There’s a rebel with a cause out in Williamsburg. The one I’m referring to is David Gensler, designer of Serum Versus Venom. With 100% of production happening in his own facility in-house, he has the resources and the drive to buck the fashion system. SVSV is created and marketed at its own pace (read, efficient), piece by piece, and the team believes “the existing industry calendar is only helping to perpetuate a archaic system which has no place in the modern, digital age.” They have no desire to enter the mass market, for that which is new will not stay that way very long. A responsible system of production involves no waste and no surplus, which is why they use interesting vintage textiles that stand the test of time. See the super innovative collection here.

This Miami native, FIT trained, NYC based designer Miguel Antoinne is updating the classics. He’s turning the men’s suit up with color blocked shirts, textured suits and a general air of refined irreverence. His women are powerful; long proportions drive the eye in lustrous textures. He has everything produced right here in NYC, and prides himself on searching out the finest materials in the world. He’s an exciting young designer, and Spring 2012 shows his staying power.

Through deft tailoring, intricate handmade prints and a key focus on Giacomo Balla’s ‘Futurist Manifesto of Men’s Clothing’, Yasmin Bawa is seeking to find and create balance in menswear. Her printing techniques are new to the industry; she uses light sensitive emulsions to expose her prints directly onto the fabrics. Yasmin Bawa‘s Autumn 2011 collection entitled “He Shall Be a Peacock” takes the stance that men shouldn’t restrain from color, from new cuts on beautiful patterns. In her Spring 2012 collection, “he didn’t care and neither did she…” she dips a toe in womenswear, taking her prints to more feminine silhouettes, but with a great irreverent sense of humor. See the London-based designer’s work here.

Watching the hands of a clock turn on your wrist is pretty boring. How boring do you think it would be if you could see every internal function work while wearing a super stylish and exclusive timepiece. Wonder no further because we now present the 2LMX.
