Abbey Lee Kershaw - member of Our Mountain Kershaw plays tambourine in Our Mountain and allegedly also contributes keys and vocals. The band released theirdebut single "Wooden Hearts" in 2011 and appeared in Pierre Balmain's spring 2012 fashion film directed by Inez and Vinoodh.

Agyness Deyn - featured on "Who" by Five O'Clock Heroes The single wasn't very well received, to say the least -- though NME said it succinctly enough: "she sings on this and it’s shit." -- and peaked at #109 on the UK charts. But Deyn made somewhat of a comeback, providing the opening monologue to Rihanna's "We Found Love" video.

Baptiste Giabiconi - "One Night in Paradise" (2012) I guess we can consider Baptiste's brief dalliance with Katy Perry as a fact-finding mission as the male super is determined to get his music career off the ground. But while the video for the midtempo ballad "One Night in Paradise" -- off his debut album Oxygen -- has over 2 million views, it lacks the pizzazz of his magnum opus, "Showtime."

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy - Quelqu'un m'a dit (Someone Told Me) (2003) Before she became the First Lady of France, but after she had hung up her runway heels for good, Carla Bruni released Quelqu'un m'a dit. A huge hit in France where it debuted at number one and spent 37 non-consecutive weeks on the charts, "Le plus beau du quartier" was used in a 2006 H&M commercial and the title track appears on the soundtrack of (500) Days of Summer.

Karen Elson - The Ghost Who Walks (2010) Aside from having married -- and divorcing -- rock royalty in the form of Jack White, Elson has her own musical credentials on which to stand. A founding member of New York-based cabaret act The Citizen's Band, Elson released her White-produced solo album in 2010, The Ghost Who Walks, to positive reviews. The album's title track was released as a single and the accompanying video was also directed by White.

Milla Jovovich - The Divine Comedy (1994) Though best known today as an "actress," Jovovich was already a model veteran when she released her critically-acclaimed debut album in 1994. It didn't do so well commercially, but Jovovich continues to contribute songs to the soundtracks of her own films as well as others, such as 2003's Underworld.

Naomi Campbell - babywoman (1994) Naomi made her music video debut in 1978 when she appeared in the clip for Bob Marley's "Is This Love." She went on to appear in videos for Culture Club, Madonna, Michael Jackson and most famously George Michael. So naturally she decided to try her hand at a music career of her own with the critical and commercial failure, the horribly-titled babywoman. Peaking at #75 in her native UK, the album was a hit in Japan and went on to sell a million copies worldwide, producing the single and video "Love and Tears."

Nick Kamen - "Each Time You Break My Heart" (1986) Famous for stripping down to his undies in a classic Levi's ad in 1985, Kamen had a top 5 UK hit with "Each Time You Break My Heart," written and produced by Madonna and her frequent collaborator Stephen Bray. I'm sure the Material Girl's decision to get involved had nothing to do with the undies. What was inside of them, however...

Twiggy Twiggy has been steadily releasing albums since the 70s after she officially retired from modeling following an iconic four-year run. She released her latest album, Romantically Yours in 2011, a collection of her favorite tunes and standards such as "My Funny Valentine" and "Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered."

Tyra Banks - "Shake Ya Body" (2004) Banks -- a jill of many trades and a Harvard grad to boot -- couldn't quite master popstardom, though she tried her damndest with the Beyoncé-aping "Shake Ya Body." She also recorded a single with Kobe Bryant, "K.O.B.E.," which besides being an embarrassment for everyone involved, proved that not even two superstars can make one serviceable hit.

"Nasty" (1986) When she first declared Control in 1986 -- control of what she says, control of what she does -- Janet was only 19 and her conservative style may have belied her years. But make no mistake, she wasn't a prude. She and her gal pals -- including a young Paula Abdul -- just wanted some goddamned respect.

"When I Think of You" (1986) The hair got bigger and the outfits got wilder with Jackson's first #1 hit, though at the time Janet was probably hanging her head if not in sartorial shame, then from the sheer weight of all that teased out hair.

"Rhythm Nation" (1989) Janet got serious and soldierly with 1989's Rhythm Nation 1814, her blockbuster album that spawned a record 7 top 5 hits. Befitting the theme of a unified nation under the groove, Janet brought out the epaulets, unfrizzed the hair and pulled that pony through her baseball cap for some dance-army realness.

"Love Will Never Do (Without You)" (1990) Janet reinvented herself as a sex symbol thanks to famed fashion photographer Herb Ritts. With a brown wig in a classic updo, a black halter top and ripped blue jeans, Ms. Jackson kept it beautifully simple and opened the 90s on a sexy but chic high note.

"If" (1993) Once Janet flashed her midriff there was no going back. As possessor of the most famous bellybutton of the 90s, Janet wore a strikingly similar outfit in "That's the Way Love Goes," which features a young Jennifer Lopez before she began her long love affair with eyebrow contouring. This video is notable, of course, for what is hands down the greatest dance break of all time.

"You Want This" (1994) After gallivanting about with that hoodlum Tupac Shakur in 1993's Poetic Justice, Janet got in touch with her inner Banjee girl -- donning dookie braids, gold hoops and a whole lot of attitude.

"Scream" (1995) Though she was probably wearing less foundation than big brother Michael -- may he rest -- Janet's gorgeous smokey eye (courtesy of legendary makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin -- may he rest) steals the $7 million show. That's right this video cost $7 million, making "Scream" the most expensive music video to date. And for good reason, this was the first and only time the brother and sister have shared screen time. Sidenote, MJ was so impressed with Aucoin's work the King of Pop wanted him to be his full-time make up artist, but perhaps noting how much time that would actually entail, Aucoin declined.

"Got 'til It's Gone" (1997) Almost 15 years before Rihanna saw red, Janet rocked the flaming fro for her The Velvet Rope album. Featuring supermodel Alek Wek, "Got 'til It's Gone" channels 70s-era South Africa during apartheid with Janet presiding as a funky-haired lounge singer to a club of stylish folks dressed in a mix of tribal prints and vintage threads.

"I Get Lonely" (1998) Janet had explored masculine dressing in 1989's "Alright" in which she donned a zoot suit and hoofed it with Cab Calloway, but here she successfully plays with both the masculine and feminine...right before tearing off her tie and sequined corset and ripping her shirt open to bare her famous breasts in the video's thrilling conclusion.

"What's It Gonna Be?!" (1999) Another high-priced, futuristic video, this time Janet joined Busta Rhymes for her most avant garde look to date: we're talking leather from head to toe, laced-up thigh-high boots, a towering crown of weave, an impossibly long train, foot-long eyelashes, a black lip and the real kicker -- nails pierced with gold rings. Even Lady Gaga would have to raise her paws in respect.

"Doesn't Really Matter" (2000) Janet commits wholly to the millennial J-Pop look with wide-legged jeans you could smuggle a family of skateboarders in, bright colors galore and an architectural wedge or two as she and her similarly-attired girls dance it out on a gyroscope.

"Make Me" (2009) The style in this video sort of takes all of Janet's past hits and squeezes them all together: a fedora à la "I Get Lonely"; a kimono top that wouldn't be out of place in "Doesn't Really Matter"; however Janet left the 80s shoulder pads at home in favor of a sleek metallic bold shoulder -- the only shoulder worth wearing. Her 19th and so far last #1 dance hit, my fingers are crossed we have more Janet Jackson music and visuals to make us move in the coming future.

Hilfiger will help guide each contestant to shape and define their personal styles and images because as we all know, video killed the radio star.

“If you look at what makes a star, it’s not only musical talent, it’s the complete package,” Hilfiger told WWD. “And that includes image. If you look at great superstars from Michael Jackson to Madonna and Lady Gaga and Katy Perry [Ed. note: no] today, they each have a unique style and that adds to their persona. It’s the icing on the cake.”

While the designer has outfitted many a star over the years, he won’t be confining himself to “one brand,” i.e. his own. But if a Hilfiger dress or slack makes it on the air a few times a week — so what, who cares? Sure as shootin’ not Idol, which wouldn’t mind if they started a few trends that didn’t end in yet another singing reality competition show.

First of all, I was barely aware that American Idol was still on since it ceased to exist in my mind as anything of note when future Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson was kicked off 40 years ago — but apparently it’s the number one show in America.

Re-evaluate your priorities, America.

Second, isn’t Jennifer Lopez example enough of an “image expert” since she’s built a career on a series of looks and showstopping gowns, punctuated with the occasional romantic comedy or club banger. What can Tommy Hilfiger possibly show these contestants that J. Lo hasn’t taught, like, everyone since Selena?

As for the house itself, no price is listed, but other homes in the area run about $18 mil and up. With six bedrooms, ten fireplaces, a movie theater, wine cellar, fitness center and a medication room — which is exactly what it sounds like — the manse will no doubt fetch a pretty penny.

That is, unless the ghost of Michael Jackson is still moonwalking about the grounds. Imagine moving in and tucking yourself in for a good night’s sleep, when Vincent Price starts chattering on about the “funk of forty thousand years” and a piercing “tee-hee” echoes down the hall. In the morning, you wake up thinking it was all just your imagination but — what’s that shining underneath the duvet cover? A single sequined glove.

Cue dance break . Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” manages to trump the epic “Bad Romance” for grandeur and opulence and why shouldn’t it?: this is her “Thriller.”

From the cinematic opening, random voiceover, elaborate dance sequence (a prerequisite in any bombastic pop video), thick ghoulish make-up and the freeze frame zombie smirk at the end, this is Gaga’s homage to her little Monsters and to the King of the Monsters, Michael Jackson. The Lady even strolls out, illuminating the sidewalk à la “Billie Jean.”

The first two minutes are dedicated to the creation myth, a Technicolor mash-up of Hinduism, Lisa Frank and science fiction geekery. Gags is Mom, giving infinite birth to her Monsters, creating a Utopian society. But Good cannot exist without Evil and to protect her Paradise, Mother Monster births Evil, that hottie with the face tattoo business, by splitting herself in two (I’m guessing).

Then the little Monsters rejoice, celebrating their innate freakishness until Mother Monster takes off on her spirit animal. A unicorn. Encased within a pink triangle.

I mean, if you weren’t gay before watching this video, you will be afterwards.

Ms. Germanotta has returned in top form, both physically (her body is disgusting, in a good way) and artistically. The song is what it is, a cheap, funny dance-pop song with anthemic aspirations, but as usual, the video elevates the music into something far more potent and memorable. This is why Lady Gaga is amazing; she’s more than a pop star, she’s a revolution.

If your looking for unique cocktail dresses and gowns, you’ll find yourself in one next fall with GUiSHEM’s collection. The GUiSHEM Fall 2011 garments were structured and form-fitting, hugging the female figure just right. Patterns focused on the torso and hips by making exaggerated cross patterns to bring the eye right towards the curves of a woman’s body. These cross patterns were detailed, made of leather and added hints of color like purple and gold to mostly black dresses. Not only were the dresses structured, but the shoes were also. Chunky heels were more like blocks, wedge heels that were missing the back of the heel. They reminded me of Balenciaga’s Fall 2010 lego-like colorful shoes.

GUiSHEM’s fall collection is nothing but fashion-forward. When walking into the presentation, 80s Michael Jackson was blasting and you got a feel for 80s punk goth, but it goes way beyond that. It’s sort of futuristic in a science fiction type of way. These pieces are for bold ladies that aren’t intimidated to look fashion-forward and are willing to take a leap.

This episode will be Glee’s most expensive ever and probably one of the most expensive in television history. The storyline will focus on the local football championship and the Cheerios cheerleading regionals. I hope this means Sue Sylvester‘s doing Vincent Price’s rap then:

And if that isn’t enough news to bejewel your cape,  there’s a tribute episode to Dame  Elton John in the works. Give me a little “Benny and the Jets” mixed with a little “Circle of Life” and I’ll be happy.

What a beautiful Sunday arvo to head down to Brisbane’s superclub Cloudland to hear De La Soul’s Maseo play records. We arrived around 2.30 pm to catch the last hour of Gavin Boyd’s set, amazed to be hearing classic early 90s hip hop in such a swish open-air club. It gave us goosebumps- in a good way!

Then just as we finished scoffing our tasty duck springrolls Cloudland serves good value yummy tapas Maseo jumped on the 1s and 2s. It was still early in the day and the crowd wasn’t pissy enough to start a dance-off which clearly affected Maseo so he brought out the big guns. A Michael Jackson medley which of course got the mainly 30-something, mainly upper-class into it….I gots nothing against the King of Pop but after 3 or 4 songs I was craving some good ol’ hip hop again. If only me and Lani had boogied a lil’ earlier he might have kept the hip hop vibe alive. Then he played a few Prince tracks in a row, then Madonna, Rick James, some De La breaks like Hall & Oats and some 80s electro funk classics like ‘White Horse’.

By 5pm the crowd was gaining momentum but I was disturbed when Maseo took us on the most up-beat of his ‘journey’, with some fucked up dance music that I guess he knew most of the pinger poppin, white kids could relate to. Ugh.

Was enjoying his commentary on the mic with remarks like “yall remind me of Miami” or “I feel like I’m playing at someone’s Summer barbeque”. Yep, that’s Brisbane for you! If Sydney is NYC and Melbourne is Frisco, Brizzie is Miami!? Haha. Yall just jealous of our weather! You all know I’m strictly a NY state of mind. Haha.

Then he finally played what we were all waiting for, some classic De La off 3 feet high and rising and of course their big aussie album De La Soul… is dead.
He was enjoying himself so much he wouldn’t get off the decks and was still rockin’ the crowd when I left at half 6.

What a beautiful venue and an enjoyable afternoon had by all- with free entry and cool staff! Someone should start up a funk/ hip hop Sunday sesh on the regular now it’s Spring -for us cats who don’t partake in dance music. I’ll put my hand up to play!

It’s good to see someone paying attention to Michael’s style, especially since for my generation he is mostly remembered as a child molester. Enjoy band jackets, sequin loves, white socks and studded loafers in all their glory.

I think we all knew that Michael Jackson on the September issue of Vanity Fair was inevitable. There is no arguing he deserves this cover, but I’m thrilled Farrah is there too! Her death may have been mostly over shadowed by the King of Pops, but those days are over thanks to Vanity Fair.

Dear Mr. Wang,

I would like to bring to your attention this little thing called “The Recession.” I know this may come as a shock to you, but people have taken pay-cuts or altogether lost their jobs, putting many in financial crisis and allowing less disposable income for frivolous spending. That being said, I would really like to know your rationale behind pricing your 75% rayon, 25% spandex ribbed jersey biker shorts at a nauseating $395. I hope you are aware that one could achieve the same look by picking up some sort of athletic compression shorts at a nearby sporting goods store for a mere $20. Fashionistas on a major budget could even take a pair of leggings and cut them to the desired length, saving them upwards of $400.

As always, your trends never cease to amaze me and your prices never cease to make me cringe. Please, if you are going to charge so much for such a simple garment, at least construct them from fine leather or intertwine a follicle of Michael Jackson’s hair or something.

Um, so, I decided to design a Michael Jackson tribute tee. Let the hate mail commence…

Was it Michael Jackson or should we aim for someone a little more Madonna? Reply with your answers, the best will be featured.

1. Michael Jackson: Even more so now, MJ was always known for his crazy fashion sense, and sparked trends all around the world, from military blazers to one glove.

2. Buddy Holly: Huge among the hip crowd right now, 50s and ‘nerdy’ styles are back, or never really left. Ray Bans and skinny ties, win.

3. David Bowie: Glam rockers unite for the man in the makeup.

4. Justin Timberlake: After he trimmed his curls, JT is almost always spotted in a dress vest and tie, keeping it casual with jeans but still looking undoubtably cool.

5. The Beatles: They not only influenced millions with their music, but also with their collared shirts and circle-shaped glasses.

6. Kriss Kross: I have no idea which marketing exec. told these kids to put their clothes on backwards (although I’m sure they probably came up with the idea themselves), but this was HUGE (just as huge as their clothes were on them…) 

7. Sid Vicious: Ah Sid and Nancy, every punk’s idol. (minus swastika shirts)

8. Andre 3000: My favorite style ever, Andre 3000 is always dressed to kill.

9. Run DMC: You can still find those chains in St. Marks. Adidas classics? Nice.

10. Pete Doherty: Aside from the drugs, it’s now cool to look like a homeless drug addict, apparently.

Seems like the Parisians are also feeling the loss. Paul Smith danced down the catwalk to Thriller yesterday as a little tribute to Michael Jackson. Expect much, much more of this and a couple of Michael Jackson “inspired” fashion collections to be hitting to runway hags everywhere come next season.

My mom called me this morning cause she was pissed that I’m such a jaded jerk that I would dishonor the legacy that was Michael Jackson by mentioning the fact that he raped children. I’m not someone that’s often affected by the media, someone who believes everything he reads, someone who would assume a kid is always telling the truth. I understand that most of the cases against him were speculation, that he was never found guilty of his crimes, but I find it strange that someone would not imagine that there was some level of truth to the accusations.

This was a man who was okay with children sharing his bed, someone who felt there was nothing wrong with having “adult” relationships with children, someone who created a massive amusement park at his home to welcome all the children in, a person who would pay parents off to keep things quite, a person who hired OJ Simpsons lawyer and needed over a million dollars in legal fees just to get acquitted, someone who couldn’t explain why a child could possibly identify the exact shape, curvature and mole placement of his private parts. Yeah, let’s all praise the great performer, the great musician, the great molester.

Some say it’s about the music, about the videos, about the “art”. Please. He came out with some great hits. Big flipping deal!!! The dude was a complete nutcase who had physically destroyed his face in some ill conceived attempt to reach perfection. With no grasp of his falling celebrity he dangled his baby from windows, met the brink of bankruptsy, and kept his own kids in masks to protect them from the outside world. He was our shared freakshow and we loved him for it, so much so that we’re all ready to forget the negatives and embrace the positive, 20 fairly danceable songs and a legacy of creapyness.

I’m just waiting for the paternity test at this point, let’s prove he’s not the father and get those kids as far away as possible from the media circus that will most likely be their lives if someone doesn’t step in. I also feel horible for the Jackson family as I’m sure this is impacting them greatly. If you’re a Jackson fan, don’t take this personal, as I myself am also a fan of his music, I own all the music, can moonwalk and I’ve seen Thriller more times than I can remember, of course him as a person is a completely different story and I think it’s important not to fall into the hype as I’m sure we’ve all only seen just the tip of the iceberg of illegal activities this god of men has been involved with. Anyways those are my thoughts on this whole thing, I’m sure most of you disagree, but hell, I’d be too.

I thought Farrah Fawcett would be the only one today (I hoped), but news just came in that Michael Jackson, The King of Pop, known for his catchy music, crazy fashion sense, and overly-plastic face, passed away after going into cardiac arrest in his home.  He was 50.  People are in an uproar over the surprising death, and the LA Times quoted a young New Yorker saying, 

“It’s like when Kennedy was assassinated. I will always remember being in Times Square when Michael Jackson died.”

Michael Jackson was indeed a legend, even if you didn’t like his music, you most likely knew all of the words to every song, remember when he wore the white glove, and were fully aware of his numerous scandals.  This popstar will surely be missed.

Rihanna bears a frighteningly striking resemblance to the King of Pop, circa 1989 while out shopping in L.A. recently. I’m pretty much on the fence when it comes to Rhi’s fashion choices, but jumping on the Balmain jacket bandwagon may not have been a wise decision. Not only is the drum major look a bit severe for daytime (not to mention those hideous shoulder pads), but with the hair and the shades, all she’s missing is a glittery glove and a monkey named Bubbles.

Next month Julien’s will auction off Michael Jackson’s stuff, including a vast collection of his clothes dating from the eighties onward. Wonder if every purchase includes a free dry cleaning. Jesus Juice can be so hard to remove from sequined leather chaps.

Which MJ era is he thinking about?

You might have to wait an entire year for this bad boy, but damn is it worth it. Michael Jackson will be auctioning off his white glove on TV and live in person at the Auction Network. Rumor has it that a portion will go to charity, but the rest will go to another new nose. If I had this I would wear it everyday and respond to every question with a crotch grab and quick “Ow!”. Doesn’t Mikey know that people don’t have any money right now? Not a good time to sell!

In honor of Halloween and the 25th anniversary of Michael Jackson’s record-breaking Thriller album, hundreds of fans turned up at Madame Tussauds in Times Square to attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most people doing the Thriller dance at the same time.

All decked out in ghoulish costumes, participants received lessons on how to do the Thriller dance, got a zombie makeover, and were photographed with Madame Tussauds’ Michael Jackson wax figure.

So sad we missed it…

Selectism recently posted an article on Kanye West and how his desire to be a pop star has resulted in him changing his music. In the article it is noted that Kanye wants to be talked about in the same ranks as Michael Jackson, Madonna and other big name pop stars, and a key to their success is the reinvention of their music. Where I do agree with that concept to a certain degree, there are still many other factors that have affected their success. Along with a reinvention of their music comes a reinvention of their style as well. Despite the whole skin color issue, Michael Jackson’s style varied as he moved through his career and the same is happening for Mr. West as well (not the skin color). Kanye has evolved from a Polo sponsored casual kid, to a classy money flaunting man, to the super trendy hip hopper, and now to the designer draped uber trendy performer. Especially with his recent work with Louis Vuitton, Kanye has transformed into the luxury brand performer, right down to his latest album which features West as a singer not a rapper. The constant change is what keep people interested in Kanye, because if it wasn’t about what he’s going to do next, well then I guess he’d be just as washed up as 50 Cent.

In anticipation for the release of Forgetting Sarah Marshall on DVD, I decided to remind everyone of how good Mila Kunis looks. She must be pulling in a lot of dough because she is looking much better than she used to, and it is apparent she realised that looking like a hippie on That 70′s Show isn’t in style and got herself a stylist. From bell bottoms to Stella McCartney, Mila has stepped her game up. Be sure to check out Forgetting Sarah Marshall if you haven’t already, I nearly peed my pants it was so funny. However, I can hear Mila talk without picturing Meg Griffin from Family Guy, and she needs to break up with that Michael Jackson fondling Mccauley Culkin.

A newly trim (how does she keep doing that) Janet Jackson revealed her lingerie line, Pleasure Principle.  Working with Bruno Schiavi, and Aussie designer whose better known for his Dr.90210 collection, Janet’s line is an 18-piece lingerie set crafted from satin and lace.

What’s weird about his whole thing is how long it took Jackson to come out with a clothing line. Every celebrity under the sun is pushing something, so I guess it was only a matter of time before shit out a fashion line. Hopefully, this line will be a better Thriller than what we’re expecting out of her brother Michael when he collaborates with Ed Hardy/Von Dutch designer Christian Audigier on his supposed collection.

So weigh in indies. Do you care about a Janet Jackson lingerie collection or do all these Jackson collaborations just make you wanna Scream?

Michael “Jesus Juice” Jackson, 49, plans to launch a fashion line with Ed Hardy designer Christian Audigier

“It’s still in the developing stages, but it’s going to be big,” an insider tells Life & Style. “This will be a major comeback for Michael. He’s dedicating a lot of his time and money to this venture.”

This is by far the most depressing news ever. Christian has been trying to work on  a line with a failed pop artist for some time (he was last seen courting Britney Spears).  Guess he finally got one desperate enough.

Expect the line to include face masks for children and cover up for hiding identifying marks on your penis.
