Melissa Shoes to Open Store in SoHo NYC

By February 2011, Soho NYC will be the home of Brazilian brand Melissa . The store is rumored to be opening on Greene between Prince and Spring early next spring, according to Treehugger.

COLLB: Melissa Shoes and CFDA

Environmentally conscious Brazilian footwear label Melissa, who has recently collaborated with Jean Paul Gaultier and Vivienne Westwood, is doing a collaboration with the CFDA.

“Melissa has mostly collaborated with international designers and artists,” CFDA executive director Steven Kolb told WWD. “They have been really amazing, but we think adding an American voice with CFDA now involved will push Melissa to new creative heights.”

Everything about these shoes is creepy: the way they are barely visible, the discomfort in my mind when I imagine the way jelly spider webs must feel on your feet and the fact that someone is actually trying to sell them for $79. I’m trying to imagine the intended time for these shoes to be worn; not the beach because sand will totally get caught in them, not the rain because your feet will totally get wet, and not a long walk because they are rubber! Pointless!
