High End Fashion’s Retreat from Moscow

High End Fashions Retreat from Moscow emerging fashion

The most expensive city in the world, Moscow has seen a downgrade in its available fashions. Once a home to all big luxury retailers, the time has come for many to move on.

Designers are closing their Russian outposts and retreating from Moscow after months of disappointing sales, with Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood among those forced to pull down the shutters. This includes other Euorpean designers such as Dior and Chanel.

Bursting The Chanel Bubble

Bursting The Chanel Bubble emerging fashionIf you were one of the hundreds who reported UFO sightings while walking through Central Park back in October, fear no more! No, it wasn’t aliens or the FBI who brought an end to the Chanel Mobile Art exhibit…it was none other than the economy! The only reason I sound half excited about this is because those jerks wouldn’t let us into the exhibit, despite the fact that we had tickets, because we were five minutes late! Honestly, if those Chanel umbrella carrying security guards got any snobbier, I’d be able to see down their noses and right into their pathetic $8.00/hour souls. If you ask me, the exhibit wasn’t about the a fashion or the art…it was about the buck…and they even failed at getting that!

In all due respect though, it is a damn shame what the economy is doing to fashion and the arts. Those in London, Paris and Moscow looking forward to the exhibit are fresh out of luck. For their sake, lets hope Chanel resurrects the project once things get a little brighter.
