Night to Day: Outfit for a Shame-Free Sunday

Edited by

The heat is rising, and so are the odds that you’re going to score tonight. You’re more of a Stride of Pride kinda gal, so you need a look that will hit it right at night, and then morph into perfect brunch regalia. Though this lady here is walking with her head held tall, her outfit still screams evening. The look I’ve compiled will get you thinking ahead, getting ready for the morning after. Just add luck.

Boutique Critique:: Court: Look 4

Edited by

If you saw Boutique Critique yesterday, this dress probably looks familiar to you. I’m wearing it again because its versatility begs to be worn on a recurring basic. Court founders and co-owners by Nicole Tondre and Lisa Fuller have a deft hand for clothing that makes sense, and it makes shopping the store a pleasure. These are the kinds of clothes you can really take your time with in the dressing room, and then spend years discovering their full capacity.

Boutique Critique:: Court: Look 1

Edited by

Boutique Critique was taken to Court. I can’t get into the specifics of the arrest, but I will fiercely deny any allegations that it involved Rebecca Black and a finely sharpened object last Friday… Well, the trial ensues upon the lacquered black floor of the Court room, with a film noir NY color palette and western-leaning-California vibes; highly suspect if you ask me. Reimagined t-shirts of many weights and structures intersperse silken black dresses, leathers, sweaters and the occasional floor length chiffon. Though the case appeared to be rather black and white, shades of gray and few jumping hues peeked through as evidence of the brighter buying choices. The jury has been out for the whole week, and they want more proof. Over the course of this week, come sit in on the trial, and help us reach a final verdict.

Guilty of lusting after that jacket? Mention FashionIndie and get 15% off everything on the Court room floor.

DESIGNER TO KNOW: Mary Meyer

Edited by

DESIGNER TO KNOW: Mary Meyer

Brooklyn-based designer Mary Meyer earned a degree in painting from the California College of the Arts, but also explored printmaking, weaving, dying, welding and woodwork. She held on to that love for working with textiles and started out custom-printing tees and dresses. Her clothing is now kinda-cute, kinda-streetwear, many with a giant single print. Her pieces, many of them oversized, have simple shapes that make for breezy summer wear.

I see a very mild Native American influence in the logos of Mary Meyer’s Spring 2009 collection, but the overall style of the line of harem pants and “biggie” tees is like a toned-down M.I.A. or Karen O.
