Edited by

As we empty our closets of summer clothing to make room for fall pieces, we’re looking for all kinds of wardrobe inspiration. These Eryn Brinié & Kai-aakmann Collections (Almost) Make Me Wish For Fall

Edited by

The first thing I thought when I walked into the Eryn Brinié and Kai-aakmann preview at The Ace Hotel was “this is the outerwear I want for fall.” And although I want spring and summer to last a lifetime, we have something good to look forward too once the wind turns chilly again. Kai-aakmann showed fall 2011 collections for both men and women, boasting tons of leather, shearling, lightweight knitwear and borderline-sheer shirts. A matching bomber jacket for men and women was a key item and looked amazing on anyone who put it on. Eryn Brinié’s womenswear fall 2011 collection was graceful and pretty, incorporating classic silhouettes with modern design details. Grecian-inspired draping was combined with big shoulders on dresses and blouses, creating a strong, ladylike silhouette. Outwear was military-inspired, including forest green parkas and double-breasted wool coats. Click through to see photos from the preview and highlights from both collections’ lookbooks.

Vintage Military Inspiration for Elie Tahari Men’s Fall 2011 Collection

Edited by

A striped vintage military blanket was the main piece of inspiration for the Elie Tahari Men’s Fall 2011 line, a collection full of handsome fabrications, exceptional details and a masculine, neutral color palette. Outerwear is a key element, featuring coats with removable linings and leather design details. Updated military influence comes through in contrasting stripes, mandarin collars and brass hardware. Luxurious fabrics like cashmere and ultra-soft wool look warm and sophisticated. The navy blue wall surrounding the model presentation had a burnt orange stripe painted across, a nod to the blanket of first inspiration. Suiting is clean and classic, the perfect essentials for any man wanting to look polished.

SPREAD UM: Clement Chabernaud’s Bolshevik Revolution

SPREAD UM: Clement Chabernauds Bolshevik Revolution

Clement Chabernaud gets tough in Fall’s down and dirty militaristic fashions for GQ Style Russia. Lensed by David Roemer, the usually epicene Mon. Chabernaud looks rugged and just a bit menacing in camoflauge, a bit of shearling, wool tops and shorts, a great pair of fingerless leather gloves…and Mickey Mouse.

Rather than coming off costumey or fetishistic, the military theme is explored in a really fun, fashionable and easily imitable way. Just go to any Army and Navy store, get a pair of combat boots and a camo jacket then slab on some eyeliner and you’re ready for an editorial.
