With New York Fashion Week finally winding down, I say goodbye to my days and nights of standing on impossibly long lines and say hello to my bed where I will stay for the remainder of my life and/or weekend. Summer may be over, but you don’t have to wait until next year to stuff your face with fried dough covered in powdered sugar. Not only is the 85th Annual Feast of San Gennaro running through September 25, contemporary American restaurant Abe & Arthur’s has festival food on the everyday menu. Called The Carnival for Two, this delectable plate of fried sweets by pastry chef Gustavo Tzoc comes with warm ricotta donuts & cinnamon funnel cake. Yeah our mouths are watering too.

#NYFW Cheat Sheet: Buckler Spring 2012

Andrew Buckler took his show to the street (literally) for the second season in a row. For and hour a block of the meatpacking district was sectioned off for a group of dandy gentleman and random passerbys to enjoy the runway presentation. Spring knits, nautical stripes, and varsity jackets were given the downtown treatment. Drop crotches, snoods, and distressed denim reminded everyone of the label’s signature style.

New York City is all about a line and/or a cover. I refuse to do either, but to get into the most exclusive places in and around the city you have to know the right person, have to wear the right clothes and – let’s be real – not being a minority never hurt anyone. The New York Times asked some arbiters of nightlife what to wear if you want to stand a chance of getting past the velvet rope.
