his new Body:

“Burberry Body is the most exciting launch that we have ever created and captures the iconic spirit of the brand today in a striking and sensual way.”

As for Huntington-Whiteley, she’s just happy to strip down and thinks that being the first “Burberry Body” is an “amazing compliment.”

Easing on down the Royal Road:

Everything has been planned for Will and Kate’s Big Day, including my schedule: roll out of bed at 4:45, pop the bottle of champagne I’ve been saving for this very moment, don an appropriate hat, log onto Fashion Indie’s Twitter and wait with bated breath for Kate to stroll down the aisle in her (hopefully Alexander McQueen) wedding dress.

So join me, won’t you, tomorrow morning so can we live vicariously together through the Wedding of the Century and console me as I’ll be openly weeping at losing one more chance at marrying into the royal family.

Emmanuelle Alt is writing her own ticket for VOGUE Paris. I was not expecting a fundamental change in the Editorial Direction being that she has been the Fashion Director of the magazine for over ten years and collaborating with Carine Roitfeld. Thus the assumption that there would be little change from the status quo. However, the April 2011 issue of VOGUE Paris gives a clear new direction; bye bye porno chic, provocation, unjustified nudity, welcome softness, lifestyle, casual clothing. Emmanuelle’s approach is more consensual and obviously more commercial, which the fashion customer might find more accessible.

I want to show in French Vogue more and more a lot of clothes … It’s a different point of view, but nobody gave me a mission to change it or make it more commercial. she stressed in her WWD’s interview

Her vision of fashion is also conditioned by the choice of photographer she has decided to collaborate with and thus don’t expect any radical changes in those she has already worked with.

I want to keep the quality, the photographers we work with—David Sims, Mert and Marcus, Mario Testino, and Bruce Weber. I don’t think there should be radical changes. The magazine should still be chic and sophisticated. VOGUE.com interview

There has been one huge surprise however… The Return of Hans Feurer in VOGUE Paris is great news and a welcome change.

Hans Feurer’s style is easily recognizable:

• Outdoor shoots, long lenses, grainy film aspect, blurred background, sharp on the model (bokeh effect), sunrise or sunset light and often with the introduction of back light and flare.

This style was in “VOGUE” in the 70′s and 80′s and has come back in to fashion since certain internet bloggers started to photograph street fashion a few years ago. The styling often associated with his photography is ethnic, tribal in wildly natural spaces. However, he can express himself in a more urban environment as he did recently in French VOGUE with Supermodel Anja Rubik.

Feurer, a highly renowned fashion photographer in the 70s and 80s, is Swiss born and studied photography in London. In the ’60s, he became a photographer for British Vogue, Vogue Paris, US Vogue, Marie Claire, French Elle… He photographed most of the major supermodels from Claudia Schiffer to Laetitia Casta with Yasmeen Ghauri, Christy Turlington… He launched Amber Valletta in French Elle Magazine.

Who do you dream to photograph?

- I had the chance to work with the most beautiful women in the world from Pat Cleveland, Christy Turlington to Stephanie Seymour… Kate Moss is the only one that I haven’t photographed. Excerpt of his interview in the Contributor Section of French VOGUE April 2011.

I would add “so Far”… , but I have the feeling that with his statement in the Contributor Section of the magazine, this omission will be repaired quickly enough.

In the early 60′s, he was assisted by French Photographer Patrick Demarchelier. Hans Feurer is also renowned for his collaboration with Kenzo for several of their Ad Campaigns in the 70′s and 80′s and was well known for his shooting of lingerie and swimsuits in a beach environment. In 1974, he directed the famous Pirelli Calendar.

Over the past few years Hans Feurer is back on track with magazines the likes of Numéro, I-D and VOGUE China, etc…

I really appreciate the fact that Emmanuelle Alt went for the original “Real Deal” photographer rather than one of the numerous copies amongst the younger fashion photographers emulating his and Eddy Kohli‘s style.

Meanwhile, Fei Fei and Arizona are ready to cause a five-alarm fire in Alberta Ferretti and Carolina Herrera, respectively; luckily there’s a response team in the neighborhood.

Karmen is every inch the fairy tale princess in Dior Haute Couture and though there is nary a prince in sight, she could easily settle for a Lt. Charming of the Household Regiment – D Squadron.

Fei Fei, however is ready to find herself a few good men– and at least one boyish girl — in Jenny Packham.

All of these gowns are sickeningly gorgeous, but which one would you prefer to see the future princess Naomi Campbell-walk down the aisle in?

I’m a traditionalist and have always wanted to get married in Dior Haute Couture…my bridesmaids, all drag queens in Chanel Couture, deathdropping down the aisle while Liz Taylor officiates in a Givenchy Couture catsuit. Sadly, that dream is now missing a Dame.

V Magazine’s Spring issue is also labeled the “Star Power Issue” and it makes sense that Britney is the cover girl. Her star power has been going strong for a decade. She makes it know that “The bitch is back and better than ever” as she is quoted on the tri-fold cover. Famed  photographer Mario Testino captures the Britney we all know and love in Britney Forever. If the shots are any inkling to what Femme Fatale is going t sound like then we are in for a treat.

Decked out in Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen and Haider Ackermann, the pop superstar poses for Mario Testino‘s lens for her cover and spread in Vogue‘s Power Issue.

I didn’t even think Kristen Stewart appealed to guys; here I thought they all wanted the Megan Foxes and Jessica Albas and other so-called actresses with that va-va-voom (read: slut) factor.

Well, at least Egotastic! and I can agree on one point regarding Ms. Stewart:

“She’s got the bird flipping angry cigarette smoking teen girl angst thing going on, and, let’s be real, that’s annoying.”

Anygay, his new film directed by Sofia Coppola, Somwehere, already won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, so I’ expecting to see a lot more of Mr. Dorff.

If I had a nickel for every single time I saw an editorial featuring a half-naked Kate moss clad in a shaggy fur coat, I would have bought a Chanel 2.55 handbag many moons ago. Needless to say, the concept of the shoot was slightly unoriginal. I understand that the concept for this particular photo set was not overly risky due to the fact that it is the cover editorial. In contrast, the other editorials featured, particularly “And God Created Woman” featuring Guinevere van Seenus (click here for photos), really drew me in. Superstar stylist, Lucinda Chambers, took many hints from the Prada, Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs A/W RTW shows through the means of sky-high beehives and headbands, past-the-knee wool skirts, ladylike corsets and 1950s inspired knits.

It has been a long time since the American Vogue made me go “WOW!”. It’s just not what it used to be! To top it, Halle is sporting an unflattering bob wig that is eerily reminiscent of Catherine Zeta Jones’ character in Chicago and a yawn-inducing wardrobe. I’m also really upset about the fact that the vast majority of Western fashion magazines feature celebrities on the cover simply to sell more issues. In particular, I was shocked to find that Halle Berry was going to be the cover girl for this issue. When was the last time she starred in a successful film or accomplished something great? Something tells me that Anna Wintour was looking for newsworthy buzz to surround Vogue (Halle Berry is the first African American woman to cover a Vogue September issue since 1989). All in all, the issue seems like it is going to be incredibly disappointing.

Things began to perk up when I flipped through the editorials of Vogue issues from further east. In this particular one, Constance is decked out in a killer mix of A/W 2010 RTW Hermes, Stella McCartney and Michael Kors (whose fur/camel pieces are my favorite items in all of the autumn/winter collections, I might add). You can never go wrong with Constance Jablonski! To me, she’s the epitome of fresh-faced beauty.

Here’s the cover we’ve all been waiting for, Halle Berry for US Vogue September 2010 issue.  Photographed by Mario Testino sporting an Anna Wintour styled bob, she is very glamboyant and I love it.

Some highlights from the September 2010 issue:

On her first interview in three years: 

“I was burned-out with having other people tell the story about me that
they wanted to tell. I told my publicist, ‘I’m not going to talk
anymore. I’m just going to live my life and be who I am.’”

On being asked to be on the cover of the September issue of Vogue: 

“What that means for a woman of color and what that means in the
fashion world, what that means to pop culture, there was no way I could
say, ‘No I’m not going to be on the biggest issue of the year.’”

On the “Oscar curse”:  

“Everybody talks about the
Oscar curse,” she says. “People win Oscars, and then it seems like they
fall off the planet. And that’s partly because a huge expectation walks
in the room and sits right down on top of your head. The moment I won
the Oscar, I felt the teardown the very next day. I thought, If I’m
going down, I’m going down taking chances and daring to risk. Hence…Catwoman.”

On her appreciation of the female body:  

“I love the naked female form…. I just feel like that’s the most empowered position you can be in.”
“That comes with age,” she says. “I’ve been slowly getting there.
If the world wouldn’t persecute me, I’d take nude pictures every day of
the week.”

On her relationship and breakup with Gabriel Aubry:

“It’s just that you realize you are not meant to go the
distance with everybody,” she says. “We were meant to bring this amazing
little person into the world. And I think that’s why we came together.
And because of that, we are going to be together forever, all three of
us. We are a family until we are not here anymore.”

“We have always been friends, we’re still friends, we love each
other very much, and we both share the love of our lives. And we are
both 100 percent committed to being the best parents we can be. And
while it was not a love connection for us, he was absolutely the right
person to have this child with because she is going to have an amazing
father. And that was really important to me. We’ll make sure we always
do what is right for her and put her first. And she will see as she
grows that we have a lot of love for each other.”

The 37-year-old actress posed for celebrity photog Mario Testino in her downtown Manhattan apartment.

“In my thirties, I feel like I really know who I am,” Gwyn shared. “I’ve made huge mistakes, I’ve learned from them…I feel much more comfortable in my skin now at this age than I did in my twenties.”

“They were fun,” she laughed, “but I wouldn’t go back there for anything!”
