Vogue Italia always has the best editorials, and this one does not disappoint. Featuring a childlike Siri Tollerod accessorized in an eccentric fairy-tail with pink tipped hair, Aldridge has created an alternate world that I am dying to visit. With extensive use of live props (cats, everywhere!) each photo has a unique dream-like color scheme, complete with matching wallpaper.

Now that it’s officially Spring, I decided to pull up one of my favorite Spring fashion spreads that ran in the New York Times Style Magazine in Spring 2007. What I love about the makeup look in the throwback picture is that the makeup is still current. Very clean face, lightly applied blush in soft pink and bright red lips. It’s the same lipstick colors that the models walked down the catwalk wearing during NY Fashion Week. So as you see, nothing really changed with spring makeup in the last two years.
And though nothing has changed with the makeup, if I could really sit on the beach eating ice cream, gourmet cakes and cookies, and still fit in a bathing suit looking like model Anja Rubik in two years, that may be hard to believe.

Some of the freakiest fashion photos will be on display at the Weird Beauty exhibit at the International Center of Photography in NYC. The exhibit will try to represent the convergence of art, sexuality, narratives, digital and youth influences on fashion photography. Original photographs will be shown alongside tearsheets from published works. Steven Meisel, Cindy Sherman, Mario Sorrenti, Nick Knight, Steven Klein, Miles Aldridge, Paolo Roversi, Sølve Sundsbø and more will be on display through May.

Picture a Bond Girl on an acid trip into the pop-tastic world of the 1980’s Mannequin movie featuring Kim Cattrall and then blend this all together and you have the “Bang Bang” shoot by Miles Aldridge for Numero 97 magazine. With tongue firmly planted in cheek, Aldridge has created a stylish heroine in Masha Novoselova that fights the good fight against the deadly and dangerous neon femme-bots!
