Sarah Burton presented McQ, Alexander McQueen‘s diffusion line, during London Fashion Week. It was McQ’s first show since 2006 and featured 50s silhouettes, military influences and the requisite McQueen tartan print. Another gorgeous collection under Burton’s belt, no? Gasp away, kids.

Time is a-ticking closer to the one day a year when it is socially appropriate to stuff our faces and gorge our bodies with salty, buttery, meaty, buttery, delicious, salty, carbaceous foodstuffs. The spread is beautiful but the aftermath is less so; the words “bloated” and “food baby” come to mind. Which is why you need a specific kind of outfit to cope with such matters. There are three occasions I look forward to, in terms of getting dressed. First and foremost, is my annual gaycation to Provincetown, during which the booty shorts cum denim panties too risqué for even Chelsea and the sequined leggings too “say-something” for a work look are paraded about on a daily basis. More recently, I’ve gotten into Halloween just for another excuse to wear a heel. And then of course, there is Fashion Week. It’s a battlefield out there; survival of the chicest. The ante has been further upped by the explosion of photoseekers running around, snapping pics of the best-dressed stomping in and out of shows. Alexander McQueen left behind two unseen collections: one to be shown at Paris Fashion Week next week and one that was supposed to be presented on the day of his death announcement at Milk Studios in NYC, for his secondary line McQ. Here is the first unseen collection for men.
