"Work It Out" (2002) Beyoncé's love for the 70s and giant hair was evident from her first single and video as a solo artist. Channeling her Foxy Cleopatra character from that Citizen Kane of shitty sequels, Austin Powers in Goldmember, Bey sported a sequined shift and her never-again-seen afro.

"Crazy in Love" (2003) Bey announced her arrival to superstardom with "Crazy in Love"'s thunderous horns and her birth as a fashion icon with a series of outfits -- such as the always appropriate fur coat and a bikini -- as well as some serious posing.

"Me, Myself and I" (2004) Could always use more Bey in a bob.

"Naughty Girl" (2004) The song itself features an interpolation of Donna Summer's "Love to Love You Baby" and combined with a very Diana-esque fur shawl and a little nod to Bob Fosse's choreography -- something she would mine time and time again -- Beyoncé was getting in touch with her inner Studio 54 ...by way of the Harlem Renaissance.

"Upgrade U" (2007) While talking a mean fashion game, Bey dons an even meaner braid.

"Kitty Kat" (2007) Though the video for "Kitty Kat" was only a minute long and served really as an intro to "Green Light," how the hell can we not talk about this makeup? Following the theme of the song, Beyoncé also wears a leopard-print catsuit. It's called commitment.

"Get Me Bodied" (2007) An homage to Bob Fosse's Sweet Charity, Bey sports another memorable pony and is joined by former Destiny's Children Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland -- and -- beginning to step out of her sister's ginormous shadow -- Solange as they enter a party the only way acceptable: like a bunch of drag queens.

"Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It" (2008) The leotard worn 'round the world. Who knew such a simple concept would be the watershed moment in Beyoncé's career? Inspired once again by Fosse -- this time "Mexican Breakfast" -- but with the added touch of a Lorraine Schwartz robotic titanium glove. If Gwen Verdon had had that...let's just say Liza wouldn't be alive today.

"Diva" (2008) Just in case there were any lingering doubts, Beyoncé is a fucking diva. But for anyone questioning her female hustler status, Bey pulled some diva antics like blowing up a car of mannequins and wearing the hell out of some Gareth Pugh and vintage Thierry Mugler. Sasha Fierce was not playing around.

"Video Phone" (2009) By this point in her career, Bey had really stepped up her sartorial game, eschewing mom Tina Knowles' House of Dereon creations for haute couture. And I think we all know fellow pop queen Lady Gaga may have had a little something to do with that. The two paired up for "Video Phone" then got all Thelma & Louise for Gaga's similarly-titled "Telephone."

"Why Don't You Love Me" (2010) Betty Page met Betty Draper in the martini-swilling, chain-smoking, mascara-running incarnation of B.B. Homemaker. Foxy Cleopatra she certainly is not. Shazam!

"Run the World (Girls)" (2011) Beyoncé's style evolution pretty much peaked when she decided to wear Givenchy Haute Couture while brandishing two jackals on a leash. You don't go up from there, I'm sorry. Alexander McQueen dress and thigh-high boots, a Giuseppe Zanotti harness, an incredible disco-ball of a Gareth Pugh dress and heels, a Jean Paul Gaultier couture gown, an Emilio Pucci dress. In Beyonce's post-Apocalyptic world, haute couture is the only armor you'll need.

Loser: Justin Timberlake JT's cover with Mila might have been a hit for Elle, but his W cover with Amanda Seyfried was the mag's 2nd worst seller, while his solo cover for Esquire in October was its worst seller of the year.

Winner: Jennifer Aniston Alleged sexiest woman of all time, Aniston was also Marie Claire's top seller of the year and her November Elle is on track to be one of its biggest hits.

Loser: Michelle Williams The My Week with Marilyn star's Vogue cover and her Marie Claire cover were each mag's second and third worst-performing covers, respectively.

Winner: Kim Kardashian Kim delivered Glamour's bestseller of the year with her February cover, but a lot happened between then and now...

Loser: The Kardashians While Kim's Harper's Bazaar, Self and Lucky covers were mild hits, the January 2012 issue of Glamour featuring sisters Khloe and Kourtney is on track to bomb Bieber-style.

1. Asymmetrical chignon Blow-dry hair out with large round brush to create a soft and loose texture. Use a ponytail holder and pull hair back into a low ponytail on the side of the nape of the neck. Take a tail comb and tease the ponytail lightly from root to end to create a messy, loose texture. Using a Mason Pearson brush, brush the top of the pony to smooth out the hair, twist it into a chignon, and secure with bobby pins. This is a quick and easy way to go from the office to a holiday party.

2. Very slick high ponytail Blow hair out smooth and straight. Take a ponytail holder and a Mason Pearson brush and flip hair upside down. Holding your head upside down, brush the hair straight into a high ponytail. Secure with the ponytail holder. Spray any loose ends with a light hairspray to get rid of the fly-aways. To hide the ponytail holder, take a piece of hair from underneath of the ponytail and wrap it around the elastic. Secure with a bobby pin underneath. This will complete the look. It's very easy to accomplish and looks great with any outfit.

3. Disheveled French twist Blow hair out straight. Spray the roots with a lightweight hairspray. Take a tail comb and divide hair into one-inch sections. Tease at the root throughout to create lift. Using your fingers, break up the hair to create a disheveled look. Pull the hair back and twist it into a French twist. Secure with long, straight pins. This look is supposed to be worn loose, and not too structured. Works great with any hair type or any length of hair.

4. The Brigitte Bardot This is a very sexy look. Spray hair with lightweight hairspray. Take 1-inch sections throughout the whole head and wrap around a 1-inch curling iron from root to end to create spiraling curls. Once that is complete, take a tail comb and tease at root. Break up the hair with your fingers. Take some straight pins and pull hair back at the front and secure at the crown. This will give a little lift at the crown. Then pull soft wispy pieces around the face to create the sexy soft look. Smooth the top area of the hair lightly to hide any teasing that might be visible and then spray with light hairspray. Brigitte is a timeless sex symbol and this is a very flattering style for any woman.

5. Short hair If you have short hair, and if you're looking to pump up the look for the evening, there are two things you will need. One is craft clay or pomade and the other is dry shampoo. To create the texturized, soft, sexy look, spray at the root with dry shampoo. In the palm of your hand, take a dab of pomade and rub your hands together to break down the product. Apply the product evenly throughout the hair to create a loose texture. You can wear the hair completely swept back off the face or bring pieces in to create chunky texture. Jewelry can be used in the hair to give it more of a holiday glam look. I think you'll see a lot of bling in the hair over the holiday season.

As I’m sure you all know, Williams’ ex and the father of her six-year-old daughter, Heath Ledger, died of an overdose in 2008. As for the haircut, it’s become a part of her, as the Oscar-nominee explains: “I’ve really grown into it – I feel like myself with short hair. And it’s been a really long time since I had long hair, five years.”

Williams opened up to Elle to promote her new film, My Week with Marilyn, in which she plays tragic movie icon Marilyn Monroe, a role she found particularly challenging: “I’ve never been so hanging on a cliff waiting to hear what people think of a movie. Annie Leibovitz – fresh off a tour in KardashianLand — shot the cover in anticipation of Michelle’s movie, My Week with Marilyn, coming to theaters November 4th. The movie documents the tense relationship between Monroe and co-star Sir Laurence Olivier during the filming of The Prince and the Showgirl. Those two kids did not get along at all, mostly due to Monroe’s boozing, pill-popping and constant lateness, so clearly Anna Wintour heard Oscar’s bells ringing for Michelle this third time around. Let’s take a look at the Best Dressed of the night. This category has quite a bit of people, as it should, for fashion’s biggest event. These were the As and high Bs, the working girls.

Shalom Harlow is my pick for BEST DRESSED in Marchesa. This is what the Met Ball is all about – she looks breathtaking in that gown.

I almost fell over when I saw Christina Ricci in Zac Posen. She never ages a day and looks super sexy in this sheer number.

I found Mary-Kate’s dress underwhelming, but Ashley Olsen looks ravishing in vintage Dior Haute Couture. The whole look is perfect.

Elle Fanning looks like a little couture doll in Valentino. She is so outshining her sister, it’s not even fair.

Rihanna has been looking haggard lately, so I was pleasantly surprised at how elegant she was in this striking Stella McCartney gown.

Iman, also in Stella McCartney, turned it out in a metallic gold jumpsuit. A little draggy, a lot amazing.

Karolina Kurkova in a spring 2011 Jean Paul Gaultier lace legging-dress creation. If the models can’t do it, who can?

I love this Prabal Gurung gown and funky jewelry on Ciara. White could be difficult to pull off at the ball, but she did it right.

Even though Crystal Renn is too skinny for my taste, she is an absolute vision in Alexander McQueen. I need my hair to look like this.

After getting ready in a Barneys window yesterday, Daphne Guiness showed up in McQueen. Perfect, amazing, stuns.

I loved Ginnifer Goodwin‘s look from the moment  I saw it. Then I realized it was custom Topshop. Damn she makes it look good.

Naomi Campbell looks like the queen she is in custom McQueen. She wears the sedatives well too.

Hamish Bowles looks like a true gentleman in custom McQueen. Love it from head to toe.

I always wait with baited breath to see what Blake Lively is wearing. She obviously did not disappoint in a Chanel toga.

New York’s best couple showed up looking better than ever. Beyonce is working that Emilio Pucci gown like whoa.

Queen Bitch Anna Wintour gave her best smile to the camera and looks like a shiny grandiose statue in Chanel.

On to the Most Boring of the night. On any other occasion, these folks would have looked great (probably). Unfortunately, this also means they’re the Cs of the Met Ball.

I’m sleeping. Zoe Saldana is usually among the best dressed. Why did she choose this boring Calvin Klein for the biggest fashion night of the year?

Leighton Meester is amazing, but she has trouble getting it right. Different shoes and hair would have done this Louis Vuitton dress more justice.

I love this Michael Kors dress on Emma Roberts, but she has the body to wear something more over the top on a night like this.

Madonna, the Material Girl herself, definitely could have done better than this Stella McCartney dress. Pretty, but boring.

I’m actually quite obsessed with this Miu Miu dress Michelle Williams is wearing. But I would wear this to a nice dinner, not a gala.

And now ladies and gentleman, the Worst Dressed of the night. These are the Ds and Fs of the Met Ball, the creme de la creme of mistakes.

ARGH! Christina Hendricks used to dress so well! This Carolina Herrera gown is an unflattering fit and color on her.

Oh dear. Hate to say it Alicia Keys, but it looks like you’re wearing a giant turd instead of Givenchy. Brown jacket AND dress is NOT fly.

Jennifer Lopez looks like a halfway plucked bloody chicken. Matchy-matchy lipstick, bag and Gucci is a no go.

I thought Chloe Sevigny would make McQueen look good, but I was wrong. The hair is awful and the dress fits like she grabbed it off some rack.

Sorry to say it Kate Hudson, but this Stella McCartney is not a cute pregnant lady dress. And whatever is on your head isn’t working either.

Nooooo! In the rush of preparing for the gala, Lucy Liu forgot to get a wax! Oh wait, that’s just her looking blech in Vionnet.

- View co-host and EGOT-er, Whoopi Goldberg admitted that she was stoned as a Marley on 420 when she accepted her Best Supporting Actress Oscar at the 1991 ceremony: ”So I smoked this wonderful joint that was the last of my home grown. When he [presenter Denzel Washington] said my name and I popped up, I thought, ‘Oh fuck… okay, up the stairs… around to the podium… there’s millions of people, pick up the statue, get the statue.’” Oooh, Whoopi’s got that home grown ish? Can a bitch come over and hold your Oscar in a very similar state of mind? [DListed]

So what is a great Oscar gown? It’s a dress that is memorable, history-making, scene-stealing or just plain fucking perfect. With that, I just don’t get the fuss over Gwyneth‘s pink prom dress and refuse to even acknowledge that gown or the fact that she has an Oscar.

Audrey Hepburn (1954) Auds became a star and a fashion icon that night when she wore Givenchy, beginning a lifetime collaboration between the star and designer. Along with America’s heart, she took home the Best Actress trophy for her debut performance in Roman Holiday.

Elizabeth Taylor (1961) In the pantheon of great movie stars, few shine brighter or longer than Liz Taylor, thus a list of the greatest Oscar gowns could barely be considered legitimate without Liz throwing her white diamonds into the mix — I hear they’ve always brought her luck. Taylor won her first of two Oscars for BUtterfield 8 and wore this gorgeous Christian Dior number to claim her statuette. It’s generally accepted  – even by Liz herself — that Taylor won the award through a vote of sympathy after losing her husband Mike Todd in a plane crash – only to seek comfort with Debbie Reynolds’ then-husband Eddie Fisher —  and suffering a life-threatening illness during filming – at one point she was actually pronounced dead. Six years later she took home a well-deserved trophy for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

Cher (1984) Cher might have proved that she was a serious actress with her Oscar-nominated turn as Meryl Streep‘s lesbian lover in Silkwood, but she’s still fucking Cher. The icon wore Bob Mackie (natch) to the 1984 ceremony but lost only to win three years later for Moonstruck. And that gown was no less show-stopping, but didn’t have this amazing headdress.

Halle Berry (2002) Halle Berry not only became the first African American to win a Best Actress Academy Award that night, but she also launched Elie Saab into the sartorial stratosphere. This was Berry’s and Saab’s shining moment and everything since then has been an enormous letdown. On both their parts.

Barbra Streisand (1969) Eschewing tradition and helping to usher in a new generation of movie star, Babs wore a see-through sequined sailor pantsuit by Arnold Scaasi. It was a big gamble but La Streisand came out the winner and made history by tying for Best Actress with Katharine Hepburn when they won for Funny Girl and Lion in Winter, respectively. Kate chose not to attend because, honestly, it was her third (of four) Oscars and she couldn’t have been bothered.

Celine Dion (1999) Was it a stroke of genius that caused Celine Dion to turn her Christian Dior blazer back-to-front or did she simply forget to take her medication that day? Either way, Celine was memorable the year after her heart went on and on to win Best Original Song (though the award itself went to the songwriters, I. Dunno and No-one Cares).

Nicole Kidman (1997) Nikki Kids was a greenhorn on the red carpet before this Dior gown and became one of its reigning queens after. Though she gave an incredible performance the previous year in To Die For, she won in 2003 for her brilliant portrayal of Virginia Woolf in the saddest movie ever made, otherwise known as The Hours. Nominated this year for her third Oscar for Rabbit Hole, she’s got some big shoes to fill: her own.

Anjelica Huston (1976) Former Halston model Anjelica Huston looked flawless and managed to do what few people can claim: take attention away from Jack Nicholson, who won his first of three Oscars that year for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Huston would claim her own statuette, for Best Supporting Actress, a decade later for Prizzi’s Honor, also starring Nicholson.

Sharon Stone (1999) I usually spell “batshit crazy” S-H-A-R-O-N-S-T-O-N-E, but Stone looked the picture of elegance in a Vera Wang skirt paired with a Gap button down. The marriage of high and low was made in heaven that night, though I still couldn’t tell you why she was at the ceremony that year. But like most things with Sharon Stone, I don’t question it.

Björk (2001) The dress that launched a thousand jokes, Björk’s Marjan Pejoski swan dress was perhaps the last epic thing to stroll down the Oscar red carpet. Nommed for Best Original Song that year, Björk may have left empty-handed but no one will ever forget that she was there.

Who will leave tongues hanging or heads scratching at this year’s Academy Awards. Of the 10 Best Lead and Supporting Actress nominees, I’m most looking forward to Kidman, teen breakthrough Hailee Steinfeld (as well as peer Elle Fanning who will get her own nomination one day), the almost always flawless Michelle Williams and kooky Helena Bonham Carter.

Unfortunately, Natalie Portman is preggers so naturally I have no interest in what she’s wearing and just hope her water doesn’t break while accepting her award.

The King’s Speech stuttered its way to 12 nominations, while True Grit lassoed in 10. The Fighter came out swinging and took 8 nods, though not one for its leading man, Mark Wahlberg. The Social Network friened 8  nominations as well, but the hype from Black Swan might have stepped on the film’s toes, garnering only 5 nominations — which, by the way, does not include one for Best Costume Design…the Mulleavy sisters are maniacally cackling in their atelier right now.

Black Swan‘s supporting actresses, Mila Kunis and Barbara Hershey were also shut out. Instead, Amy Adams (The Fighter), Golden Globe winner Melissa Leo (The Fighter), Helena Bonham Carter (The King’s Speech), Jacki Weaver (Animal Kingdom) and 14-year-old Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) will compete for that honor.

In a surprising twist, Mark Ruffalo earned a (well-deserved) nomination for The Kids Are All Right, which was nominated for three other awards including Best Actress Annette Bening (her fourth nomination and thankfully Hilary Swank is nowhere to be seen), Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay.

Ruffalo will compete against Golden Globe winner Christian Bale (The Fighter), Geoffrey Rush (The King’s Speech), John Hawkes (Winter’s Bone) and Jeremy Renner (The Town).

Host James Franco might have to pull double duty should he win Best Actor (he won’t, Colin Firth‘s all but claimed it and already has his name engraved on the statue). Nominated for 127 Hours, Daniel Desario will face (and arm) off against Firth (The King’s Speech), Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network), last year’s winner Jeff Bridges (True Grit) and surprise nominee, Javier Bardem (Biutiful), who apparently usurped Ryan Gosling for Blue Valentine.

The Best Actress category, however, held no surprises. Along with Annette Bening, Natalie Portman (Black Swan), Michelle Williams (Blue Valentine), Nicole Kidman (Rabbit Hole) and Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone) will have me on the edge of my seat in anticipation.

I’m so excited! Besides Fashion Week, there’s no other time of the year I love more than Oscar season! It’s the Super Bowl for the gays…besides the new Glee episode directly after the Super Bowl.

I get severe back and neck pain every time I look at Michelle Williams in this Valentino dress because my brain is sending signals of suffering and agony to the rest of my body. THIS IS A TRAIN WRECK. If you disagree, you are wrong. This is not a matter of opinion, it is a matter of fact, and she looks terrible. Julie Bowen managed to find the ugliest shade of gray for last night’s Golden Globes. This Tadashi Shoji chiffon gown does not translate, as she looks like a chicken that was plucked and had it’s feathers glued back on asymmetrically. She has a great body, so why hide behind this hideous frock that washes her out? A funny lady shouldn’t strive to look funny. D

What happened to Christina Aguilera?! She used to be a bombshell, and now she’s just a mess. First of all, YOU ARE NOT CHER. The “strategically placed applique” look of this Zuhair Murad doesn’t work for her because of her curves. And I am not saying she’s pudgy, but sleeves would not hurt her right now. It’s very difficult to wear a strapless dress if it doesn’t fit perfectly. And it looks like she’s wearing a wig! Bad, bad, bad X-tina. D

Everyone in the office is giving me shit for putting Emma Stone in the worst-dressed category, but I really couldn’t care less. This Calvin Klein dress is chic, and I don’t think this blond hair-dying, Lindsey Lohan look-alike has earned the right to wear it yet. Easy A was mediocre at best, I want to see some real acting emotion dammit. The only reason she gets a plus is because her body is great and she can wear this dress. But may she? D+

I weep for Julianne Moore. She is one of the most brilliant actresses in Hollywood, and she constantly makes poor fashion choices. This Lanvin dress makes me say “ain’t nothin’ like mutton,” where is the spit, it’s time to roast this leg of lamb. Really bad color, worse construction and it’s wrinkled. Yuck! It looks like she’s about to enter an amateur jousting match. D-

Office comment: I hate redheads in pink. It was such a green year, and that color looks great on her. Why didn’t she wear green?

It’s a shame half of Halle Berry’s dress got ripped off in the limo door because she looks great from the waist up. This Nina Ricci dress looked amazing on the runway, but it was worn with boots and tights for an edgy feel. This is too tight on her and looks like it might split in the back as soon as she takes her seat. BUT, I love her hair short, and except for the dress, she looks beautiful. D

Office comment: I love Halle Berry, so this upsets me. She can do anything she wants, but not really.

Jennifer Love Hewitt stained her Golden Globes dress at the last minute, so she had to staple this white tablecloth around herself minutes before she arrived. UGH. This Romona Keveza gown was so not a good choice. First of all, SO OVER the big bun. Secondly, she also has a nice, full bust, and this floppy piece of fabric does nothing for it. I hate white, even for wedding dresses, because it’s not flattering and it makes fake tans look more orange than they already are. Beautiful, talented girl, really bad fashion taste. D-

Office comment: A girl with a big bust should wear a sweetheart neckline, something that accentuates but doesn’t let everything flop around.

1. Ricky Gervais will never be asked to host anything ever again, short of a Bar Mitzvah on Long and/or Staten Island. Gervais’ brilliant and acerbic monologue had me in stitches, but you don’t make fun of Angelina Jolie, Scientology and Cher and expect to get away with it. What made Gervais opening monologue and openly drunken interludes so great was the fact that he was spot-on. But as Hollywood has proven time and time again, it takes itself far too seriously.

2. Michelle Williams might actually stand a chance at the Oscars. Front-runners Natalie Portman and Annette Bening both took home Best Actress (Drama and Comedy, respectively), however, the Oscars don’t separate performances by genre. Portman and Bening have been splitting the awards down the middle this awards season, leaving me to wonder if Michelle Williams might just slip in should they divide the Academy’s vote. Or, even better, what if there was a tie à la Kate Hepburn and Babs Streisand in 1969?

3. Peg Bundy is amazing. There’s nothing I love more than seeing an actor or actress finally get her due. Katey Segal is perhaps best known for her role as Peg Bundy on classic 90s sitcom, Married…with Children, in addition to 8 Simple Rules and as the voice of Leela on Futurama. In short, she’s been working her ass off for years with little to no recognition. So when she won Best Actress in a Drama for Sons of Anarchy, I couldn’t help but feel not only happy but proud of that leopard-print spandex-wearing, big-haired, chain-smoking angel from on high. 4. Glee is the best thing to happen to the gays since the birth of Liza. Best Supporting Actresses, Chris Colfer and Jane Lynch delivered two of the best acceptance speeches of the night; the former a heartwarming and inspiring message to gay teens and the latter a comedic tour de force ending with Lynch thanking her wife and kids. When Glee finally won Best Comedy, you could just hear all the little gays around the country squeal in pitch-perfect delight.

5. Robert DeNiro can continue making Meet the Fockers movies til he dies. Watching the montage of Bobby DeNiro’s films over the past 40 years (which for some reason included The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle), I was reminded how prolific and amazing an actor he is. His legacy will remain in tact with such films as Mean Streets, The Godfather – Part II, Taxi Driver, The Deer Hunter, Raging Bull, The Last King of Comedy, Goodfellas, Cape Fear and Casino. Hopefully time or excessive drinking will erase the past 15 years or so from our collective conscience.

This Oscar de la Renta dress from the spring 2011 RTW collection is gorgeous, and obviously Michelle Williams looks beautiful in it. Let’s take a look at it on the runway:

I think Michelle wears it very well compared to a model who is taller by far. It shows off her tiny waist and is a pretty good length, although I think she could have gone shorter because, well, she is shorter. The shoes are great, but I really think she needs accessories. Where is the necklace or a nice pair of earrings? I’m not asking for major bling here, but something to break up the monotony from her hair to the dress neckline.

Although Michelle looks great, I want to see her in something more body-conscious and provocative. With an androgynous haircut like hers, a little edge never hurt. What is the grade on her Red Carpet Report Card?:

B-

I like it, but I’m bored. Let’s step it up a tad!

LINK LOVE: The Cut

Despite scathing reviews and dysmal box office returns, The Tourist and Burlesque were both nominated for Best Picture – Musical/Comedy, which just goes to show you that…actually I’m not really sure at all what that goes to show anyone. Other nominees include Alice in Wonderland, Red and  The Kids Are All Right, which has already won by default.

Both Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie were nominated for Best Actor and Actress, respectively, in the same genre, however Cher is conspicuously absent. Now, who does the HFPA think they’re fooling? They can nominate Depp and Angie for sleepwalking through a movie no one saw, but snub Cher after wielding a crowbar in her first film in over 7 years? Someone call the AARP, the Globes are abusing a senior citizen.

Elsewhere, the Globes mirror the CCAs in their unabashed hard-on for Black Swan, The Social Network and The King’s Speech, each receiving multiple nominations in the acting categories, as well as a nomination for Best Picture – Drama. They’re joined in that auspicious category by Inception and The Fighter, with Danny Boyle‘s 127 Hours mysteriously snubbed.

The flick’s star, James Franco, is however nominated and released a statement to MTV about how “grateful” he is. And he also released a statement to Matt Lauer of the Today show about his love of texting pictures of fat animals.

I’m seriously excited about his various award speeches in the coming months.

Marky Mark Walhlberg (The Fighter) replaces Jeff Bridges in the competitive Best Actor – Drama category, otherwise, the nominees are exactly the same as the Critics’ Choice. Meanwhile, the nominees in the Best Actor – Comedy section will be getting drunk on the free champagne while Johnny Depp chuckles to himself at getting nominated twice for essentially the same character he’s been playing for the past 15 years.

It’s becoming clearer and clearer that the race to watch this year is Best Actress. Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams, Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Lawrence all re-scored the nomination, with Halle Berry somehow sneaking into the Drama category. Annette Bening has already engraved her name on the Best Actress – Comedy trophy, as her only real competition coming from her Kids Are All Right co-star, the incredible Julianne Moore.

The Critics’ Choice Awards are a minor affair since no one cares what critics have to say anyway. But it is one of the early forecasters for the Big Show, the Academy Awards. And if the list of nominees is any indication, shove the geezers out of the way because the kids are taking over the Oscars.

It’s already been announced that Anne Hathaway and James Franco will be hosting the ceremony in February. Franco is expected to be nominated for Best Actor for Danny Boyle‘s 127 Hours, which has received Critics’ Choice nominations, in addition for Franco’s performance, for Best Picture, Best  Adapted Screenplay and Best Director.

Franco faces stiff competition from Ryan Gosling (Blue Valentine) and Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) in the Best Actor category, while Goslin’s co-star and current paramour, Michelle Williams will face off against Natalie Portman (Black Swan) and awards show veterans Nicole Kidman (Rabbit Hole) and my personal favorite, Annette Bening (The Kids Are All Right) for Best Actress.

In addition to Best Actress, Black Swan‘s 11 other nominations include  Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress Mila Kunis (a long way from That 70s Show), Best Original Screenplay and Best Director for Daron Aronofsky.

With so many of Hollywood’s hot, young talent being showered with awards this season, the Oscars and other trophy ceremonies will certainly draw in a younger demographic and probably a substantial audience. And I will continue to question what I’m doing wrong in my life.

Leighton looks pretty cute with the taper trousers and slightly undone tie, but Winona went a little masculine for a look that was totally asexual and Halle’s suit was a little too…tragic. As for Kate Winslet, let’s just say the picture with her arm around Michelle Williams feels very right.  Ellen Barkin went for a classically tailored suit paired with a deep blue top that was flattering, if not too flashy, and Ms. Jolie rounds out the group of suited ladies in a tame black velvet pantsuit and sequined top. All in all, we think that women’s power suits are a tricky thing to pull off, but with the right fit and a little sex appeal, ladies, you can work it.

Williams does resemble Monroe with the blond hair and beautiful fair skin, but it appears she is trying too hard to get that sleepy-eyed glamour down. And Williams is a little thin if you ask me, but I guess the face is what matters most. What do you think indies?

I’ve always loved Michelle Williams, and I’m usually not a fan of short cut on women, but she looks gorgeous in Cannes for the photo call for her new movie “Blue Valentine.” Her look is pretty simple but she’s my favorite from the festival!

Michelle Williams and Kim Cattrall have been caught in the same white, ruffle Lanvin dress recently. Which blonde wore it best? I love it the most on Michelle. The ruffles work better on her smaller frame and I love her choice of black accessories and heels with the dress.

For the Fresh Air Fund Gala in New York this past weekend, Michelle looked relaxed and radiant in a white and gold-studded Phillip Lim dress, Jimmy Choo sandals and YSL clutch. With her simple hairstyle, fresh makeup, low-key accessories she doesn’t overdo it, allowing this uniqely designed dress be the focal point. It’s a balanced look that lends itself to the nature of true style.

Here is a great advertisement for ‘Greed’ a new perfume by Fransceso Vezzoli in which Natalie Portman and Michelle Williams engage in a fierce battle over said product.

Directed by Roman Polanski, this project’s goal is is to isolate and imitate the hype created by the promotion of a new luxury product in the mass market. Basically, a faux ad campaign for an imagined perfume.

LINKAGE: Wicked Halo

Oh what it’s like to be a working woman in your 20s, longingly gazing into your favorite designer’s store window. With that disposable income just starting to show its face, most of the funds are going towards a party. But not to fear! Designer Michelle Williams felt the same aches and pains that every gal starting a career has experienced. That’s when she decided to start her label Quail. The Long Beach-based line boasts prices in the $40-$110 range.

With no formal training, Williams used to cut and reconstruct old garments as a child. Her design concepts are blatantly seen in her creations- modern garments with a vintage-y feel. She describes herself as a Quail- a term used in 60s hipster slang to describe a woman or girl. Williams gets inspiration from music, art and local culture. Her fabulous line includes adorable high-waisted skirts and pants, vintage-looking jackets and vibrant minidresses. Her line can be found at various locations throughout New York including Catbird, In God We Trust and Cry Wolf.

Scott Sternberg, from Band of Outsiders’, brought his talent to the table as Michelle Williams posed as model. All of the shots took place in Paul Fortune’s house with a laid back approach to elegance. The star didn’t have a make-up artist or even someone to take care of her hair behind the seens. Present? An on-call emergency stylist, Sternberg and Williams herself. Of the shoot and collection Sternberg says “These are clothes you wear on the street…I want to do something closer to where the clothes are, and let people actually touch and feel them as opposed to seeing them on a 14-year-old anorexic model.” Well said!
