Following in the high-low footsteps of Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Matthew Williamson, Sonia Rykiel and most recently Lanvin‘s Alber Elbaz, Donatella will design a collection of both mens and womens clothing, in addition to home items — which I never even knew H&M had to begin with.

Described as a celebration of the Italian brand’s “vibrant heritage,” the collection will debut in 300 H&M stores on November 17th — and will be sold out later that day.

Bonus! Donatella — pulled, tucked and shellacked within inches of her life — discusses the collection with H&M’s Creative Advisor, Margareta van den Bosch.

The involvement of the four designers is part of an effort to bring more “fashion excitment” and younger customers to Macy’s Impulse department, which sells brands like BCBG Max Azria, Free People and Kensie.

Though Macy’s has yet to confirm the news — according to one of their sassy reps, “We have not announced the next designer and do not comment on speculation.” — Vallis’ one-off collection is expected to hit stores in November. [WWD]

Ye reportedly met with the head of the course, Professor Louise Wilson, to discuss his future matriculation before jetting off to Paris to hang with Anna Dello Russo and take in the shows at Fashion Week.

A source tells The Sun:

“Kanye spends a lot of time with fashion students and often hooks up with Central’s arty pupils when he is in London. The rapper already has work experience with Fendi and Louis Vuitton on his CV. Now that he has been interviewed the school’s board will have to decide whether to allow him to start the MA fashion course later this year.”

West’s few high-profile internships may not be enough to sway the notoriously intractable Wilson, as rumors abound hat ”he has been turned down for a place because his portfolio wasn’t up to standard.”

If Kanye does make it through the program, however, he will join CSM’s list of luminary alumni, which includes designers Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Gareth Pugh, Christopher Kane,  Zac Posen, Matthew Williamson and Hussein Chalayan.

Let’s just hope he was taking notes while sitting front row so he can get that portfolio up to snuff.

“I had a pretty free brief,” the designer told InStyle UK, “so I skimmed the archives from about 1950 forward and came across the hexagonal shapes of the clutches that I embossed on the leather and that are also a part of the kaleidoscope print of the fabric bags. I added my own heart print for synthesis.”

If I don’t get my hands on one of these, I’m going to cry. But they’re clearly going to be hella expensive. “Obviously the Bulgari customer, who is a woman who appreciates great quality, glamour and luxury,” Williamson said. “In a way, they are the same principals of my own customers, although I see my line as slightly more bohemian and more relaxed.”

Wearing a signature printed cocktail dress from his new AW range, Matthew commented that ‘Cat epitomises the laid back glamor that is quintessentially LA’

Swiftly onto New York, where he celebrated the launch of an exclusive kaftan created especially for premium vodka brand Belvedere with model of the campaign and NY DJ Leigh Lezark.

In celebration of Pink Grapefruit, the newest addition to the popular Belvedere Maceration range, the limited edition piece was ‘inspired by sultry summer evenings, and also by Leigh, who I choose as the campaign model because of her unique style which I have admired ever since we met’

Finally, he touched down in London where he spent the night with his original muse, Sienna Miller who wore a Gold foiled twist dress from the AW10 runway collection. Starting with an intimate party in his Mayfair flagship store, they were joined by the actresses’ sister Savannah. The trio partied on at Sketch where the pair were seen dancing on tables until the early hours.

The next night I went with a couple friends to the Belvedere party, which every model and their mother decided to attend. I should have known when I saw on the invite that the Misshapes were the DJs that it would be model central. But more importantly, vodka connoisseur, and one of my favorite memoirists, Chelsea Handler was there along with more former boss Ashley Olsen (no really I used to work for the Olsen twins, and no she didn’t remember me), Estelle, and Matthew Williamson. I really wanted to run up to Chelsea and tell her we’re secret BFFs, but fortunately I didn’t have that much vodka yet.

The good part is they gave us goodie bags with bottles of Belvedere so when we moseyed over to the Paper Planes party which was NOT open bar (tsk, tsk) we could use our bottles to doctor up some soda water on our own.

Nonetheless I loved the new issue. It was nice to see something super colorful and FUN for a change! I love fashion, but sometimes it just takes itself too seriously. But I digress. My new fav DJ Harley Viera Newton was shot by Fernando Lahoz and Walker Brockington for the issue. And she looks HOT!

If  any of you recall my post bashing the prices of the Comme des Garcons collaboration, this collab isn’t any different. Personally, I think the line is tacky, looks cheaply made and not a single piece deserves a price tag over $80. Though I’m all about the bold pantsuit for the spring, I simply can’t imagine that the Matthew Williamson for H&M one will fit properly or even be quality made. 

But for those of you rushing to the nearest H&M to snag the silk tunic you’re dying to toss over your bikini this summer, please, let us know, was it worth it?

Today has been a great day of blogging for me so far. I have been lucky enough to get to write about some of my favorite designers, and Ksubi is just another to add to the list. The latest Spring 2009 Collection is getting ready to hit stores, and I am very excited as usual. Correct me if I’m wrong but it has a bit of that Matthew Williamson vibe to it? Love the collection, hoping that I can get some cash in my pocket to buy a couple pieces.

Info on Matthew Williamson’s line for H&M has been emerging slowly over the months.

The collection debuts in stores April 23, and the latest updates are some sneak peeks at a few of the pieces, as well as a scan from Dutch ELLE.  There are several silk pieces — blue silk suit, tan silk jumpsuit, and a silk dress — along with a sequin minidress and a peacock-print dress.

The jumpsuit, above, follows Alexander McQueen’s McQ for Target capri jumpsuit, but is more safari/resort and less utilitarian than McQueen’s.  It’s more fashiony and less punk.

We’ll have to wait a bit to see how all the pieces fit — Williamson’s Solve Sundsbo-shot campaign (featuring Daria Werbowy) debuts in May.

I think usually we blame the celebs for their flubs — ill-fitting dress, bad makeup, etc. — but while the white top/khaki skirt combo is pretty drab, the jacket is clearly the worst part.  The fault may actually lie with the designer.
