SHOE ENVY: Melissa Peace Platform Wedge

Edited by

Now that the holiday season is coming to a close and 2012 is around the corner, we (or at least I) am ready for this winter business to be over and summer to hurry up and get on with it already. These bright and cheerful Melissa Peace Platform Wedges aren’t helping the cold weather cause, featuring bright and cheerful colors and fabrics. Little rubber tassels hang from the t-strap while you walk on 5 inches below.

SHOE ENVY: Feeling a Kinky Heel

Edited by

With a hint of John Fluevog-ness and an air of jellies, these high kicks caught my eye with a wacky shape. This season, a kink in the heel will be a major head turner and compliment garner. How funky is your platform? That is the question.

And at this price, there’s little question that they’ll be comin’ home with me.

Melissa Spring 2011 ‘Amazonista’ Collection

Melissa previews new designs and collabs, for their Spring/Summer “Amazonista” collection. The shoe highlighted above is the “Patchuli” wedge- a continuation of Melissa x Vivienne Westwood’s footwear line and the highest heel yet for Melissa. I love their introduction of heart-adorned flip flops! Comfy yet cute. Check out the collection below.

There is also buzz circulating about “Mel’ a lower priced line that will range between $25 and $46.

Lorenzo Martone Styles for Nylon

Lorenzo recently worked on the Melissa shoes shoot for Nylon’s September issue. “Directing was unusual for me–at Chandelier I focus on strategy for brands, but with Melissa I had the freedom to create the story with the stylist and the photographer, it was very cool!”

I HATE THIS: Melissa Shoes Jelly Sandals

Edited by

I HATE THIS: Melissa Shoes Jelly Sandals

Everything about these shoes is creepy: the way they are barely visible, the discomfort in my mind when I imagine the way jelly spider webs must feel on your feet and the fact that someone is actually trying to sell them for $79. I’m trying to imagine the intended time for these shoes to be worn; not the beach because sand will totally get caught in them, not the rain because your feet will totally get wet, and not a long walk because they are rubber! Pointless!
