Henrik Vibskov is an installation artist featured in MoMa and museums and galleries worldwide, and he’s the drummer for Trentmøller. This Central Saint Martens grad is also the only Scandinavian on the official Paris show roster and has put out 20 collections in the past decade. Henrik Vibskov is creating exhilarating menswear that embraces color and outspoken silhouettes in a wearable way, fusing radical shapes with traditional tailored pieces. The sculptor within him ensures his stores and presentations are ever changing by his own hands. His Soho store is a feast for the eyes up to the ceiling, and also features other designers aligned with his philosophy, like SVSV, Comme des Garçons and Bernhard Willhelm. He’s a chill, multi-talented man, making clothing for equally interesting gentlemen across the world. His Fall 2012 collection is here.

God forbid you mentioned passing on the Andy Warhol exhibit at Nose Up in the Air gallery – you might as well have admitted that you’ve ignored art for the last 50 years! Jay and Ye H.A.M. It Up at MOMA’s Garden Party

The Museum of Modern Art’s annual Party in the Garden went down last night with considerable help from gentlemen about town/rap superstars Kanye West and Jay Z.

The MOMa’s Garden Party benefits the museum’s Annual Fund and the maintenance of The Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden and last night’s attendees were of an appropriately distinguished lot.

But for every Mayor Michael Bloomberg or Larry Gagosian there was a Chloë Sevigny or Aziz Ansari who perhaps didn’t come for the dinner (with tables going for $25,000 to $100,000, who could blame them?) but for the after-party at the museum’s Terrace 5 Lounge.

The line for that party stretched down 54th St — filled with people who didn’t cough up the $500 for VIP tix, no doubt — and by the time Kanye took the stage at 11-ish, there were an extra 1500 guests ready to rap-sing along to their favorite tunes.

His set, a little over an hour, was punctuated by Jay-Z who was apparently granted permission to leave the penthouse from wifey, Beyoncé. Jay then ordered the crowd to go H.AM. — and if you’re as out-of touch with today’s hippity-hop as I am, that means “Hard As A Motherfucker. “

If only I could’ve seen Mayor Bloomberg fucking shit up with Chloë and Aziz, my life would be complete. [WWD]

Mark Ryden‘s “The Gay ’90s: Olde Tyme Art Show” has just opened at the Paul Kasmin Gallery in New York City and it’s a mix of madcap escapism reminiscent of Tim Burton‘s recent tryst at the MoMA. A definite must see for those who appreciate the odder things in life, the work tackles ideals of Jesus Christ, our 14th president and chicks with really big heads. Check out some of our favorite pieces from this unique artist after the jump.

“The central theme of “The Gay 90s: Old Tyme Art Show” references the idealism of the 1890s while addressing the role of kitsch and nostalgia in our current culture. “In the modern era, sentimentality and beauty have been disdained in the art world. This new work explores the line between attraction and repulsion to kitsch, and between beauty and banality.”

Tatsuya Matsui has designed robots for the likes of Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, and the MOMA–including an animatronic mannequin that uses visual data recognition to figure out which poses make people people want to buy their crazy-expensive clothes. This is the next level of retail.

Jessica Biel attended a gala event last night at MOMA honoring Oscar and Golden Globe-nominated Australian film director Baz Luhrmann.

Love the simple black dress, paired with black pumps (happy that they aren’t Louboutin’s), and the hair is gorgeous. Hoping that she didn’t do too much sitting, since the back is ruffled and would easily get wrinkled.
