TRENDSPARK: Timeless Androgyny
It wasn’t until I was saw Mikael Jansson’s spread for Vogue Paris September 2009 that I realized what my favorite fall trend is: timeless androgyny. Inspired by Diane Keaton’s role as Annie Hall, Jansson’s spread features model Anna Jagodzinska dressed in an array of androgynous 70’s menswear. While the androgyny trend is a few seasons running, I love the simple, professional and somewhat preppy feel of this trendy throwback. But remember ladies, keep the hair and makeup feminine and simple to avoid the butch/costume/tranny look!

Vogue Paris’ penchant for dressing up in their September issue is causing me to fall absolutely in love. Anna Jagodzinska pays tribute to Diane Keaton in her Annie Hall days, with a sleek but still casual menswear look. Who will you be playing dress-up as this fall?

SPREAD UM: Follow That Woman, Edita Vilkeviciute for Vogue Nippon by Mikael Jansson

80’s inspired styling and a lack of eyebrows seem to be two clues that an editorial is from 2009. This Vogue Nippon spread has those two prerequisites, but thankfully brings something new too the table: endless buff boys and a gorgeous ocean location. Edita plays a cougar-like role here with the mature styling and the multitude of young, buff boys chasing her around.

ADDICT: GAP S/S 2009
Sorry, Patrick Robinson — I’m not really feeling the color schemes in the S/S 2009 GAP ad campaign.
Good job on the ethnic diversity, but the ads are a little busy — and it’s traditional GAP spring, with the colors, khakis, and denim.
The Mikael Jansson-shot ads feature familiar faces like Sasha Pivovarova and Jessica Stam.

SPREAD UM: Sasha Pivovarova Shot by Mikael Jansson for “Interview” February 09

Interview always has the best editorials. Model Sasha Pivovarova posed for Mikael Jansson to bring us a Dolce & Gabbana story for the magazine’s February issue. Pivovarova looks amazing in these structured Dolce & Gabbana pieces from their spring 09 RTW collection. The clothes are fabulous; I would totally wear this pink number as a suit. And thank heavens stylist Karl Templer didn’t dress her in those awful pajamas.

ADDICT: Chloe Spring 09 Shot by Mikael Jansson

The newest Chloe ad campaign for Spring 09 features two forest green garments that, to my surprise, actually work well. Models Toni Garrn and Anna Maria Jagodzinska appear to be hiding out among some boulders while wearing really expensive outfits. I’m not really sure what’s supposed to be going on here; I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of this campaign.
Thanks to Korey Lartigue-Webb for the photo.
