BROADCAST: Shop Italy NYC is an Exciting Way to Explore Italian Fashion & Culture

What could be better than a month of celebrating Italian fashion design in New York City? Throw in food and wine, and you have yourself one of the greatest events of the summer. Presented by the Ministry of Economic Development and organized by the the Italian Trade Commission, Shop Italy NYC is a compilation of more than 35 influential Italian fashion, accessories and home décor retailers and Italian restaurants hosting a lively assortment of in-store events with special deals, promotions and activities for New York shoppers.

From June 15 to July 7, between 5 and 8 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday of each week, shoppers will experience everything the finest Italian retailers in Manhattan have to offer – June 15 and 16 in the Meatpacking District; June 22, 23, 29 and 30 on Madison Avenue; July 6 and 7 in SoHo.

Throughout the month-long Shop Italy NYC event, each Wednesday and Thursday night from 5 p.m. shoppers can begin their night at the VIP Hospitality Tents where they can enjoy complimentary Italian food and beverages from Pizza Roma and Serafina Restaurant. Shoppers will be able to pick up a map including information on participating retailer events in the area as well as a VIP Shopper Card, which will give them access to special promotions being offered. If you payed attention to the latest fall, spring and resort 2011 shows, you know patterns are making a comeback in a big way. Not one to lean towards minimalistic trends, I’m obviously ecstatic about the re-emergence of loud, in-your-face prints. Of all the designs to come down the runway, polka dots are my favorite. Ultra-classic and exceptionally versatile, polka dots can go from punk-rock to sweet 50s housewife to sexy pin-up girl with a quick cut and color change. British Elle made a good cover girl choice for the December issue. Kate Beckinsale looks great in a MaxMara tuxedo jacket and Louis Vuitton platform pumps. In the spread shot by photographer Matthias Vriens, she looks young and fashionable, even without any pants!
